What's the point of a 2-day tour match?

Anything less than 3 days is a total waste of time...

natty_forever Jul 4, 2016, 12:46:48 PM

In reply to FanAttick... because they figure the 3rd day

is a total waste of time

big grin

Or another way to look at it ... when we lasted 5 days at test we had 4 day practice matches ...

Well you know as well as I do,it will only take a few hours for 2 Indian spinners to clean up that side. Two days is nuff time.

lol lol lol

In reply to imusic

No CPL players.
Thats wat I'm seeing.

dayne Jul 4, 2016, 3:40:46 PM

It is a waste of time to schedule a two day match, if one team wins the toss and then bats for a day and a half, it will highlight how pointless the idea is.

deanjones Jul 4, 2016, 3:47:39 PM

Why is this waste Chandrika still making any team?

imusic Jul 4, 2016, 4:21:03 PM

Fair point

What about Powell?

voiceofreason Jul 4, 2016, 5:25:40 PM

In reply to Drapsey

Powell has done nothing to merit a call up. Why there is no Alzhari is a better question. He is in the Patriots team so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

dayne Jul 4, 2016, 5:28:02 PM

In reply to deanjones
Well he could not make any CPL team, so he is free to play just like a few others.

goliath Jul 4, 2016, 11:36:28 PM

In reply to deanjones

Why is Blackwood still making any kind of team?

Larr Pullo Jul 4, 2016, 11:39:51 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

As a still serviceable opener, they should have given Powell a run in this game. I guess they really intend to make him grovel to get his spot back, if at all.

robbo Jul 4, 2016, 11:51:41 PM

What on earth is Mindley doing in that squad ?.... He's a medium pacer that doesn't do anything with the ball...not struck on Dawes either....runs galore for the Indians I think !

goliath Jul 5, 2016, 1:49:58 AM

In reply to robbo

It appears that they do not want to disturb the CPL players...but what about Richards from TnT? Some posters appear to think he is promising

natty_forever Jul 5, 2016, 9:27:21 AM

In reply to imusic... the merit of being promising.

big grin

First-class 16 29 1929 841 31 5/35 5/63 27.12 2.61 62.2 1 1 0

31 wickets at an average of 27.12 not that bad?

This is mind boggling. Unless they are a shoe-in for selection, which would also be mind boggling.

robbo Jul 6, 2016, 6:30:49 AM

In reply to natty_forever

Those figures are ok but whenever I have seen him bowl he has looked innocuous and very unthreatening ....he doesn't look like a promising player to me....as I said earlier I'm not struck on Dawes either.....I understand that selection may be limited by the CPL but surely there are other young bowlers with a bit more promise than these two .....aren't there ?
