HEADLINE: WICB statement on disolution of the board

April 20 – Restructuring in today’s sporting world simply means choosing the best model for the sport at the time. This may best be defined by the resultant effect of an economic impact model which clearly states that revenue-sharing is vital for all stakeholders. In an ongoing effort, the WICB in its financials for the year ending September 30, 2015, reported a surplus (US$3.5 million) which resulted in the deficit being reduced to just under US$2 million.
The WICB has over the last decade commissioned several reports whose results have largely been implemented. The one recommendation that has not been favoured by the current or the previous board is the adding of another layer to the existing body. That has been the bane of contention in recent times with a few groups calling for the dissolution of the board.
In 2014, the WICB rolled out its franchise system, which sought to “professionalize the game and revolutionize how players are engaged.” This system added 90 professional players which play first class cricket in the 50-overs and 4-Day format in addition to a partner for the Twenty20 – the Caribbean Premier League. Those leagues have shown tremendous potential from all involved. The opportunities for the next generation of players is to be discovered from this ongoing series of programmes.

Oops!! a sure sign of the pressure is beginning to burst the pipe. What disjointed mumbo jumbo is this?
Who is the amateur who conceptualized this release and why was this garbage approved by the WICB for release?
I can only laugh at this:
The Board so far has lived up to its promises, and while that is being done, lets trust the process.
"The board has lived up to its promises and while that is being done..."
Make up you mind WICB... you either have done or you will do it.

.
While you're at it look up your
signed CPL Agreement you will see provision is made for the CPL to set up academies in each territorial region.
...The one recommendation that has not been favoured by the current or the previous board is the adding of another layer to the existing body. That has been the bane of contention in recent times with a few groups calling for the dissolution of the board.
And that's why you appointed Mr. Wilkins to find a solution to "the committee" (extra layer) why was the
Wilkins report not implemented?

And how are these franchises going...have you found sponsorship or owners for the teams? Can you continue without sponsorship? Isn't this very initiative in trouble?
The WICB realises the role it has to play in the constant changing environment in the business of cricket and just recently at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March set a team, led by Independent Director, Don Wehby to reassess all the reports and to make recommendations to make the organisation more efficient.
This is only an admission that you (WICB) have failed and if we are to follow your modus operandi this Don Wehby document too will be placed on the shelf to gather dust. The WICB, as has been proven in the past, will have nothing to do with anything which challenges the status quo.
Ththe rest of the release is just padding which does not worth a comment and I am reminded of the saying "
too little too late".
Your collective necks at the WICB are not worth saving at this late stage.
SORRY.

Were you for the dissolution of the WICB while Julian Hunte was President and Ernest Hilaire was CEO?

Were you for the dissolution of the WICB while Julian Hunte was President and Ernest Hilaire was CEO?
Was any dissolution suggested or demanded and by whom?
Please quote any document you may have in your possession on the calls for dissolution. I'd love to have a look at them.
Btw, both Sir Julian and his CEO were adamant that the
Wilkins Report needed to be implemented by the board ASAP.

Plan B then comes into operation.
Caricom will not allow itself to be outmaneuvered by a bunch of WICB pleasure seekers.
The die is cast on this matter.

So are you stating that the fact that Sir Julian & the CEO were for the Report was a factor in him not being Reelected ??

I will tell you that the CEO raised the roof when the WICB took a decision on September 14, 2012 not to implement the Wilkins Report and the non implementation of the report was the main reason for the CEO quitting the position.
There are other reasons why Sir Julian was not reelected.
BTW, Commie and myself are cool.

FYI , the ICC CURRENTLY is a Toothless
Tiger , it also has no credibility or
power . Because 7 of its Members allowed 3 of its Members to hijack
most of the ICC Profits , while being
promised some Crumbs .
I find it interesting that when The
Guyana Government took the Guyana Cricket Board to Court , the WICBC &
the International Cricket Cabal were
no where in sight .
In the current case in the India Supreme Court Justices have been verbally slapping the BCCI et al ,
once again the big Bad ICC was no where in sight .
Since the ICC is purported to be Big ; Bad & Powerful , I expected it to appear before the Justices in India .
But it did not show up . Why ???
The only stipulation regarding the ICC is that Governments are not empowered to Run Cricket forever .
They can set up Interim Committees until there are fresh Elections for
Officers in the Cricket Entities .

Politicians always have back up plans.
The state of West Indies cricket was an agenda item at the last Caricom Heads of Government meeting. Take your queue from this.
The leaders would have discussed the what if...or ask the Secretariat to come up with some scenarios.

ICC more likely to "trust" the WICB than Caricom
POINT

Well ,obviously time will tell whether
the Real Pirates of the Caribbean will be allowed to keep their 89 years old Structure intact .
One thing I am certain of is that if
this matter ends up in Court , the High & Mighty International Cricket Cabal , aka the ICC , aint going anywhere near that Court .
As I have stated elsewhere in this Forum , the BCCI & the States Cricket
Associations , are currently being verbally slapped around by the India
Supreme Court . The International
Cricket Cabal , aka the ICC was & is
a No Show at those proceedings .

You missed one.
The $160,000 US paid to players. Only A+ designated players qualify for this amount.
Can anybody name one player with A+ designation?

Thanks Star. How did I miss this?
I will add this: USD 160,000 looks good only on paper for the WICB...but not in any West Indian cricketer's pocket.

Maybe the WICB wants the [players to strive to be A+ and earn more money. Did they no earn more from winning the T20 championship?
