ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – The controversial proposal to dissolve the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) was not discussed when Caricom leaders and the WICB top brass met in St George’s on Friday.

However, the Caricom leaders and WICB ended the preliminary meeting with a decision to continue their dialogue after a WICB board meeting scheduled for next Saturday.

The three- hour meeting, at the Spice Island Beach Resort, focused primarily on the issue of the governance of West Indies cricket.

Officials from both parties told the media that the meeting provided “frank, open and healthy” dialogue.

However, reports from inside the meeting say the Board remained adamant while the Caricom leaders continued to insist on changes.

I was afraid of this. CARICOM must, must insist on dismantlement of the WICB. Nothing less.

As governments, there are many existing laws the governments can legally and morally use to increase pressure on the individuals of the WICB and the territory boards, these includes:

1.Public Shaming
2. Investigations on those individuals- tax filing, audit, other potential fraud they may have committed during their life time that can lead to prosecution
3. Cut off funding at the territory level and apply public pressure for resignations- like what happened in Trinidad.
4. Grass root and media campaign to force them out.


I am really surprise at how cool the public has stayed, it is as if they don't care.

Comeen Point you need to get to the bottom of this.

I totally agree with what you have stated . My take is that Cameron & Co. are stalling for time , with the hope & expectation that this will blow away .

This is their usual Modus Operandi .
It is incumbent on the Regional Governments not to be dissuaded by these Tactics .

My perspective is that the essential
fact is that the Regional Governments
for Years have facilitated the demands & Requests of the WICBC on
each and every occasion , by using TaxPayers Money to do the bidding of the WICBC .

What the Regional Governments have got in return is an Entity that believes that it is answerable to no One in the World , and is aided & abetted in its behaviour by the International Cricket Cabal .

For Years the WICBC has been steeped in Arrogance ; Incompetence ; Ineptness , and lacking in Foresight ; Vision ; Business Acumen & the ability to have Harmonious Relations with its Employees .

I am absolutely and unreservedly for the dissolution of the WICB. I don't agree with you that it is a case of stalling for time. Due process had to be followed so that no one can call fowl. The other territorial boards who themselves each have a stake regarding board reps must be brought into the discussion. It is my hope that most support the needed change. This is allow for a speedy process to the inevitable.

Look the WICBC is a reflection of the views of most of the Territorial Boards . Make no mistake , ALL the
Territorial Boards were involved in the RECKLESS decision to pull the Plug on the Tour to India .

So collectively , Cameron & Co. left
their host the BCCI , with a mountain of Debt . due to their collective RECKLESS Behaviour .

THEY were also involved in the decision to take some of the Senior Players money to pay the Regional Players . Why did Cameron & Co do all this ? THEY did this with the assistance of Wavell Hinds , to make
WIPA a Branch of the WICBC .

That was more important to them than potentially being sued by the BCCI for 42 million dollars . In return for their Coup , both Cameron & Hinds were handsomely Reelected ; with Cameron becoming the Supreme Emperor in the WICBC .

Obviously that being the case , whatever Cameron does , has their
blessings . So Most if not all of the Territorial Boards agree with what
Cameron does . As I have stated elsewhere in this Forum ; the Regional Governments need to go to the International Cricket Cabal , aka the ICC , it is supposed to have some
Clout regarding the WICBC Stewardship
of Cricket in the Region .

Frankly , the ICC has allowed the WICBC to become a Rogue International
Cricket Board , by refusing to insist that the WICBC exercise Good Governance in its Stewardship of Cricket in the Region .

Now if the ICC refuses to do anything , regarding the WICBC Stewardship of
Cricket in the Region ; then WE need
to take both the ICC & the WICBC to Court .

The WICBC does not own Cricket in the Region , it is merely the Stewards of
Cricket in the Region . Let me once again state that the Supreme Court in India told the BCCI in Court , that it does not own Cricket in India ; it is merely the Steward of Cricket in
India . Obviously this also applies to the WICBC .

The joke of it all will be when the same set clamoring for dissolution of the WICB is the same set that will keep the current WICB in tact.

I don't know why some believe that Caricom peeps are clean as opposed to the WICB. Soon all the sticky hands (and suitcases) will be exposed when they fall in line.

I acknowledge your concern regarding CARICOM being no shining star in running their respective countries. However, the WICB is so bad, so out dated, so irrelevant, so toxic that CARICOM action to dismantle and rebuild is required.

CARICOM will not run the affiars, they will act to help create a new set up. The new set up- a governance organization, will run WI cricket. I hope you and others living in the region will become more involved stakeholders.

Caricom can only recommend and propose, they cannot effect any change if the WICB and the parent body ICC is not amenable. Doing so will see the WI risk losing its ICC membership...

That is not true- Pakistan and India have governmental intervention. Are you not familiar with the Supreme Court decision in India?


As far as CARICOM- they have the bully pulpit- so their power of persuasion and recommendation is what will lead to change.

Look at the big macro picture, don't sweat the small stuff about government etc.

Pakistan cricket board makes the WICB look like choir boys. But then again you must admire their efficiency as they had the distinction of firing and rehiring a captain twice in one week end. Not to mention dissolving and reinstating the board overnight. I suppose thats the sort of efficiency to which we aught to aspire.

Many of those who differ are attempting to muddy the Waters .

They prefer to make the focus about Leaders in the Regional Governments rather than maintaining he focus on the State of Cricket in the Region with particularly emphasis on those in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

They are Shills for the WICBC with a myopic perspective :

Frankly , in terms of numbers , and
facts the The WICBC has been allowed
to become a Dictatorship . It has
commissioned several Reports , and rejected the salient recommendations of these Reports .

It has even rejected a request by the
Regional Governments , who took Taxpayers money to ensure that the
2007 World Cup was a resounding success . Talk about who is being disrespectful.

The Regional Governments called for a Meeting on the 4th. December , sometime ago , the Ungrateful Bums , wanted to have the Meeting after the 12th. December , Once again , they displayed their total Arrogance to the Regional Governments , by making
such an asinine statement to the Regional Governments who bailed them out in 2007 .

Therefore , they need to be removed from the governance of Cricket in the Region . The ICC , aka the International Cricket Cabal for many
years has bluntly refused to tell the
WICBC that it needs to exercise good governance in the Region .
