Red Force vs Jaguars

Debutant Uthman Muhammad and Marlon Richards shared in a ninth wicket partnership of 108 runs to guide the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to a respectable total on the opening day’s play against the Guyana Jaguars at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.

Muhammad and Richards both scored 53 run as the Red Force were dismissed for 210 in the round four West Indies Cricket Board Regional Four-Day match. Medium pacer, Christopher Barnwell was the chief destroyer, taking five wickets for 32 runs. The Jaguars closed the day’s play on nine without loss with Shimron Hetmyer unbeaten on seven and Assad Fudadin not out on two.

Volcanoes vs Pride

 St. George's, Grenada, December 4 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbados Pride were 233 for four off 101 overs in their first innings at the close of play after winning the toss against Windward Islands Volcanoes on the opening day of their fourth round WICB PCL first-class match at the Grenada National Stadium today.

Interest in this PCL is at a new-time low. I'd forgotten this had started yesterday, and I'm struggling to find any threads on this, aside from Guyana vs Trinidad....

Medium pacer Chris Barnwell (5-32) and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul (3-59) combined to dismiss Trinidad for 210, on the opening day of their fourth round match at Queen's Park Oval. It was a sorry batting display by the hosts, who recovered from 102-8 thanks mainly to 53s from tailenders Marlon Richards and Uthman Mohammed. Defending champs Guyana were nine without loss at stumps.

Kyle Corbin hit 68 and Shamarh Brooks 51, as Barbados were well-placed on 233-4 at stumps on Day One at St George's in Grenada. Part-timer Dalton Polius has taken two wickets so far for the Windwards.

There was another shocking batting display at Sabina Park, where 16 wickets fell on the first day. Left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell (5-38 ) and left-arm spinner Nikita Miller (4-53) combined to dismiss cellar-dwellers Leewards for 164, wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton topscoring with 51 not out. Jamaica did even worse when they batted, slumping to 69-6, Gavin Tonge, Alzarri Joseph and Rahkeem Cornwall taking two wickets each so far.

It is either poorly prepared pitches or very poor cricketers, but the PCL is a club cricket standard league, it has been that way for a while, the selectors will really have a challenging job for a while to choose from this pool of players.

Asad Fudadin hit 94 not out and captain Leon Johnson made 92, to put defending champions Guyana in a commanding position at the halfway stage of their four-day match at Queen's Park Oval. The visitors reached 233-3 at the close, with veteran Shiv Chanderpaul on 22, for a first innings lead of 23 with seven wickets in hand.

Once more, there was a day of tumbling wickets, and this time it was at St George's in Grenada, where 18 wickets fell on the second day's play. Spinners Liam Sebastien (4-68 ), Shane Shillingford (3-94) and Dalton Polius (3-30) combined to bowl Barbados out for 296. However, in reply the Windwards could only manage 179 all out, tailender Alston Bobb topscoring with 40 not out, against medium pacer Kevin Stoute (4-30) and fast man Miguel Cummins (3-42). Despite a first innings lead of 117, Barbados batted shakily, reaching 30-2 at stumps.

At Sabina Park, there was a lower-order recovery, as wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh made 73, and allrounder Nikita Miller 51, to help Jamaica make 243 against spinner Rahkeem Cornwall (4-76), and pacers Gavin Tonge (3-76) and Alzarri Joseph (3-46). Trailing by 79 on first innings, the Leewards were struggling at 112-3 at the close of the Day Two. Opening batsman Shane Jeffers was leading the resistance with 55 not out.
