How are your ETH and LTC coins these days Bro?
Remember, the speculative bubble will pop. The geniuses will sell off just before the crash and the idiots will be left hodling the bag.
Here's a tip: watch and compare the charts of the dot com bubble and to the charts of the current crypto bubble. That will tell you roughly when the crypto bubble will burst and when you should get out of dodge.

Don't you mean get out of Doge ?
In reply to djdrastic
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I stand corrected Bro.
I got out of Doge last year. Made some easy money and have no regrets.
In reply to djdrastic
I'm telling you Bro, I looked at the crypto market chart today and I don't see anything else but a cliff dive in the near future. Not a fall. Not a correction. A fcuking 90 degree cliff dive/drop-off.
This amount of pure speculation which is fueling the bubble is at absurd and dangerous levels. A lot of people should be cashing out now but they are being greedy and holding and/or trading.
It's fascinating to watch though.

Yeah I was into Bitcoin a couple.of years ago.Lost a decent amount of coin in the Gox incident which kinda sucked.
Made a buck when I cashed out not too long after.
Yeah I could have been a gazillionare now , but I could have lost it overnight as well or got hacked or whatevs.
Being your own bank sucks let me tell you.Theres a reason we have rules and regulations for financial institutions and why we don't keep our money under mattress like the crypto people want us to do.

I read about the Mt Gox debacle. Sorry to hear you were hit but good to know you bounced back and made some cash afterwards.
Funny thing is I never kept my bitcoin in any of those so-called wallets. I just left it on the binance exchange for months and then sent it over to my Canadian exchange when I decided to cash out. In hindsight I might have dodged a bullet.
The coming crash will be good for cryptocurrencies. It will purge the world of all these scam shitcoins and allow the one or two really useful ones to flourish and actually become useful as the whole thing was originally intended.
Oh and that Buttcoin subreddit is fcuking hilarious.

In reply to rockstarxxx
Do you think that's the case?
I personally think it's too late for investing in Bitcoin and that is why I got out last year when it was at it's highest price. Bitcoin at the moment shows every indicia of being in a bubble. It's fueled by rampant speculation, appears to be manipulated by a small set of individual/groups, and is no longer being used as a currency. So what's holding it up? Where's the value? I've yet to hear an answer that satisfies these two questions.
Apart from Bitcoin however, there are so-called "Alt-coins". Basically bitcoin knock offs which at the moment number in the thousands and are relatively cheap to buy. About 3-4 of these altcoins appear to be legitimate and by all accounts are much better at being a cryptocurrency than bitcoin. They used newer technology which results in much quicker transactions and lower fees than bitcoin. The vast majority of these altcoins however are in my opinion scams to fleece fools from their money.
These altcoins also have the same issues as bitcoin in that the market is fueled by rabid speculation. Take "XRP" or "Ripple". This used to be a penny stock just a month ago. Now it's close to $3 USD. In a month it went from pennies to dollars. On what basis? No one knows. Some say it's because of a rumor that it will be added later this month to Coinbase, which is one of the largest crypto exchanges out there. Some say it's because they are working with banks. Some say it's because they are working with credit card companies. Some say it's because they will partner will a household name like Amazon or Uber. It's all speculation that's fueling the value of the coin. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you want to get in now be prepared to lose it all when the bubble pops and you failed to get out in time.
In reply to SnoopDog
I sold eight bitcoins and kept two, got em at 1500.00 US
sold at 18.5 k

Be very very careful. I would say the risk/reward ratio is = not worth it. Bitcoin exponetial growth, like say last Jan to Last Dec is not possible again. As Snoop said: OTHER crypto-centric options are doing the same thing... like Ripple [ please note, the good news about Ripple is that it is NOT a currency, it is an exchange... as long as the exchanges are taking place, Ripple will expand...]
New stock Rule of thumb: if everyone is talking about it, you are too late.
Where were you last feb, when I pushed you hard on Bitcoin???
Avoid the market for now, the brust/reset that I spoke about last february is closer in view.
Volatile. Be warned.
In reply to sgtdjones
I gats all my dough in the ole coffee tin Bro.
The big banks can go fcuk themselves.
In reply to pelon
From what I've read online, Ripple is a company who are trying to work with banks to transition them over from the 'swift' system to 'blockchain' system for international money transfers. Ripple has created a crypto token called "XRP" which they hope will be used by the banks should they be successful in convincing those banks to adopt blockchain technology.
However, it appears that the XRP token is not necessary at all for the adoption of the banks to the blockchain. They simply don't have to use it. They can create their own token. So it appears that a lot of the speculators can't seem to distinguish between Ripple the company, and XRP the crypto token.
If Ripple the company went public I would think seriously of buying a few shares because I've seen the traction they have gained with some banks and credit card companies in Japan and other countries and it's really only a matter of time before the banking system gets rid of the old swift method for blockchain. But that XRP token is fools gold to me. I can't see the banks using it at all. And if the banks don't use it, then what value does it have?

