HEADLINE: Rowley maintains bankruptcy would have been best for board

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley still wishes the Indian Cricket Board’s (BCCI) US$42 million claim for damages had resulted in the bankruptcy of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Speaking here earlier this week, Rowley said in light of the board’s continued opposition to governance reform, bankruptcy would have forced the collapse of the institution and hopefully resulted in the birth of a new structure.

“I have said publicly before that I had become very excited when the management — the current board — had taken action that could have led to the bankruptcy of the board,” Rowley said.

“Because when they incurred that $42 million charge in India, I was hoping that the Indian board would press for their money and would have bankrupted West Indies cricket and we would have come out of that with a new arrangement, given the recalcitrance and the bombast that comes from the West Indies Cricket Board no

The reason why that did not happen is due to the fact that Cameron & Co quickly signed on to England ; Australia & India getting the Lions share of the ICC Profits .

They were also apparently bribed by
having Tours . ALL this informs me that the International Cricket Cabal aka the ICC needs to be thoroughly Investigated .

The fact is that the Regional Governments writing Letters to the ICC & the BCCI makes absolutely no sense in my opinion .

The only real course open to the Regional Governments is to take both
the ICC & the WICBC to Court and let them Testify under Oath regarding their actions .

In my opinion both the WICBC & the
ICC have been , and are derelict in their respective responsibilities in Cricket . It is asinine that 7 Cricket Boards allowed themselves to be coerced , and possibly bribed by
Tours , from England ; Australia &
India .

Obviously the ICC , like the WICBC are not Paragon of virtues , hence my
insistence that the Regional Governments take both the ICC & the
WICBC to answer Serious Questions regarding their respective Stewardship of Cricket .

This is a very serious matter , that demands Answers under oath . Because
3 Countries , England ; Australia &
India essentially hijacked the ICC .

For many years WE in the Region have been saddled by the WICBC , and there
exists concrete evidence that despite
commissioning several Reports . The
Members of the WICBC had, & have absolutely no intention of changing
their 89 years old Structure .

The Regional Governments have a responsibility to hear from Justice Lucky ; Former PM Patterson ; & Mr. Wilkin QC ; regarding their Reports .

In my opinion , those Gentleman I have listed should have been called to testify , when the Regional Governments and the WICBC recently had their joint Committee .

Obviously , the onus now is on the Regional Governments , in my opinion , to here from the Authors of the
Reports commissioned by the WICBC .

So that the General Public can make
an assessment about this Mess . I would also like the Authors to be asked why in their opinion , the WICBC has refused to take on board
the salient features of their Report .

Is there anything legally or otherwise that could stop CARICOM from setting up thier own establishment for running cricket in the Caribbean? Indeed Packer and Stamford etc did start their own thing and challenged the establishment. What are your thoughts on the matter?

First let me address what P.M. Rowley stated ; I like him was hoping that
the WICBC would have been financially liable for its RECKLESS BEHAVIOUR .

THE WICBC CANCELLED THE TOUR WITHOUT

EVEN TRYING TO SOLVE OR SALVAGE THE

TOUR .

Let me once again state the fact that
it is the Governments in the Region who made it possible for the WICBC to
host the 2007 Cricket World Cup .

IT WAS THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS WHO

USED TAXPAYERS MONEY TO MAKE THE 2007

CRICKET WORLD CUP VERY SUCCESSFUL .

It is the WICBC who snubbed the same
Regional Governments , when the latter politely asked the WICBC to
implement the recommendations of
the Patterson Report . This is why in
my opinion they are BUMS .

THE WICBC AFTER SNUBBING THE REGIONAL

GOVERNMENTS , TO SHOW ITS ARROGANCE

THEN COMMISSIONED ANOTHER REPORT ;

THE WILKIN REPORT , WHICH IT SWIFTLY

DISMISSED .

I am of the opinion , that the Regional Government when they have their Meeting in July , should invite
Justice Lucky ; former P.M . Patterson & Mr. Wilkin Q.C . to their
Meeting in July and let these Gentleman ,in a Public Forum setting
talk about their Individual Reports
that were dismissed by the WICB.

THEY SHOULD ALSO BE ASKED WHAT IN

THEIR OPINIONS THEY BELIEVE THE WICBC

DISMISSED THEIR REPORTS , AND

PREFERRED TO CLING TO THEIR 1927

STRUCTURE .

My belief is that the General Public
will have an opportunity to hear from the Authors of these Reports , THEY
have not been heard from Publicly regarding their Reports .

Hopefully this would be a catalyst for the General Public in the Region
on learning that Cameron & Co were
only fooling the Public by commissioning these Reports but had & have absolutely no intention of implementing any of the salient Recommendations of the any of the Reports .

I also hope that the Prime Ministers in the Region , will go to the Meeting in July armed with the Bills that were incurred to facilitate the WICBC hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup .

To show the General Public that it
was Taxpayers money that was used to Build New Stadia , Renovate
Stadia & Spruce up the Grounds .

Make absolutely no mistake , the WICBC did not spend any money in hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup
that was held in the Region . Yet it
made millions of dollars . This is
precisely why I stated in this Forum that the WICBC , in 2007 were :

THE REAL PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN .

Rowley has a point.

The BOARD would have had a "natural" dissolution but I can assure you that an interim committee would have still ensured that we were at T20WC all now and that regional matches continued.
