HEADLINE: CARICOM seeking legal advice on WICB

CARICOM is actively pursuing legal advice in its ongoing battle with the West Indies Cricket Board, as it ups the ante in its quest to have the controversial recommendations of its Governance Review report implemented .
A CARICOM-commissioned investigative panel, headed by UWI Cave Hill Principal Professor Eudine Barriteau, last November recommended the “immediate dissolution” of the WICB – a proposal which has since been rejected by the embattled board as an “unnecessary and intrusive demand.” Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said yesterday, however, even though the WICB had taken a hard line stance against CARICOM, the regional prime-ministerial grouping did not intend to back down, and was pursuing other avenues .

I am sick to death of hearing all of this hot air from caricom
they were as quiet as a mouse when it was suspected that India would be demanding 42mil for the abandoned tour.
All we will be doing is to exchange one set of bandits for another.
The ones making the most noise have no great history of leadership or a great track record on finances except to line their pockets ..... ...so give it a rest please.
Or better still vote Jamaican Dave out and everyone will live happily ever after
the individual boards are always in a state of unrest ..... what makes anyone think a caricom restructured board/entity will be any better
As for Cozier he is only speaking out because he has lost his entitlement pass.
I said it before and I will say it again,we have been in a mess from the time Richie took over as Captain in fact you could say from the time Lloyd stood down.
He left us with a team can't say the same when Viv stood down and it was compounded under Richie's stewardship.

Welll...well...well...
Hitting you over the head has actually knocked some (a little!) sense into you! There is hope for you, after all.

Have CARICOM heads of Government figured out that the WICB directors are representatives from their own local regions and perhaps if they want to influence the WICB they can do so through their own local representatives that live in the same damn country they reside.
If CARICOM cant figure this out, you sure they can articulate a useful recommendation that would make a difference.

Please explain exactly how the government can make a difference with your local board?
Are you talking about stopping all funding to the local association immediately, sending the Ministry to go put padlocks on the doors and stop paying the light bill?

So then the Public has a RIGHT to know
what exactly was the purpose of commissioning these Reports when the
WICBC had absolutely no intention of
implementing the changes recommended by the LUCKY REPORT ' THE PATTERSON REPORT
THE WILKIN REPORT ; THE JOINT CARICOM/
WICBC REPORT .
Many here seem blithely oblivious of this fact :
THAT IT WAS THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS
WHO USED TAXPAYERS MONEY IN TO BUILD
NEW STADIA ; REFURBISH EXISTING
STADIA ETC .
THE 2007 CRICKET WORLD CUP COULD NOT
HAVE BEEN HELD IN THE REGION .
WITHOUT THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES OF
THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS .
The BLOWHARDS in this Forum , keep ignoring the fact that the current Structure of the WICBC has been in place without any changes since 1927 , that is 89 freaking years ago .
In essence the WICBC is talking about
having a name change . That to me would be like buying a new 2016 Suit , and wearing it with a 89 years old
pair of shoes .
ALL the Reports they were commissioned so far have emphatically stated that there must be changes to the structure of the WICBC , yet despite all this the people in the WICBC have adamantly refused to take
on board the Recommendations of these Reports .
The Regional Governments have never stated that they are going to run Cricket in the Region , in fact they are not allowed to do that .
They however can set up an Interim Committee to run Cricket until there are Fresh Elections for Officers .
I invite ALL to read the formation of the Pakistani Cricket Board it is very interesting .
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE PRESIDENT
OF PAKISTAN HAS FIRED THE
PAKISTAN CRICKET BOARD FOR
IRREGULARITIES .
He then appointed a Chairman & an
AD HOC Committee to govern Cricket in
Pakistan until there were fresh Elections for Officers .
POINT

