...leeway to cripple the system of cricket in the Caribbean...continuity was gone then in regional cricket forever.

Well done India for your incredible vision for taking steps to negate the negative consequences of T20 for all and sundry.

You were forced..they were kicking and screaming with (on) KLAS.

And we pretended also to have West Indies cricket at heart...the heart of the flamingo.

Yes...And we fell for the smoke N mirrors and castigated and applied pressure on our bored to free up the natives.

I praise the Indian Bored for its foresight in dealing with this matter.

Also India benefited immensely from luring some hungry West Indian cricketers to IPL to marsh up West Indies cricket and also siding with them to protect its interest during the Indian tour debacle.

Well done India...very strategic indeed.

West Indian guerrillas never saw this coming.

It is aimed at the conspirators who dealt the coup de grace...flamingo, the good campus doctor et al.

All of those who lacked vision and could not see pass their noses.

.........................

The WICB were advocating then...play IPL within the window...but if West Indies cricket needs you during IPL, then your priority should be West Indies. The hogs wanted the whole hog.

India doesn't need a restraint of trade clause.BCCI
compensates them properly. Only regimes that fail to compensate and cut players income by approx 50% need
such legal protection and a Union.

They dont need a gutless WIPA to be in bed with CWI.
I wonder if it's the above dem two referring to about
restraint?

West Indies are the most lowly paid cricketers in the cricketing universe.

Say it aint so folks?

"...WICB has never restricted you from "plying your trade". You have not been playing for the West Indies in recent months, initially on fitness grounds and then because you rendered yourself ineligible for selection, by making public comments denigrating WICB and the Coach of the West Indies first team, comments which you have, thus far, refused to retract. During that time you have played in a number of Twenty20 tournaments. You have been given an NOC for each and every tournament for which you have needed one, in accordance with the applicable procedures as to form and timing. You have not been prejudiced in any respects by WICB's approach to NOCs. Rather, you have chosen to play for overseas franchises, rather than represent your country in the regional tournaments organised by WICB, whilst spurning the chance to make yourself eligible once again for selection for the West Indies..."

When one's own players reject playing for their Board.
Personal reasons.

They prefer to play in various leagues around the World
and ignore their local CWI tournaments.

CPL should lure the Indian players to test the restraint of trade issue..

sgtdjones 2018-01-20 09:51:07

In reply to Khaga

CPL cannot afford such.

When a regime gives a private entity the T20 rights for allegedly 50 years and needs to seek that private entity
permission to hold any T20 tourneys in its region; I call it duncy management.

When one's best players seek personal reasons to disdain playing for that Board. It tells a sordid tale .

I would be ashamed to be asking about restraint of trade clauses.

"...It is WICB’s position that, if a player wishes to play official cricket and to be considered for selection to play for the West Indies, and whether or not he signs a retainer contract, he must expect NOCs to be issued subject to international commitments, in accordance with the rules of the ICC which govern the overseas tournaments in which he wishes to play. WICB does not have the resources to match the amounts of money that players can earn from playing in the IPL and certain other overseas domestic tournaments. WICB's approach is to permit players to play in the IPL and other overseas domestic tournaments wherever possible, subject only to international commitments..."

That seems to me a reasonable compromise...but as I said..."The hogs wanted the whole hog" and nothing less.

And so ended the reign of Solomon a gunday.

Let's start from the beginning.

I'll first site the Jamaican adage, Two bulls can't reign in he same pen.

With Don Hilaire being the baddest of all bulls, he decided that Don Gayle didn't fit into his Star Team ideology being promoted and forced the Star-player in hiatus. The timing, however, was such that the enterprising owner of the IPL Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise was able to seize the opportunity to contract the unemployed Star to represent his organization. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ok, I know that the above are well known facts, but just wanted to ensure that we don't have a convenience of amnesia.

If there were no IPL and other PLs these factors would be lining up to play for West Indies.

Wasn't Jason Roy playing BBL...didn't he have to cut short his contract to play for England?

Weren't the Pakistanis who featured in CPL required to cut short their contracts and return to a training camp ahead of a series?

De IPL money is no longer a problem since dey now have a window. Going forward its going to be the little league T20's dat may be the problem since de number of WI players appear to be dwindling in de Big T20 Leagues. Ah was wondering aloud de other day if the apparent decrease had anything to do with the declining number of international appearances.

Carlos seemed to have bridged the gap well making himself available for both the Big Bash and the Regional Super 50 this year and last year.

On the other hand a certain Universe Leader has read the tea leaves and has made himself available for international duty just as his stock seemed to be falling

November 2016. Is not his fault de coach say he was better off warming de bench in last year's IPL instead of playing him against Pakistan last April.

The point was dat he was available to play the Regional Super 50 at de expense of his stint in de BBL last year and ia also available dis year
