HEADLINE: WICB PRESIDENT - HISTORY WILL VINDICATE ME

CaribbeanCricket.com Apr 11, 2016, 3:23:52 AM

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Under-fire West Indies Cricket Board president, Dave Cameron, has pushed back on recent widespread criticism of his leadership, and says he has always acted in the best interest of West Indies cricket.

Cameron, who was elected to the top post three years and successfully gained re-election last year, said much of the criticism he had received was “absurd” and argued he would be eventually vindicated by history.

The Jamaican has been fending off criticism ever since captain Darren Sammy during a post-match interview blasted the WICB for “disrespecting” the players, after West Indies won the Twenty20 World Cup in India last Sunday.

“I am not here to destroy the game. We just won three World titles and the feeling is I want to mash it up,” Cameron told the Nation newspaper here.

“I can’t believe some of the criticism I am receiving. It is absurd. My heart is with the Caribbean 100 per cent. I am a Caribbean man. I am for the good of West Indies cricket.”

Just get off yer high horse; u aren't a king or lord! Meet n greet players...sometimes U need to be seen. That simple; tea n water as d guyeez used to say!

It would be in your best interest to entertain more engagement with players and fans, select a test team with the best players including experienced players, select a touring A-team, provide WI players with contracts based on prevailing cricket market rates to promote commitment to WI cricket and implement greater youth cricket training and training facilities.

ALL because of their Colossal Arrogance
and Stupidity . I am reminded of the
Kindergarten Story of Humpty Dumpty .
This was a long time coming .

The Regional Governments spent 500 million dollars of TAXPAYERS MONEY to
enable the WICBC to host the 2007
Cricket World Cup in the Region .

YOU just cannot brush the Regional Governments off by refusing their request to implement the changes
recommended by the Patterson Report .

Then to add insult to injury , YOU
immediately commissioned another Report that that you also discarded .

SO HIT THE ROAD JACK

Its simply amazing that three world cupshave been won and the WICB are clueless as to use, ride and maximize on this success going forward. This could be the tool or catalyst to re invent and reconcile going forward....

But ....same old same old

When People are full of themselves and
very Arrogant to boot , such thoughts
that you have stated here are never ever in their minds .

That is all because they think of themselves as being their Own Bosses
and do not have to answer to anyone .

It is their contemptuous attitude , buttressed by their 89 years old Structure , that has made them believe that they do not have to answer to ANYONE .

In my opinion , it is the ICC that has spawned these MONSTERS . Talking
a lot of B.S about Governments must not intervene in Cricket .

Meanwhile in the International Cricket Cabal , aka the ICC three Countries , ENGLAND ; AUSTRALIA &
INDIA , collectively decided to hijack most of the ICC Profits ; by coercing the other 7 Members to agree
to their Request .

Perhaps the championships would have come earlier, had Cameron and Otis not started fighting with players, board officials and even journalists they considered opponents - without true regard for WI cricket.
The championships came despite Cameron and his minions. They provided the bare minimum for all the teams, with the usual hiccups over pay, uniforms, hotels, etc.

Dave knows what it takes to win..He is from a nation and culture that knows what it takes to win.
Get pissed all y'all want but we won three titles under his stewardship..
Cameron is no saint and a lot to be reckoned with especially if you do not have a winning mentality.

Neither HIS STORY OR HISTORY will
ever Vindicate Cameron & the Board .

Some time 2007 April Mr. Rawle Brancker
was invited to deliver a Speech at the
UWI's Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Lecture .

Apart of what Mr. Brancker stated appeared in this very Forum dated
4.27/07 - 3:10razzM .Let me quote some
of what he stated that is relevant to
this very day .

" THE INACCEPTABLE DECLINE OF OUR

CRICKET , THE BOARD's APPARENT

DISCONNECT WITH THE PLAYERS AND

SUPPORTING PUBLIC AND ITS SEEMINGLY

UNWILLINGNESS TO BE TRANSPARENT AND

ACCOUNTABLE " .

What Mr. Rawle Brancker stated then
is still relevant to this very day .
I hope People in this Forum will meditate on the fact that nothing has changed regarding what Mr. Brancker stated at that Sir Frank Worrell
Memorial Lecture .

Let me remind all that Today is the 11th April 2016 .

