The Constitution divides the Government into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. ...

The President in the executive branch can veto a law, but the legislative branch (Congress) can override that veto. Of course, with one party controlling both houses, and the President in charge of appointing judges, the system is being tested.

The Judicial branch may check both the legislative and executive by declaring laws unconstitutional.

Yes, I got all that but the Constitution is written in such a way that gives the Executive, legislative and Judiciary branches a slight overlap in other areas.

Example: Trump can have indirect influence in the Judiciary by appointing DOJ personnel and Supreme Court Justices that reflect his policies.

Or, the Congress can write laws that reflect the President's policies.

President Donald Trump pressed senior aides last June to devise and carry out a campaign to discredit senior FBI officials after learning that those specific officials were likely to be witnesses against him.
