Former director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dr Allen Sammy says that cricket pundits who have been attacking the board have not done their homework.

Sammy said : “Much is being written about the decline of West Indies cricket by commentators who refuse to do their homework. The latest public enemy is the West Indies Cricket Board and its poor governance suggesting that the cricketing world is leaving them behind as they twiddle their thumbs in a mindless vacuum.”

He said that the current board has highly respected professionals who have been trying their best to take the cricket out of the doldrums.

“The construct of the Board’s 18 person’s directorship is a mix of a President, Vice President, four Independent Professionals and two representatives each from six territories (12), not to be confused with 12 territorial representatives. Their agenda is Caribbean Cricket. However, they are mindful at all times that they represent shareholders and must express the views of territorial Boards and their stakeholders.

The Regional Governments MUST NEVER give money to the Dictatorship known as
the WICBC UNTIL & UNLESS IT UNDERGOES

The WICBC aint going to get its cake & eating it just like that .Highly
respected Professionals , does not mean that they are endowed with sound
Business Acumen .

The RECKLESS BEHAVIOUR of the WICBC in India is Proof of this Fact . The
WICBC had an obligation to try and settle the matter with the Players .
It did not do that , it preferred instead to pull the Plug on the Tour . Leaving its Host with a Mountain of debt . Now this aint a figment of my
Imagination .

Dr. Sammy has amply demonstrated , at least to me , why there needs to be a complete restructuring of the Entity
aka the WICBC ; aka , the Worst International Cricket Board in the

Let me again state a Fact , There was
a time when the Windward Islands Tournament Matches had a duration of 4 days . Currently the duration of the matches in the Windward Islands Tournament is 2 Freaking days .

In essence 4 innings are supposed to
be crammed into 2 days . Obviously this is serious Regression . I would like Dr. Sammy to explain this CRAP .Worse yet there are some who are defending this B.S .

The Regional Tournament has a duration of 4 days , but the Windward
Islands Players are condemned to playing 2 days Matches . Yet Dr. Sammy wants US to praise the Board .
Surely You jest Dr. Sammy .

Caricom has very little credibility because they have put very little money into cricket.

Even the updated stadia they built was on the caveat that they would make a windfall from the WC in 2007 and not part of a long term plan to invest in cricket.

The WICB can therefore disregard them because their paymaster is the ICC.

The significant funding government in Australia and England put into sports and cricket entitles them to a significant say in the governance of those sports without having to wield a big stick and get the ire of the ICC up.

The Windward Islands tournament is not a FC tourney. It has never been. Club and village cricket in the OECS is 2 day just like the majority of non fc cricket WORLDWIDE. So whether in Australia or England or most of the Caribbean, club cricket is 2 day in the main. In fact in Australia the grade cricket is played over weekend spans.

The big whoops was the length of the regional FC competition which has only recently changed but still the key is QUALITY cricket. When village cricket in Antigua was at its strongest, 2 day cricket produced the best standard of club cricket outside of Barbados and those players graduated to the regional 4 day competition and Test cricket successfully.

When Windwards played 4 day tourney cricket it was cut because it was a waste of time and money. Back then Leewards operated a 3 day tourney and was far superior to Windwards and was a dominant regional 4 day team in the 90s.

That was because of their TWO day village cricket being of high quality.

Now ? village cricket in both the Leewards and Windwards have regressed but Windwards have a very good youth cricket structure. The primary issue for Windwards at senior level is that they have kept a core together for so long that young players are hitting a wall trying to get into a senior team which needs new blood but is held back by conservative coaching and management. change is needed.

This last year was a very good year for Windwards youth. The u17 team won the regionals, they have the most players in the WI u19 team for their first time in their history and the U15 team were pipped only by Guyana.

I knew sooner or later that you would
show up , the point I am making which
seems to have eluded You & others is this . The Regional Matches , have a duration of 4 freaking days not 2 days .

Do you know of any runner training to run a Marathon , just trains by running 1 mile everyday , until the day of the Race ??? .

Marathons ; 4 days Matches & Test
Matches require that persons concentration are operating at maximum to run that distance ; and in Cricket play for 4 or 5 days .

Obviously Stamina - Mental & Physical are also required , In Cricket as I have stated often here , the ability
to build an innings & have fruitful
Partnerships are key components that
separates Winners from Losers .

It is impossible that playing matches
that have a 2 days duration Players
can improve their Concentration to enough to be helpful in playing 4 or
5 days Cricket .

That also applies to Mental & Physical Stamina . This asinine idea
is setting up Windward Islands Players to fail Regionally , and if selected on the West Indies Team
Internationally .

NO ONE can get around this freaking fact . I have repeatedly stated in this Forum that there was a time when the Windward Islands Tournament was 4 days NO ONE can deny this freaking FACT . So this current asinine 2 days Matches means that Cricket in the
Windward Islands has seriously Regressed .

The gist of what I am stating is that YOU cannot go from 4 days to 2 days and state that you are making Progress , that is the height of
absurdity . But evidently You seem to have a vested interest in this 2 days Nonsense . Shame on You .
