ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Last September, the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies Players’ Association agreed on a new Memorandum of Understanding and Collective Bargaining Agreement with the overall aim of professionalising the game in the Caribbean.
An important part of the new MOU and CBA included creating clear, long-term, stable arrangements for player compensation at all levels.
Unfortunately, there seemed to have been confusion, particularly among players, as to the specifics of what had been agreed and how the new compensation structure would operate, and this was recognised as a major contributory factor to the premature termination of the West Indies Tour to India last October.
During May, the WICB and WIPA participated by mutual consent in a formal mediation process over a period of five days to consider the question of what level of sponsorship funds received by the WICB should international players receive and how that amount should be distributed.

This was simply the Icing on the Cake , Cameron & Hinds were the Architects of the Coup , that has made WIPA a Branch of the WICB .
They made Machiavelli look like a Choir Boy . For their Efforts both Cameron & Hinds were reelected handsomely for a Job well done .
The next step was for those in the governance of Cricket in the Region to launch their CHARM OFFENSIVE .
Their first stop was the Regional Governments , they condescended to meet with the Regional Governments ;
the same Governments that not to long ago they had deliberately snubbed , by refusing to implement the changes recommended by the Patterson Report . That request was ignored , and the WICB swiftly commissioned another Report , called the Wilkin Report , which it just as swiftly rejected .
The next Stop of their Charm Offensive , was their decision to also condescend to having Public Town Hall Meetings .
The third stop was overtly having Dinner for some of our Great Players . However covertly it was
to celebrate the brilliant Coup engineered by Cameron & Hinds , welcoming WIPA as a Branch of the WICB , & giving Legitimacy to the Coup .
ALL COUPS SOONER OR LATER SEEK LEGITIMACY . So the Coup engineered by Cameron & Hinds followed the traditional pattern , and seemingly has Legitimacy . Most of the Senior Players have been banned , so it appears to be smooth sailing for the WICB .
The only dark Cloud on the horizon , is the business of the potential 42 million dollars lawsuit . These Guys can do anything except walk on Water .

A union is only as strong as its weakest link. That is why you have restricted membership rights based on aspects of the relationship with the employer. The international players should be the core group whose input is mandatory in any negotiations relating to contracts with WICB. First class players have contracts with their regional board and should have no say in WICB contractual matters and could be accommodated as a division. The international players tried to help their aspiring group and have let in the "Trojan Horse" to be used by manipulative administrators.
We see the results in the latest test selections/results, the product suffers but who can blame the youngsters for accepting a chance to play.

I understand your reasoning & I have no problem with what you stated .
The thing is that it made no sense for the Players representing the Region Internationally ; because those who play Regional Cricket far out number those who represent the Region Internationally , it means that what power those who play International Cricket for the Region , will always be outvoted in WIPA .
In essence some of the Interests of all the Players converge , but in some instances they diverge , because those who Represent the Region Internationally have to deal with their Contracts etc , while those who are playing in the Region are not concerned about that , the fact that they are currently being paid is still a novelty to them , that has not as yet worn off .
Months ago I stated in a Post in this Forum that the Players who represented the Region Internationally needed to opt out of WIPA , because WIPA since the Coup engineered by Cameron & Hinds .
They quickly recognized this fact , and have opted out of WIPA . I also stated that they needed to have Collectively legal representation regarding their Contracts . It would be better if they did that Collectively ; rather than individually .

There is a distinct difference between a Scheme & a Coup , One is a Plan , the other is an accomplishment .
It really was not a Scheme it was a COUP ; Masterminded by Cameron & Hinds ,They succeeded in making WIPA
a Branch of the WICB . Both of them , it is recorded were handsomely reelected to their Offices in the governance of Cricket in the Region without any competition .
Interestingly this was after the Reckless behavior of the WICB , in pulling the plug on our Team's Tour to India , which was not only in Progress ; but the effect of pulling the Plug ,cost the BCCI Millions of Dollars .

It is the best deal that the FC players have had in their career... But are the International players having their Best Deal?
There were a few questions that were raised when this issue came up about the salary redutions... Bravo and the players in India exposed it. But since then all of them were removed to have youngsters who would not question... I would really like to see what the new terms are

Your assessment is correct , they took some of the Players money to pay
the Regional Players .
In essence not to be funny the WICB robbed Peter to pay Paul . That is dishonesty at its highest level .
In the process of this heist , the WICB Recklessly pulled the Plug on the India Tour which was in Progress .
The result of this Reckless Behaviour
made the BCCI lose millions of Dollars ; this has led the BCCI to potentially sue the WICB FOR 42 MILLION DOLLARS .
As I see it, one of the in reasons that Dwayne Bravo et al were not selected , was that doing that , would have busted the WICB projected salary Cap .
In essence Cameron & Co , stiffed the Players who went to India ; banned some of them ; engineered a Coup in WIPA , and topped all that off by not selecting Players whose salary was in their opinion to high .

A bunch of words that say nothing. What numbers were agreed upon? Did the drastic cuts to the international players remain largely intact? Did they split the difference or did they go back to something more resembling the traditional payment structure?

I agree with POINT and Pacy assessment. With the WIPA/WICB "agreement", WI cricket will continue spiral towards the bottom of the Tier 2 teams.

Thanks for your input & Support . This whole thing was an upgrade of the WICB's Playbook .
They in essence banned the Ring Leaders of Players who were in India ; they then docked the Pay that the Players would have received to assist in paying the salaries of the Regional Players .
ALL this was facilitated by the Coup engineered by Cameron & Hinds . They then selected a lot of Young Players
to represent the Region , because their collective salaries would not be as high as it would be if all of the Senior Players were representing the Region .
It is quite possible that the non selection of Chanderpaul in part may have had to do with his compensation , he was the most Senior
Player in the Region ; in terms of Seniority .
To soothe the ruffled Feathers of all in the Region ; the WICB started
a Charm Offensive Campaign ; the first Port of Call as I have stated was the Region Governments , they same Governments that they had recently snubbed . They condescended to talk t the Regional Governments .
The next Port of Call was the General Public in the form of Town Hall Meetings . Once again , the WICB having not met with the Public before ; decided to condescend to meet with the General Public via Town Hall Meetings .
Well the last Port of Call happened
last week when some of our Great Players were honoured by the WICB ,
with an elaborate Dinner .
However the REAL reason for the dinner was to Celebrate the brilliant Coup engineered by Cameron & Hinds , that resulted in WIPA now being a Branch of the WICB .
