Dave Cameron's belief in his invincibility is likely to be decisive in determining the fate of the WICB

Yet another effort has been made to revive long-suffering West Indies cricket. It is likely to be the last.

The necessary medication that needs to be administered was presented last Wednesday in a comprehensive report by an independent committee of eminent West Indians that spent three months in consultation, interviews, deliberations and meetings, fulfilling its mandate to "review the administrative and governance structure of the West Indies Cricket Board".

The review was instigated by Caribbean Community (Caricom) governments, through their cricket governance sub-committee; it was jointly agreed on and the panel in charge was appointed by the Caricom group and the WICB after a straight-talking meeting last April that stressed the urgency of the situation.

Cameron made a supreme effort to keep himself in power...he is arrogant and a bully and will continue to destroy West Indies cricket. What he will NOT do is give up personal power for the greater good.Even Pat Rousseau could not dent his power base with Trinidad and Barbados ( and initially the Jamaican board) recognizing the issue.

Cameron distributes enough patronage to buy off the smaller territories.

West Indies Cricket is in serious trouble and quite clearly, the experiment of Dave Cameron and Emmanuel Nanthan only succeeded in putting the final nail on the casket and therefore, they both should either resign or be fired immediately.
Cameron I do not know much about but Mr. Nanthan, who has brought death to cricket in Dominica, where he is from, has clearly shown that he is a politician and does not have a clue as to how to revive cricket in Dominica, let alone the west Indies.

The question is, who do we replace them with? My humble suggestion is first and foremost we must understand the new era of cricket and we cannot have those of the old era, with an old time mentality to succeed, because they will expect players to be like them, in their playing days.

Based on that, I would suggest Brian Lara and Daren Sammy, who both understand the cricket of today, and both served west Indies cricket well, as president and vice president.

The reason why WE are in this Mess , in my opinion is that many of the Sacred Scribes bluntly refused to be Critical of the Worst International Cricket Board in the World .

They relish stating what others say , but never express their opinions . By not lending their opinions to thorny Issues for many years , wittingly or unwittingly they have emboldened the WICBC to believe that it is empowered to do anything that they want to do .

The Truth is that the WICBC , like it or not have done just that . For years many believed that the People in the WICBC were sacred Cows ; who were never ever to be questioned regardless of whatever egregious things they Did .

That in my opinion is precisely why currently Our Players & Team are Bottom Dwellers in the longer formats of the game .

I have been a Critic of the WICBC for over a decade , I am not interested in where the members of the WICBC come from , they are all rotten to the core .

In this Forum I have been critical of all of them regardless of where they are from . I have been & am a critic also of the Windward Islands Cricket Board which is absolutely the worst
Cricket Board in the Region .

I have stated , and will continue to state , that the idea of the Windward
Islands Cricket Tournament matches are 2 days rather than 4 days ,is asinine .

Cramming 4 innings into two days is totally unacceptable , yet the Windwards Board persists in this farce . My expectation is that this is seriously addressed , when New People are in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

I do not know if you want to take it is a joke but I am sure serious. Right now we need people that understand the new era that we are in if we are going to go recover from the mess we are in. I respect former greats like Viv, Garner, Walsh, and yes, even Lloyd and others, who might all be able to contribute though not as president/ vice president, simply because in their time they were great but cricket was not a money game as it is now and they will try to cut the neck of those who want to make money, instead of using them to build bring back the glory days. No wonder as soon as Lloyd came as chief selector he got rid of Bravo, Pollard, Gayle, Sammy to a lesser extent, and others. Both Lara and Sammy played in that money era and were victims of discrimination; therefore I believe they would better understand the way forward. Trust me, those former players will try to victimize stars and label them as not having the interest of west Indies at heart, and as a result, every two years we will have to be rebuilding and emerging players, as soon as they become stars and wanted by T20 teams will always want to play for their money first, as seen in Russell and Narine. We need leadership that will not be mad with them, but understand the temptation, and work to have them make the money as well as playing for their country. As a reminder, we must not forget Winston Davis who was one of our servants but after he retired and got injured, he had no money to turn to. Such should not be the case with Bravo, Gayle, Russell, Narine and others, who are not only playing for today but also building a future for themselves and family

Another problem I see in west Indies cricket is that of the pay structure of 90 regional first-class cricketers that are under contract and making good money, without no fruit to show. No, I am not against them getting a salary but my question is, what are they getting paid for? What is their job description? Are they paid to stay fit, develop their skill, help spread the game in every village, city, parish, elementary schools as well as high schools, so that in the next two to three years we can see our young boys developing a love for cricket again? I mean how do you pay them without first putting them in a supervised program every day to ensure that the above are accomplished? As far as I can see, they are paid to get fat, unfit, not getting better, and yet they are the pool we have to turn to when we need them.
We need new selectors, and we must use our talents where they fit in best. For example, why should we have a man like Walsh serving as selector and not as a bowling coach, not just for West Indies, but one we can utilize in our schools, parish league and community so he and others could identify emerging players early, and help prepare them for the future? Remember, Ambrose was not a cricketer, but someone identified him early and natured him. That's what I mean.

OFFICE WHILE ALL AROUND THERE IS

FRAGMENTATION IN THE REGION ???

If he does that I can guarantee that
his name will go down in infamy in the Annals of West Indies Cricket ,
Cameron , if that is what you want to do , Go for it .

Hard to read what you saying..but there's a lot of sense inside there somewhere?

Who are the managers of the individual franchises? Do they have a marketing team? Or is the manager equipped to do both.

I live in Jamaica and have heard naught about the Jamaican PCL franchise, not so when it was the CPL.

Why aren't these players who are now being paid, being used to go into the schools, and when they do go, it should be with cameras.

Why aren't players like Gayle, Samuels and Russel engaged by the PCL to go out and do some actual work for cricket at the grassroots for the next generation.

I'm not sure if anything's being done about growing the talent pool, because if it is being done, it cannot be done quietly!!

For all the names being recommended I would really put RAMNARINE in the mix.

While he was the head of WIPA, he just transformed WIPA from a toothless organisation to the one that transformed players compensation and rights big time. Some can say he went too far and that did not help WI. But for his stake holders he did his best.

With an attitude like that, with freedom, he can bring about some change.