Ethereum Regains Title as Second Most Valuable Cryptocurrency Behind Bitcoin
Bitcoin values also fell roughly 7.6% to $15,000, while Ethereum prices rose slightly, 2.5% to $1,155.
That pushed Ripples market capitalization down to $98.5 billion, and lifted Ethereums value to $111.9 billion, according to data firm CoinMarketCap. Bitcoin, meanwhile, maintains its top spot with a valuation of $255.1 billion

So I met up with a old friend of mine yesterday for lunch. And guess what he tells me? He's a cryptocoin investor! I shyte you not.
This dude works for one of the top 5 law firms in Toronto, is single, and it seems has loads of cash to burn. So he decided before the holidays to buy a crap load of bitcoin because he thinks it will hit $100K by May of this year and he will quad triple up on his investment. His overriding idea is that even if the crypto bubble pops and he doesn't quad triple up his investment by May, bitcoin is the standard and will survive such a cataclysmic event just like ebay and Amazon survived the dot com crash and now flourish. I kept telling him that this is not the path to the millionaire's club or retirement. Get in, make some money and get the fcuk out. And he kept telling me that I probably wished I had bought Amazon stocks back in 1998 and held it till now.
It just goes to show that when it comes to greed even smart people can get easily sucked in by the dangling carrot of easy money.
In reply to SnoopDog
How this is not in the gospels I don't understand.
In reply to pelon
I think a lot of people don't really seem to understand that this whole thing is now driven by speculative mania. A year ago it was a decent investment (as you so rightly then pointed out).
Now it's become a dangerous speculative bubble. I still believe that blockchain technology and open distributed ledgers will disrupt and change the world of finance and commerce once adoption starts to happen. But all these new ICOs and "Alt-coins" are driven purely by hype, speculation, and greed and 99% of them will be worth no more than 10 cents after the bubble pops.
I'll re-invest in cryptocoins after the crash.

In reply to sgtdjones
Yuh better report your capital gains from bitcoin profits on your tax returns.
As I understand it, 50% of your gains is taxable. So if you made $100 from selling bitcoin $50 gets added as a capital gain to your income for tax purposes.
Bonne chance!
In reply to sgtdjones
If you're a PR, you reside here more than 6 months, or earn taxable income in Canada you have to file Bro.

When I saw that Kodak story on the news I had to laugh. Everyone and their dead uncle will now be bringing out their own crypto coin to raise easy capital because suckers want the coin price to go from .0000000000019 to .019 in one week and make digital millions.
If this insanity keeps going then I fear what will happen when the crash occurs. The suicide hotlines will have plenty of work in the months and years ahead.

Btw your Canuck markets haven't been hit by Viceroy Research yet ?
In reply to djdrastic
Not from what I'm seeing.
I not a big player in the stock market. I have a few bank stocks which I've been holding for about 10 years and a little in some dividend paying ones.
My foray into bitcoin was as a result of sheer luck and that's why I got out as soon as I doubled up. I'm waiting for the market to crash to get back into into it. It's way too volatile for my liking. I suspect it will crash when it hits the $6-8 trillion market cap. Right now it's at about $600 billion so it's still got a little bit of a ways to go. I recall the dot com bubble popped at around $3 trillion market cap. As with the dot com bubble where all the various IPO's couldn't turn a profit after a few months it will be same where all these altcoin ICOs don't deliver on their various promises and representations. People start to panic and pull out while they still have profits. Prices plunge faster than Steve Bannon chugging down a bottle of Jack Daniels. And within days the party is over and I get back into it.
In reply to sgtdjones

"The action we're seeing may seem dramatic but is really quite normal for this market," Mati Greenspan, senior market analyst at eToro, told CNBC via email. "All in all, this drop has brought us back to the prices that were traded about a month ago for most coins."
Greenspan said Tuesday that South Korean and Japanese investors often pay a premium of "20 percent or more per coin."

NVIDIA Tells Retailers To Sell To Gamers, Not Cryptominers As GPU Shortage Causes Extreme Price Gouging
This should be a time when every hard-core PC gamer should be gloating and grinning from ear-to-ear. PC gaming was never dead; it's actually picking up steam in a big way and so is the DIY PC build market. However, there is one thing that's throwing as a wrench in many a PC builder's gears currently and that's pricing. There's no way around it and it's downright painful right now. Cryptocurrency mining isn't the only reason for the currently high cost of a new gaming PC, but it's the one dynamic acting as a true roadblock to people building a new gaming PC themselves. It's also serious motivation to consider a pre-built system, even if you can build one yourself.
In reply to djdrastic
I have a few friends who are (or used to be) hard core gamers but strangely I haven't yet heard any complaints.
I see the Canadian gov'ts at all levels are very open to cryptocurrencies and even mining.
As for Bitcoin, it didn't crash but it's looking bearish at the moment. Lots of uncertainty in Asia and of course the CME futures are manipulating the price to a certain extent.
I have a feeling that Ethereum will eventually be the dominant cryptocurrency as it has real world usage and the ethereum blockchain is currently being used to run apps, smart contracts, and many other decentralized platforms.

Bitcoin world CAPITAL - Japan's SECRET billion dollar plan for cryptocurrency price BOOM
However, unlike their neighbours China and South Korea who are clamping down on the use of online money, the risks have not deterred Japan from their mission to be the first country to widely use cryptocurrencies as legal tender.
The Japanese economy has suffered from decades of stagnation since the start of the 1990s, dealt with a massive national debt and with the problems of a shrinking population and tax base.
The Tokyo Government is hoping the capitalise on the growth in interest for cryptocurrencies as their opportunity to improve the Japanese economy.