Why is it that the WICBC is unable to
attract Financial Sponsors , when it is
the best run Cricket Board in International Cricket . ????
Why is it that Our Players in all the versions of the game playing less Cricket than their Counterparts in International Cricket ???
Why is it that the standard of Cricket in the Region is PISS POOR in comparison to other Countries ranked above our Region ???
Why is it that in the longer versions of the game Our Players are Bottom Dwellers ???
I guess that ALL that is the fault of the Regional Governments . The fact is as I have stated many times in this Forum ; Taxpayers Money was instrumental in helping the BUMS host
the 2007 Cricket World Cup .
Yet the BUMS snubbed the Regional Governments when the REGIONAL GOVERNMENT asked them to implement the changes recommended by the Patterson Report .
THEY ignored the fact that it was the same Regional
Governments to made it possible for them to host the Cricket World Cup ,
That was a success in all respects . They are really very Ungrateful BUMS .
This ain something that I dreamed up or a figment of my imagination . When all the Fluff is distilled ; this is really about the fact that they absolutely have absolutely no intention of changing their 89 years old Structure .
They have foisted a cruel HOAX on the People in the Region ; the Commissioning of these Reports was only to Bamboozle Everyone in the Region . That is precisely why THEY
ALL HAVE TO GO .

Don't ask me to do CARICOM work for them. But picture this. You have no influence over the man in you own back yard. But you deciding to take down the other 12 who live outside u fence, over the hill and across the river and the seas. You even thinking of approaching an even more powerful group in the ICC across the ocean. Meanwhile u walking pass the man in you backyard everyday and you cant even look at him sideways.
Whats wrong with that picture.

Not so. There is a big difference between the "Front page" and the "Rum shop or "back room". The later 2 sections were designed for posters, who account for a small amount of our traffic. We attempt to keep it relative to the posters..which is why we tacked LSC April BBQ notice with a sticky...for example.
But our money is made by the front page traffic..fans who only want to see the news..not so much the comments. This is what pays for the Curry goat match.
I often troll the Rum Shop to find news that should be on the front page...so please keep on posting..it helps me out.
Walk good.

The perfect solution would be for the
Regional Governments to get ALL the Bills that they incurred to take TaxPayers Money to do what needed to be done for the WICBC to host the 2007
Cricket World Cup .
Present that Bill to the WICBC , and
demand payment from the ungrateful BUMS .The WICBC claimed that it paid back a loan of 10 million dollars that it had
borrowed from unknown Sources .
As I stated at the time , and have stated in this Forum since that time . The WICBC came to the Regional Governments with hat in hand .
THE ONUS WAS THEN ON THE REGIONAL
GOVERNMENTS TO EXTRACT FROM THE WICBC
A LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENT STATING
THAT THE WICBC WILL UNDERGO SERIOUS
STRUCTURAL CHANGES . IN EXCHANGE FOR
FINANCIAL HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENTS .
The fact is that at that juncture the Regional Governments had the Members of the WICBC over a Barrel , but the
Regional Governments let them off the Hook .
If the Regional Governments had done what I stated at that time , the current mess could possibly be have been avoided .

CARICOM govts trying to wrestle and dismantle a board duly elected by its shareholders.
Hope the people within the region will come to the understanding that they too can overthrow their government!
They are setting a good example, hopefully the people will stop being sheeple
The governments within the region have no time for greater integration among the people, yet they do have time, energy, and strength for a little cricket board.
In addition, not one of these current leaders within the region can boast any record of meaningful change and significant development within their own country.
They can't even come to any consensus about a Caribbean Court
Most of the people are still poor and hungry!
The Brits gave the people Cricket and UWI for integration, what has the current leaders given?

Maybe I was dream , but I thought the
Government of Guyana took the GCB to Court some years ago ???
Some people seem believe that Cricket Boards are Sacred Cows and cannot be
removed . I am not a subscriber to that B.S.
As I stated , the Governments who
took Taxpayers money , and spent it assisting the WICBC to host the 2007
Cricket World Cup should total up the
money they spent and present the Bill to the WICBC .
It is really astounding , that all this is about the WICBC ADAMANTLY refusing to change its 89 years old
Structure .
