Head coach of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes Reginald Benjamin is asking the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to rule his team’s eight-wicket loss to Windward Islands Volcanoes null and void and replay the match.

The coach’s revelation comes after the four-day match ended after just two days of play with Leeward Islands declaring at 24 for seven on the first day citing a “poorly prepared pitch” at Windsor Park in Dominica.

“I would prefer if we play over the game and we go from there,” he said. “And as one of the former players, who played at the highest level asked, ‘if that was the kind of wicket they want you to play on and perform and then select you to the West Indies, then you will never be selected’; and I can agree with that comment,” he said.

According to the coach, he officially protested the match in which only 386 runs were scored in four innings.

What a load of rubbish...both teams played on the same pitch, and the team that played better on it, won.

Do you think VOR is their adviser in the excuse department?

The LI coach is a sour loser, his team has already lost every game they have played, his team scored the highest total of an inning in the match, batsmen scored fifties and he still have complaints about an unplayable pitch. He should be practicing and coaching his players better.

The thieving Yardies did switch the ball and nothing came of that so I have zero confidence that anything will come of this.

They are not the home team! Game was played in Dominica which is a home game for the Windwards.

However the only player to bat well on that pitch was homeboy Theophile.

I agree Mike. Rubbish!
After they declared to prevent Windwards from getting more bowling points, they bowled out the Windwards for 140. Then they should have made more runs in their 2nd innings on an improving pitch (for batting). The exceeded the WI score by 30 runs but the net was only 55 lead so they needed another 150 at least and did not make it.

In their 24/7 dec, five men were caught which means they got bat on ball but executed bad shots. One was run out which has nothing to do with the pitch and one was LBW probably playing down the wrong line. Bad batting.

These are the 7 dismissals that were blamed on bad pitch...allyuh judge fuh allyuh selves!

Wesdem, as I said, poor batting, not pitch issues. No creeping balls, no unsavoury bounce, no strange movement complained about, but de pitch bad. De fox did seh de grapes did too sour too.

Your telling of the actual method batsmen got out is very instructive. It screams bad batting not bad pitch. VOR has to understand that if you do not understand and address the real problem then it can't be fixed. Face the issue!

Based on most reports the wicket was most difficult to play on that first day! You do not have facting wicket like that on the first day of a cricket match.

Those wickets you posted could have been from uneven bounce and the ball stopping in the turf that prevented proper stroke play. Remember this is the first day of a FC Match!!!


I know if this was Guyana or one of the bigger territories they would be outrageous reaction. Like I said I do not expect zilch to come from this. A ball went missing last year and nothing came out of that not even a reprimand.

This same Leewards team an Innings before this one scored 299 runs!

It is amazing that we lament daily the generally poor prep of our pitches and when Leewards call out a serious case of this we jump and wave is the Batsmen! Forkane Hypocrites!

Call them put Benji! Keep the pressure on! BTW Benji has called out his batsmen before so why he bawling pitch now????
