VIJAY MALLYA, the Indian entrepreneur who recently paid the reported franchise fee of US$2 million for the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and United Breweries Holdings (UBHL), the company he heads, have been declared “wilful defaulters” by three Indian three state-owned banks.

"willful defaulter" signals a dispute between the parties.
This happens all the time and is usually resolved when the legal teams sort things out.
Don't forget Warren Buffet was a "willful defaulter" also.

Yep. Just that your Savior who was the king of all ponzi schemes got caught and thrown in jail after plundering allyuh skunts. Atleast Mallya is still outside and giving you a bail out.

I don't know why you throwing barbs at me. It's your folks...or at least some poor Indian suckers who suffer most. The CPL peeps get paid and we get to watch the dancing girls.
Id be outraged if I gave a shit about my own people.

You maybe haven't followed this character but this was the same dude whose staff wrote IPL cricketers to ask them to stand with them because whilst they were getting paid Kingfisher staff hadn't been paid in months.
It will come crashing down one day but it's folks in India who will take the hit.
After all Stanford pretty much invented T20 as a commercial sport and the show goes on whilst he gets knocked about in prison. Only thing is Mallya is unlikely to take jail.

Thanks for clearing that up. The last thing we need is for players to not get paid.

I remember that episode. Gayle was with that franchise then.
You're right. Many here just react without getting to the meat of the issue

The issue is "willful defaulter". This is an intentional with-holding of payments because of a disagreement between the parties concerned.
The defaulter in this instance has the liquidity to meet all his financial needs.
That term is used every single day in business disputes and sometimes the dispute is something quite petty.
According to RBI, a willful defaulter is one who has not used bank funds for the purpose for which it was taken and who has not repaid loans despite having adequate liquidity.
You wrote the quote below which aptly applies to yourself because most of the time you don't seem to know what you are talking about.

You seem to be obsessed about winning a theoretical argument based on terminology.
Real Life
Whilst you are doing so, Mallya and his liquidity are having a ball of a time.

No I don't but it seems to be a habit of yours to always oppose for opposing sake.
Do you think the Prime Minister of Barbados would entertain a meeting with this gentleman and give his approval before carefully vetting him, knowing what others went through with the Stanford debacle?
Sometimes it is a good idea to use simple logic and common sense in forming an opinion.