POINT Apr 12, 2016, 6:57:52 AM

In reply to buds

The fact of the matter is that the People in the WICBC are not doing their
Jobs . THEY BLUNTLY REFUSE TO

ADMINISTER GOOD GOVERNANCE OF CRICKET

IN THE REGION .

My reason for citing what Mr. Rawle
Brancker stated , is that this is a
SYSTEMIC PROBLEM REGARDING THOSE WHO

ARE STEWARDS OF CRICKET IN THE REGION .

BTW. WHAT THE SUPREME COURT IN INDIA

TOLD THE BCCI ALSO APPLIES TO THE

WICBC .

The Court in India stated that the
BCCI does not own Cricket in India they are only the Stewards of Cricket
in India . This also applies to the
WICBC , whether they like it or not .

I guess that it does not trouble that
in the History of West Indies Cricket
the WICBC has been perpetually at war
with its Employees . That does not happen frequently in other International Cricket Boards .

For years the WICBC has been at war
with its Employees , it should be obvious to sensible Persons that having harmonious relations with One's Employees are necessary ingredients for consistent, and sustained Success .

buds Apr 12, 2016, 1:07:21 PM

In reply to POINT

I agree that harmony is ideal with the players and board but let's be serious.Friction is part of the fabric in any relationship..Ideal is not required for you to do your job...If you do not like your status vis a vis your Employer go find or play cricket elsewhere. But do not pretend you have WI cricket at heart because nuff of them platers6 action betray their so-called commitment to the region and Fans.

In reply to buds

So what you are stating is that the Employer is always Right , and the Employees have to live with that .

Any business run like that can never ever be profitable . Frankly what you have stated makes no sense in my opinion .

I gather from what you have stated
the Employer is never ever Wrong . It is always Right even when it is wrong .That sort of thinking will never work .

You seem to be suggesting that the
WICBC is totally infallible , and when it makes mistakes those mistakes
must be overlooked . I simply cannot
accept what you have stated here .

POINT Apr 13, 2016, 1:39:01 PM

In reply to buds

So I guess that you are in full agreement with England ; Australia &
India coercing the other 7 Members to
agree that those 3 Countries must take the Lions share of the ICC Profits .

That I must say is brilliant ; Cameron & the Board will agree to anything , as long as they can keep their 89 years old Structure . You really are a Piece
of Work .

WI administration of cricket is a unique one that poses many challenges..Try running an organization that in effect is the only thing that makes an island relevant in the wider world.Every Tom Sick and Harry looking for favours and seeking legitimacy.
We are not one territory..WIC needs a strong hand because the territorial boards and people act like kids.
Cameron is not without fault and be has said some inappropriate stuff but, dealing with kids ...nuff headaches.
From the Eastern top of the Caribbean to South America...and all the shyte in between makes things difficult..

So previous WICB presidents didn't face those same issues?

Maybe you should look more closely at the history of past WICB presidents. WI presidents have all been chased out of office. All at some point been embroiled in some controversy during their tenure that cause them to leave unceremoniously. And if you examine the issues they may or may not be that different from today, just varying degrees of personality and organizational struggles. From Hall to Teddy Griffith, to ole leatherface and now Dave and perhaps a few in between and before and more to come. All are people that have enjoyed tremendous success outside of WI cricket before being tarnished by controversy of some sort and leave often times in disgust and frustration. So contrary to popular belief what happening with Dave now is nothing new and after he leaves its just next man up, until the honey moon is over when we will be right back where this started.

POINT Apr 14, 2016, 6:21:55 AM

In reply to Priapus

Perhaps if the Structure is changed things regarding governance would improve .

BTW it is very likely that if the WICBC
over a period of time demonstrates :

GOOD GOVERNANCE ; TRANSPARENCY AND

ACCOUNTABILITY THAT MAY INDUCE THE

REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS TO INVEST

FINANCIALLY IN THE ENTITY .

The lynchpin is this :

THERE MUST HOWEVER BE SERIOUS

STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE WICBC .

POINT Apr 15, 2016, 3:47:25 PM

How can History vindicate Cameron & Co
when they are now begging the same Governments they Snubbed about a year
ago , to assist them in hosting
International Tour Teams coming to the Region ???

Cameron Boy , you need to get off your
