HEADLINE: 'WICB the most unprofessional board in the world' - Bravo

CaribbeanCricket.com Apr 6, 2016, 3:00:19 AM

In a scathing attack on the WICB, West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has called the board "most unprofessional" and its president Dave Cameron an "immature", "small-minded", "arrogant" person, who he believes is at "personal war" with his own players. Bravo made the comments during a Skype interview with CNC3, a television network based out of Trinidad & Tobago.

Bravo has had several run-ins with the WICB in the past. As ODI captain, he led West Indies' pull-out from the India tour over player-payment issues in October 2014, and since then has not featured in the ODI squad, lost his retainer contract, and had even been removed as captain of his regional T&T team in the domestic one-day tournament. Being victimised by his own board, Bravo said, was nothing new and so he would not be surprised if West Indies' Twenty20 captain Darren Sammy is disciplined by the WICB for being critical of the board after the team won the World T20 for the second time on Sunday evening in Kolkata.

"I'm yet to hear from our own cricket board. That is very disappointing," Sammy had said at the post-match presentation. "For today, I'm going to celebrate with these 15 men and coaching staff. I don't know when I'm going to be playing with these guys again because we don't get selected for one-day cricket…" Hours after that, the WICB sent out two media releases. The first one congratulated the players on their achievements, but in the second release Cameron said he would inquire into Sammy's remarks.

It is my understanding that Cameron has
a MSC in Hotel Management ; yet he behaves very Arrogant & Uncouth . This in forms us that he lacks the skills
necessary to be successful in his Role
as the Head Emperor of the WICBC .

Cameron & the other Emperors always fly
into a Rage whenever the Players tell them that they are stark naked . Obviously , if when the Emperors meet
with the Players , they are treated
disrespectfully .

I guess that there is a Rule in the
WICBC that emphatically states that
the Members of the Board are Masters
and the Players their Servants . Perhaps that is why they are hugging their 89 years old Structure so tightly .

It will be interesting to hear & read
what Cozier , Fazeer ; Becca et al have to say . Because in my humble opinion , THEY are the persons who
for years have enable the WICBC , to the point where the latter has over
time become more Arrogant & lacking in Civility .

As far as I am concerned, Bravo shouldn't even be in any West Indies team, considering the disgrace he caused to be heaped upon all West Indians when he stupidly and unprofessionally aborted the tour of India. This guy ended up causing the WICB to be indebted to the BCCI by millions of dollars. What this guy should be doing is volunteering to give back some of his barely earned fees to the board to help defray some of this cost he is responsible for.

I am not praising the board but I see it that these players feel free to degrade the WICBC on the media and in front of millions because they know that their bread is buttered elsewhere. This will not solve the problem. Yes, there is mismanagement of WI Cricket but I do not trust those players. Some of them are not even dedicated to WI cricket.

Hope he has the balls to criticize his other non-West Indian employers when they slip up. Bravo and others do not understand the value of measured speech in a public forum, or controlling emotions when angry.

Is he leadership material? I think not!

Oh well, we should not expect every sportsman to show maturity and statesmanship because their primary trade is taking wickets and catches and scoring runs...

West Indian people accept mediocrity and are too sensitive for their own good, the honest truth is that the WICB does an extremely poor job of managing their product.

WICB's mismanagement will affect West Indies touring opportunities in the future, why would anyone want West Indies to tour if they can simply get their T20 stars to play in their leagues ? If Carlos Brathwaite, DJ Bravo, Gayle, Samuels, Badree, Russell and Pollard are all playing in the BBL or the IPL then what is the incentive for countries such as Australia or India invite a West Indies team to tour ?

Here is the effect of the WICB putting a substandard product on the pitch.

Endorsed!

The Board should have gotten rid of all of the ring leaders long ago - I blame Cameron for allowing them to continue!

If they had done that there would have been no CHAMPIONS!!! lol

Why would WICB or its supporters care? Like WICB the stadard statement would be we are building for a team 10 years down the line...

WICB ensured that all the Match winners are dropped for some reason or the other in the same fear they had. They will over grow us and would not tow their line... unfortunately they had won twice and WICB has had headaches both the times...

WICB will never allow the WI team to play full strength ever because when they win WICB looks helpless.. WICB would have loved them to have lost in the first round so taht they can blame the T20 Stars as the useless club cricketers and sideline them. That would have solved the problem. Now players seem to have more and more support because they are "Champions" How sad for WICB and its fans

This is called cutting off your head to get rid of a few grey hairs.

Old school management style. Solves nothing.

Cotravasi is part of their job description. Publicity good or bad is still Publicity. Years of complaining about lack of professionalism but they keep signing the same controversial contracts. Can you imagine Sammy complaining about getting pink shorts instead of black.
lol lol lol lol lol lol

Agreed....I decided to go to the June triangular in Barbados....booked planes and accommodation. You know they changed the itinerary last week changing dates of games and deciding they start at 2.30 instead of 9.30.

They have no idea how to manage their product.

They still ain't finalist an Nadia tour in July.

Why can't they get anything done in a timely manner.

The people in the WICBC derive their power from their Lackeys and Charlatans in the Media , who are always willing
to castigate the Players while saying nothing about the gross Incompetence
of the WICBC .
