PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has pushed back on media reports suggesting that a lack of government support was putting at risk any Test match staged at Queen’s Park Oval, during the proposed Home Series between West Indies and India later this year.

Though the West Indies Cricket Board is yet to confirm the series, India are expected to tour the Caribbean in July and August, with one of the four Tests expected to be played at the historic Queen’s Park Oval.

Media reports this week claimed that due to regional grouping CARICOM’s rift with the West Indies Cricket Board over the Governance Review Report, the Rowley government was unlikely to support the staging of the game.

Whether Dr Rowdy backtracks or not, there will be no test at the Oval if Emir has his way.

Dr Rowley doesn't need to backtrack. He never said anything like that and indeed the government has nothing to do with the Oval.

Dave made it up to make it look as if the government cancelled the match ...he needs to have a scapegoat in his ar.

Let me explain why queens park Oval and Trinidad receive less cricket.

First the TTCB has poor relations with the Emperor. They voted against his re election and a TTCB nominated member of WICB publicly resigned citing the lack of governance. The emperor is vindictive and wishes to punish Trinidad for these indignities which he has done for the last two years preventing any international cricket.

At the same time the TTCB is war with the queens park cricket club who own the oval..This really goes back to the animosity between Deryck Murray and TTCB over his failed attempts to get control and his loss of the Presidency,. he managed to take control of QPCC and evict former management and the QPCC is the victim of this feud. This has now become a battle over Sunil Narine and the Tarouba stadium.
Important to understand is that most of this is politics and power not about cricket.However the likely losers areTrinidad cricket fans.I make no comment on who is right or wrong other than to reiterate it has nothing to do with Dr Rowley or indeed the Caricom heads of government.
