With the West Indies cricket team not making the grade for the 2017 Champions Trophy, the daggers will be out once again and of course, they will be aimed at the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and its president Dave Cameron.

Today, I just want to take a clear look at all the parties that must stand up and take blame for the current position in which West Indies finds itself. The anger is not yet out but come 2017, when eight teams go out there to compete for the Champions Trophy title and there is no maroon, the fans will be letting loose.

While the WICB must carry blame, I also think that the players as well as the territorial boards must come out and share some of it. I was in India when the West Indies team left and returned home and the common man in the streets of Dharamshala could have understood the gravity of the situation, yet our players could not.

BEAR MOST OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR

THE CURRENT STATE OF CRICKET IN THE

REGION.

In this forum I have continuously cited the crass irresponsibility of
the Windward Islands Cricket Board asinine idea of reducing the Windward
Islands Tournament to 2 days .

In essence it is cramming 4 innings into 2 freaking days , and then some have the temerity to state that there is nothing wrong with that .

The Windward Islands Tournament used to be played over 4 days , but apparently laziness prevents the Members of the Windward Islands Cricket Board from bestirring themselves and seeking Sponsors to do the Right Things for the Players .

I invite anyone to tell me how cramming 4 innings into 2 days is helping WINDWARD ISLANDS CRICKET when
Players on International Teams ranked above our Team are playing more Cricket than our Players in the Region , in ALL the versions of the game .

Now regarding Players in the Region ,
those who have represented the Region
have no excuse for not buying a Bowling Machine and using it every day .

Bowlers have no excuse for marking out the length of a pitch , putting up a Stump or a Stick , marking a crease ; and an area where batsmen will be in two minds whether to play forward or play back , this area is generally called the corridor of uncertainty . And then bowl to the Stump or Stick , trying to always place the ball in the corridor of uncertainty .

I have always stated in this Forum that Players must show up to represent their Countries in the Region fully fit , those who re unfit must be fined ; and not selected until the are fit .

It aint that I am giving the Players a Free Pass , it is simply that the WICB & the Regional Boards must bear the major responsibility for the State of Cricket in the Region .

If the Players were responsible for the duration of matches in the 3 versions of the game ; and the duration of Camps , I would be very critical of them .

But the truth is that they are not responsible for the duration of Matches , nor the duration of Matches .Those who are responsible for that must in my opinion bear the responsibility for most of what is wrong with Cricket in the Region .

The writer heaps praise on T&T 's ability to develop youngsters. But I did not see any standout new name for some time now. Players developed in the past are still carrying the team and more importantly I did not see him stand up for his players ever.

The writer is looking at the number of Trinies playing T 20 cricket around the world.
Lets be honest, how many trinies are in the CPL compare to the rest of the region?
