ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Michael Muirhead said plans to improve the Regional Professional Cricket League (PCL) will be revealed within the next two weeks.
Speaking on OBSERVER Radio’s Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, Muirhead said that the WICB has asked the regional franchises to ensure certain measures are in place ahead of the new season and he is awaiting the outcome.
“We have made some demands of the PCL, of the franchises, and we are insisting that when those things are accomplished, within the next week or two, that they be made public,” he said.
“We think that it is part of the fabric and it belongs to us, and when I say us, I mean us the WICB; us the region. We need to be clear on what their plans are, because it is WICB who is, in large part, funding what is going forward. It is in their hands to make sure they deliver to the WICB the good cricketers so that we can have a pool of cricketers to choose from to improve our own standings in the rankings,” he added.
The Barbados Pride, Guyana Jaguars, Trinidad & Tobago Red Force and Windward Islands Volcanoes, Jamaica and Leeward Islands were all represented in the inaugural PCL.
Muirhead also spoke on the ongoing dialogue between the WICB and the Guyana government concerning the issues plaguing the Guyana Cricket Board.

The way they behave you would believe that they have more power than any Government in the Region .
I hope that the Guyana Government, takes no nonsense from them . For years
the Governments in the Region have allowed those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , to do as they like , to the detriment of Cricket in the Region .

because it is WICB who is, in large part, funding what is going forward
He didn't mention that those funds were "teefed" from the international players.

It is generally acknowledged that when
YOU are in a Hole ; you need to stop Digging , because at some point You
would be unable to get out of the Hole .
Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , have never heard that ,
expression ; perhaps that is why they are still digging furiously .
I am reminded of the adage :
" YOU CAN FOOL SOME PEOPLE ; SOME OF
THE TIME ; BUT YOU CANNOT FOOL ALL OF
THE PEOPLE ; ALL THE TIME ".
I am of the belief that at this point in time , those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , are very close to running out of excuses for their colossal Failures , their Arrogance knows no bounds ; and their Total lack of Business Acumen , have made them the LaughingStocks of the
Cricket World .
Meanwhile Teams that were once ranked
lower than Our Team have surged past our Team in the longer versions of the game .
That they will attempt to explain is due to having a young & inexperience Team . But that aint the case . They are only out for themselves .
They really don't care about Cricket
in the Region ; nor the status of Our
Team in the International Cricket Arena .
They are only interested in ensuring
that the Structure is never ever changed ; Ask Wilkin ; he was a member of the Board ; and was in charge of the Wilkin Report , which bears his name .
Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are afraid that changing the structure is going to dilute their Power , and that must never ever happen . Even if WE are reduced to Tier 2 .
