Darren Sammy's emotional speech after winning the World Twenty20 for the second time has landed on a few ears, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) being one of them. The members of the much-maligned cricket board have agreed to sit down with Sammy for negotiations in May 2016, according to an ESPNCricinfo report.
After being criticised for not supporting the team, WICB president Dave Cameron stated that he would meet the players in May and find a "common ground" where the best cricketers from the region can represent West Indies.
During the post-match presentation, Sammy made strong statements against the board. The West Indies skipper, told he received mails, messages and well-wishes on the eve of the final, but was "very disappointed" not to have heard from WICB. Cameron, reacting to Sammy's outburst, termed the comments "inappropriate" and said he was disappointed to hear that from his captain.

Wonder if Digicel Dave remembes how inappropriate it was to sell the rights of players down the river to Digicel

As usual, Cameron's & the WICB's first instinct is to punish forthright comments by our aggrieved players after a perfunctory "investigation".
There is nothing to 'investigate' in what Sammy said. He was a right in speaking truth to power and calling out the incompetent & vindictive WICB, as Gayle was in 2011 in doing virtually the same thing.
Has Sammy played his last game for WICB / West Indies?
More than likely, given this dictatorial cabal's track record!
At least, if this is Sammy's swansong, he has salvaged some self - respect in making his exit.

Cameron might have agreed to speak to the players, but has stressed that things are not going to change moving forward, "We are fully aware of the financial rewards on offer in the lucrative international T20 leagues, but we believe deeply in the importance of cricket to the people of the region and of West Indies cricket's place in world cricket. It is therefore a priority to have all of our players competing and available for selection. We will also engage the ICC on this so that we protect not only the rich heritage and legacy of West Indies Cricket, but also its future.
1. Why speak to them if you don't intend for anything to change.
2. Why talk about being fully aware of the financial rewards in other leagues when you are ignoring it in making your decisions (when its impact is extremely critical to the game regionally and internationally?
3. WRT playing in regional competitions as a priority, maybe one thing he missed is that, because the players are in other tournaments, the quality of play has improved. So requiring them to play in regional competitions is a 1970's idea that is nonsensical.
4. DC and company cares less about the heritage and legacy, yet wants ICC to appreciate it? How stupid is that?
He just doesn't get it.

He's probably played his last game, but I don't think it should be because he'll be victimized. In my opinion, Sammy the player should now be moved on, and perhaps be hired as a mentor for the team and new captain. He's been a great ambassador and should be very proud of his achievements on the international front. He's highly respected and has done very well, considering he's isn't the most talented player out there. Take a bow Darren Sammy, you have been brilliant and you are an infectious personality with plenty still to offer West Indies cricket.

Is this really You , YOU are the person who stated in this Forum that I was bitter . Hence my criticisms of Cameron & Co .
I have One philosophy , which is this :
WHEN I KNOW THAT I AM RIGHT ,I AM NOT
GOING TO APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT I STATE
HERE OR ELSEWHERE .
This is why I will always insist that
Cameron & Co either change their 89 years old Structure or get out of the
Stewardship of West Indies Cricket .
I see some people here , not you , talking about the Regional Governments not better , but they fail to take into consideration , the fact that Governments in the Region
have to deal with Opposition Parties , and face the Electorate .
The WICBC has little or no opposition since most of those who tell Us that
they are Sports Journalists are either friends of those in the WICBC or are coerced by the WICBC .
This is how the People in the WICBC
derives its power , and ultimately the Region is ill served by the WICBC being in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

By now you need to realize that Cameron is the Master of Deception . It was Cameron who state recently that the WICBC had a Financial Surplus .
Now that being the case , why was it that Rawle Lewis at to go from Dubai to India to source a Company for Players
Uniforms ??
Cameron will say anything & Do anything to ensure that the WICBC's
Structure remains unchanged .
Currently he is scurry all about like the Character in Alice in Wonderland .Doing this that & the other while in actuality he is not doing a Damn thing . Simply rearranging the Decks
on the WICBC to look relevant .
All this to try ensuring that the
Regional Governments do not force the WICBC to change its 89 years old Structure .

