BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Batting sensation Chris Gayle and all-rounder Andre Russell have both been included in the 15-man West Indies squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in India.

Some media reports yesterday announced the squad without Gayle and Russell, sparking some speculation on social media, but

CMC Sports understands that the Jamaican pair are definitely part of the Windies campaign for the March 8 to April 3 tournament.

The squad, which is yet to be named officially by the West Indies Cricket Board, includes embattled off-spinner Sunil Narine who is currently banned from bowling internationally.

However, Narine is expected to undergo testing on his action at Loughborough University in England next month before confirming his spot on the side.

Any T-20 team missing Carlos B, is incomplete.

You do not need a Jerome Taylor in T-20, nor could Jason Holder play in front of Carlos B.

Also, Pollard has to prove his fitness to make this squad. It's still possible that Evin Lewis or Dwayne Smith could replace him.

Pollard is one of the most intelligent players- matured and devoted. I am sure he will pass a fitness test. He is key player. Evin got talent, but not but not yet a first choice and Smith is in poor form now.

I could see a Evin instead of a Marlon.

No surprises there for they are two of the hottest T20 players currently on the T20 circuit and it would be to WI own detriment to play without them.

Just a little Darwinism at work here Drapsey…………natural selection -----selection of the fittest…….just hope this pattern of behavior and thought by selectors will come to dominate the process – it has worked in the past – it is what we call intelligence.

Do you think that this natural selection process could transfer or diffuse in the selection of our test team? Our T20 team is #1 in the world for we have e basically retained the same players, while our test team is everyone's beating stick, so it should be a no-brainer that retaining senior players is best also for our test team.

Yeah – it should be – but our selectors seem to fit into the mold of the broken clock theory – its right once every 12 hours – it’s a paradox – they are right when they malfunction – that is when they are kind a forced to include players who they really don’t want to include……like Gayle and Russell – and even Dwayne Bravo and Pollard………you telling me that our test team is better without those guys

If selectors could learn even from our more recent cricket history that the last time WI won a test series against a reputable or high ranking team was when WI beat England with all our Senior players. Since then they have been trying to dismantle that team with inexperienced younger players much to the continued demise of WI cricket. Selectors need to be cognizant of that fact unless we are no longer concerned about test cricket and test fans, just focusing on T20 cricket.
