West Indies coach Phil Simmons is open to the idea of playing day-night Tests, but hopes the team's proposed debut clash is played under the best possible conditions.
It was recently reported that West Indies Cricket Board has agreed in principle (although the board has yet to officially state its position) with the Pakistan Cricket Board to play a day-night Test in the UAE this September. Caribbean cricketers have very limited exposure to day night longform cricket and the pink ball. Ten games in such conditions were trialed during the 2012 West Indies domestic seasons respectively.
"It's going to hard for us because we have not played enough day night cricket down here to test the ball and to know what happens in the night", Simmons told Cricbuzz during Barbados leg of the just concluded Tri-Nation series. "But we were told ICC wants everybody to try and play day-night cricket, so you don't really have a choice."
