It’s typical of the mismanagement that has afflicted West Indies cricket over a period of many years that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) would have chosen to sack its coach on the eve of the team’s departure for duties in the United Arab Emirates against Pakistan.

If the directors who voted in favour gave any thought to the likely negative impact of Mr Phil Simmons’ dismissal on West Indies cricket, and the players who must take the field, that thought was soon discarded.

Grenada’s prime minister, Mr Keith Mitchell, insists that this latest move by the WICB is consistent with past actions “motivated by spite and vendetta, rather than by what is in the best interest of West Indies cricket”.

All reports suggest that in the 18 months since he was appointed — including a six-month period in which he was suspended for speaking out on what he considered to be flawed team selection — Mr Simmons had gained the trust and respect of his players.

How many fresh starts can West Indies cricket have? It seems to be a yearly suggestion. The big mistake WI cricket made was re-electing Dave Cameron as President of the WICB after see his mis-operations in his first term.

It is nonsense when they talk about a fresh start and then include someof the vermin from the past, that will never work because a lil bit of continuity remains........a fresh start in this instance mean a fresh start.....nothing from the past establishment, not even a chair, purge it totally and completely.

There is a reason the executive of JCA did not endorse Cameron and instead opted for his rival, Garner, until the vote was overridden by a vote of the full membership.

Principle is more important than the passport so blind loyalty to a flawed individual was never an option.

This is another instance where the "popular" vote shows up everything wrong with a democracy, see also how the PNP deleagates have burdened the party once again with the "leadership" ( if you can call it that) of Mama P.

The masses tend to get it wrong more often than not, i was so ashamed by that second vote by the JCA.

The ignoratti voted foolishly, with no good argument pro Cameron other than..it was a dark dark day in JCA history, another reason why the entire establishment needs to be demolished

If a Fresh Start , means a New Board
& a New Structure , that would be great . But I fear that aint ever going to be the case .
