HEADLINE: Jimmy Adams for Director of Cricket?

CaribbeanCricket.com 2016-11-16 04:45:41

SOMEONE recently told me that Jimmy Adams, a former West Indies captain, might be returning to West Indies cricket as coach of the West Indies team.
If that’s true and Jimmy is in fact contemplating that move, I would beg him to immediately scrub the idea from his mind. Soon after assuming his duties as coach he would find himself at odds with the Director of Cricket and the leadership of the WICB and, like Ottis Gibson and Phil Simmons, would be fired within a period of two or three years, if that long.
Jimmy can be a great asset to West Indies cricket, not as the coach of the West Indies team, but as the Director of West Indies cricket.

Performance is not only influenced by our history, past experiences and track record but also by our needs, goals and vision of the future.

Director of Sport may not be a bad idea......word on the ground is that an establishment is looking at Ashley Giles for a job, but in the event that they doan land him, they may go after pale face............lets hope someone manages to take his off our hands......should that happen, then Adams for DOC could happen.....just sain.......

I would go for Adams, but with more powers. But based on what I am seeing with the structure of the cricket, he will face the same issues the others face. I hope he hold firm on his principles before signing on any dotted line or else he will not last a year. I personally hate the idea of external persons running our cricket, but west indians still have the white man complex. So maybe he will be able to provide an objective look. But I suspect Pybus wants someone who will not threaten his position either.

This is the best- most direct and straight-forward article I have read about this cancer affecting our cricket.

I have written here about Massa Pybus, so my views on him is well known.

Is it surprising that Antigua and Barbados, two countries that wish to hold on to their British Colonial Legacy are the two pillars that is propping up the WICB and it is also the place where the most ardent player critics resides.

Anything that does not involve the total dismantling of THE WICB is a bad idea.

SO Jimmy Adams won't be successful until the WICB structure and leadership is no more.

This is the essence of his article.

When you debate otherwise, you are unwittingly giving the WICB a free ride.

Our only focus, our singular focus must only be on the removal of the WICB- nothing else.

Jimmy Adams would be foolish to accept if he does not have a solid committment from the WICB. First demand -The Coach to be the sole selector like in Football. The selection panel would be devolved to act as an advisory panel re selection but the Coach to have the Final say. The Coach to get whatever he wants in terms of supporting cast/staff. Clear timelines and goals to be identified by the Coach and continuous assessment implemented. Coach guaranteed clear 6 year contract

I am in agreement with what You have
stated . My take quite frankly is that it would be asinine for anyone in the
Region applying for the Job unless there is :

A COMPLETE STRUCTURAL CHANGE IN

THE WORST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

BOARD IN THE COMMONWEALTH , AKA

THE WICBC .

Let me also venture to say that in my opinion there also needs to be Structural changes in ALL THE REGIONAL BOARDS .

The real Truth of this matter is that
in order for Cricket in the Region to progress :

CHANGE MUST START AT THE TOP

OBVIOUSLY , THE WICBC , AND THEN

FILTER DOWN TO THE BOTTOM , THE

COACHES ; PLAYERS ETC .

My take is that it is asinine to believe that One can start at the bottom and then finally to the Top .

The fact is that for many years now
the People in the WICBC , have bluntly refused to understand that THEY first & foremost are the main Problem regarding the state of Cricket in the Region .

Unfortunately , it has not yet dawned on the Emperors in the WICBC that they are stark naked . Their Lackeys
in the Media , continuously are telling them that they look fine in their clothes , afraid to tell them the truth , which is that they aint wearing clothes .

The various Reports , the Emperors
commanded , keep telling the Emperors
that they are naked , and they need to look in the mirror . But they refuse to do that , They then swiftly
dismiss the Reports that all state
that they need to change their 89 years old Structure .

Instead , they have craftily waged a
campaign stating that there is nothing wrong with their Current Structure . It is the Players who are
mainly responsible for Our poor showing in the longer versions of the
game in the International Cricket Arena .

The last thing we need is another Yardie running, or worse yet, ruining West Indies cricket.

We're already forced to put up with Cameron, Moorehead, and Wavell. Not another one, please.

He better watch himself.....they sacked Greenidge for saying they wasn`t ready for test.

Didn't Cuddy jump ship and land at Bangla as their bowling coach?

Anyway, I don't have any real problem with the named on an individual basis. The combined product is where I take exception.

I called it from way back when the Yardies Cameron and Hall (with Wavell his deputy) took over WICB and WIPA, respectively. When Hall moved on and left Wavell in charge, the singing of the last Sankey began. How so? With Cameron and Wavell being Kensington CC mates, what was there to stop them from conniving on what they might see as the greater good, even if its their good only?

I'll hold my nose and say, I miss Dinas.

Cameron aka didgy digi Dave is the cancer....the others might well have been OK without him.

The Lucky Report tells you all you need to know about Dodgy Digi Dave.

Your comment is very insightful , and
demonstrates that You understand the plight that Cricket in the Region is in Free Fall .

Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region have been MIMIC MEN , who relish immitating those who were Foundation Members of the WICBC , who were in control 89 years ago .

The current Lot are akin to OREO Cookies . Perhaps this is why they
have bluntly refused to change the
Structure they now govern .
