“There seems to be a lot of exposed electrical wire all over the place and people are getting shocked left, right and centre.” The words of Azim Bassarath president of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) responding to Phil Simmons suspension by the WICB management committee.

Simmons was suspended and will miss the tour of Sri Lanka over comments he made at a press conference in Barbados. The former West Indies all rounder said there was outside interference that was keeping all rounders Dwayne Bravo and Keiron Pollard out of the West Indies ODI team and that he did not have the strongest team at his disposal in Sri Lanka.

The WICB management committee of Michael Muirhead and Richard Pybus decided to suspend Simmons and replace him in the interim with selector Eldine Baptiste. Bassarath who also sits as a director on the WICB said the matter of Simmons’ suspension never came to the directors of the board which he found shocking. “It is strange that a decision is made by the management committee concerning something as serious as this and it did not come to the board.

When Simmons was interviewed for the post of coach the board had to ratify it, so I don’t agree with the management committee making this decision all by themselves.”

Most people on the ground don't care about WI cricket!! Do you not see the turn-out in support for WI cricket in the last couple years. Do you really believe people will support on-going nonsense?

Anyway the Phil Simmons fiasco not over yet.

It indeed will be interesting to see &
hear about the Actions of the T & T
Cricket Board & its President . Perhaps
WE will see whether they have the Testicular Fortitude , to talk about
the Structure of the WICB .

Now if the T & T Board fails to do this ; it will inform me that it is
only attempting to foist a Charade on the People of the Region .

I am therefore awaiting a response
from Mr. Bassarath , regarding the Structure of Cricket in the Region .
My take is that this brouhaha regarding Simmons also has to do with
the Structure of Cricket in the Region .

I am also mindful of the fact that Emperor Cameron is now endowed with more Power that any of the Regional Boards Presidents . Over to YOU Mr. Bassarath .

First, I am Shock by Simmo's statement...
Second, I am shock by the WICB's action....
Thirdly, I am shock that so many ppl are shock.

Any professional know that when they hold a top position he or she should know that they are not allow to publicly undermine any decision made within the system. It's even worst that it's done through the media. I am sure that many of you who are running your chops work for a normal or minimum wage but you too have to watch what you say about your company's decisions, else you will lose your job.

The WICB is taking the India tour walk out very seriously. Although it is happening softly there are actions to show that some of the "trouble makers" are been phased out. The WICB with the help of Clive Lloyd is on a course of a clean rebuilding. And as such they are showing balls by letting the head coach know that the new direction is not going to be derails by his nonsense. So I am shock here because its about time we see some real man-up by the board.

Some of you so-called fans are calling for WI cricket to be resurrected but then you expect the head coach to get just a slap on the wrist for his rashishness. To let the coach go on tour with such mindset would be a weak link which could create an unstable environment. Next thing, the team lose the first match badly and he 'the coach' resign. Had his statement be of, 'I will put my best effort with the young team to get the best out of the..." ...Then the WICB would have been confident that he would weather the storm in any low point on tour.

Listen......West Indies forever bteaking down house and rebuilding. Nothing new......

He should have added that TTCB will reviewing its place in the corrupt WICB set up. That he will speak to the coach about his allegations and if found to be true will go before his Government and ask some direction.
That he will demand from the WICB answers to the allegations.
To say he is shocked is true.
Shocked because Simmonds spoke out.
