With a number of South African internationals set to complete their Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) stints, the tournament organisers have confirmed a list of three replacement players for the remainder of the tournament.Barbados Tridents duo AB de Villiers and Wayne Parnell, as well as Dale Steyn of the Jamaica Tallawahs, have been recalled by Cricket South Africa to fulfill a contractual obligation to attend the annual Cricket South Africa/South African Cricketers Association Awards ceremony which takes place in Johannesburg.

Both de Villiers and Parnell made a winning contribution to the Tridents in their last game on Sunday night when they helped the home side defeat the St. Lucia Zouks by 25 runs. The duo will be replaced by Pakistan’s Ahmed Shehzad and Proteas fast bowler Marchant de Lange, respectively. Shehzad is expected to link up with the Tridents squad ahead of their next game against Jamaica Tallawahs in Sabina Park on Wednesday and de Lange will be available from the St. Lucia leg.

It has more to do with poorly worded contracts stemming from the WICB's ineptness, like what is the definition of "fitness"?

It also has to do with the value of the contract, think the CPL money for these guys for the remainder of the season is anything compared to the retainer contracts they honouring?

The Tridents South Africans played 60% of the total games their team will play in prelims, Steyn played 70%.

It really doesn't seem as great a decpetion as y'all make it sound.

Doesn't the same thing happen in the IPL, Big Bash and every other league these marquee franschise cricket players play in.

I think all fans are aware, these guys are contracted to their local boards, and are only allowed to play with their boards approval

Listen man/woman. Before you go about labeling people read my post again. In case you still don't understand, i'm saying that CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS are just that...an obligation to fulfill the terms of the contract when you sign your name on the dotted line. It has nothing to do with the value of any other T20 contracts the players may have.
In any case , you seemed to agree with me on the ineptitude of the WICB. But if the players STILL signed the poorly worded contract as you put it, then they are legally bound to the terms of same contract.

Which player signed a WICB contract and didn't want to fulfil their obligations though?

As i recall, the WICB lost at arbitration with Sarwan over fitness, due to a poorly written contract, I think we all know he unfit, but was it defined in the contract, seems not.

Most other players just refuse to sign the contracts, so excuse my confusion, I genuinely am unsure which WI player failed to fulfil a contractual obligation
