The days of a lethal four-prong pace attack in the regional side are long gone. In the eighties and early nineties, the West Indian team was one of the most feared teams in cricket.

It was not just the Clive Lloyds, the Gordon Greenidges, the Gary Sobers, and the Brian Laras just to name a few, who took the world by storm with their phenomenal batting exploits.

It was the fear of having to face up to four genuine quick bowlers, who can be devastating in any conditions. The names Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Colin Croft, Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose on any team sheet would send shivers through opposition batsmen.
These men dominated the game for a long time, and they did not do it by simple brute force; a large degree of their success was due to skill, and thoughtful bowling, and not to mention, superb fitness levels.

This is not News , to Cricket Fans in the Region . The question is this :

WHAT IS BEING DONE TO DEVELOP THEM ??

My take is that the responsibility to
develop ALL Cricketers , belongs to
having youngsters play Kiddies Cricket ; Schools , Clubs ; Coaches ; Cricket Boards ; and ultimately the WICB .

damn idiot! we do have "quality" fast bowlers, they are just not of a high enough quality.

They could start by preparing pitches that encourage fast bowling at the development level. They WI pitches at the moment favor spinners who are not that effective at the International level.