POINT.
The fundamental difference here is timing.
The only way something truly changes is from within.
as you like to do..
I have often said this on this Forum- The Players have to revolt ...Chris tried and got little support...this time around ...Sammy has chosen the best stage in the world and the timing was perfect.
Sammy the former chosen one has now become the main catalyst for world wide attention to these affairs...
That is effective...and he has partnered so to speak with the same people you were calling for...Mitchell...
That is impactful and the timing was perfect...you see where I am going with this when juxtaposed to your daily report?

I understand what You have stated ,
However I aint bound by no freaking Strictures or Timing . WE live in
Democratic Countries , and as a result
WE are free to express our Views , and
I certainly do not intend ANYONE to
prevent me from stating my opinion .
The Idea of saying that the WICBC has agreed to meet with the Players is ASININE . It also smacks of having a
condescending Attitude , since it suggest that they are not compelled
to meet with their Employees .
This is precisely why they have to Go
voluntary or involuntary . I hope that the Regional Governments use all the Power at their disposal to humble
these Buffons .
I can already see that when the Wehby Panel submit their Report , Cameron is going to say yes we will change the Structure , because it was the
the WICBC that selected the Wehby Panel .
Essentialy , the Lucky Report ; the Wilkin Report * the Wilkin Report were simply delaying tactics by the
WICBC , to fool people into believing
that they are going to change the Structure .
Essentially appointing the Wehby Panel is just a face saving measure
to let the WICBC down gently . The
Regional Governments need to impose Taxes on the WICBC , & also insist that they put their money in a Regional Bank rather than some Offshore Bank .
Many here are attempting to muddy the waters , by writing about Governments
being worse than the WICBC . Interestingly , Governments in the Region , have to deal with their Opposition Parties , and the Press .
That surely aint the case with the Members of the WICBC . They do not have to deal with any opposition , and the Press in the Region is always friendly to them .
That is precisely why they are so Arrogant & Incompetent . I really would like to know what the Hell is so precious about their 927 Structure .

Bro, Darren Sammy is a much better player than he believe he is. I saw his guy before he played for West Indies and was convinced if he'd accepted his ability as a batsman he could have become a genuine top order batter. Alas he accepted a label given to him as having heart but little talent.

Sammy s no less talented than any of the cricketers we have. Not playing in the three formats of the game has hurt him though, simply because he is not playing enough.
That said, Sammy is an exemplary young man that ALL West Indians should have been proud to have representing them.
For me, if he has played his last game for the WI, he has much to be proud of, and I as a fan of WI cricket will always hold him in the highest esteem.

Can the WICB new willingness to meet with the senior players indicate tacit agreement that Wavell Hinds' WIPA does not represent them?

No he hasn't and that's what they are going to talk to him about. He is going to receive an offer he can't refuse and all will be forgiven.
He has been there before (board man) and done dat.....

Maybe he'll want to retire, and just play in the T20 leagues....Working for the WI team has been a very tough gig, even though he did it whole heartedly and with a smile on his face.

Yep. The IPL/Big Bash effect is similar to the English County effect we had in the 70s & 80s. Guys like Russell, Simmo etc would not have developed to the level they are at now simply by playing in the Caribbean T20.

At least Governments have to face Opposition Parties in Parliament , and the General Public every 4 years .
Emperor Cameron , do not face any Opposition , and have coddled the Media
, show me a link where Tony Becca was or is Critical of the WICBC ???
Evidently you have joined the ranks of those who are desperately trying to muddy the waters . Perhaps you can state why Cameron et al , bluntly
refuse to change the 89 years old Structure , despite commissioning several Reports which they Ignored .
The people in WICBC inherited the Board from those who were wealthy , and of a different pigmentation , are are hell bent on duplicating those
people .
Essentially Cameron & Co are
Genuine MIMIC MEN ,who relish displaying their total Arrogance ,
Lack of Civility , Incompetence ; and
an inability to foster harmonious
relations with its Employees .
Imagine HE cancelled the Tour to India without even attempting to salvage the Tour . Leaving his host with a mountain of Debt . A Sane Person would never behave in such an Asinine manner .
