Markets Tanking
In reply to Runs
Maybe because of the prospects of a new ObamaCare-like initiative.
Amazon, Berkshire, JPMorgan to set up a health company for staff
By bringing together three of the worlds leading organizations into this new and innovative construct, the group hopes to draw on its combined capabilities and resources to take a fresh approach to these critical matters, according to the statement.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm!
In reply to Runs
Bro, markets has had a phenomenal run...traders ae taking som profits, and with DT, you just never know what he will say to swing the market.
Prudent move.
This market got legs though...low interest rates. Corporate tax breaks. Steady employment. Strong dollar.
In reply to Runs
I don't mind this new definition of tanking!!
1% down after a parabolic rise? I'll take it!
In reply to Drapsey
I guess big business is realizing that a Obama like healthcare system is a good business solution. The mainly Republican supporters ( Big Business) is finally seeing the light.
In reply to dayne
Do you see the irony in your statement?
Obama like health care is good for bg business??? So what doe sthat tell you? Who is paying into that?

Dude, you still on this thing???
In reply to runout
Just keeping it real Homie.
Y'all don't like reality eh?
In reply to SnoopDog
Nah man...I am all for keeping it real...but the debt is just taht. we wont have creditors coming to knock on the door for $20 Trn just like that. In fact they love the fact that we keep their monies. One of the safest places on earth to have it.
Additionally, before Madoff, the US had this scheme going, and it has worked really well. What they say, it it ain't broke, don't fix it!
In reply to runout
You know what's so great about the debt clock?
It strips away the veneer of prosperity and lays bare the reality of a debt laden society which is wholly owned, operated, and governed by corporate interests.
The bigger issue however is what the money was borrowed for? In the case of Murica, this money was borrowed to wage war - which is like borrowing money to set it on fire with a bunch of your kids on the pyre. It was borrowed to lower taxes on the rich, which is like a poor person borrowing money to give it to a rich person.
It was borrowed for bad reasons and wasted, but it will either have to be paid back, or the US dollar will have to be seriously devalued, and neither of these outcomes is good.
Bon Chance!
In reply to SnoopDog
Are you doubting that the US is a prosperous country? If so I have a bridge to sell you.
Whatever the borrowing, the country has loads of resources, and although it is a casue for concern amongst debt watchers, the US economy is purring along. No sweat.
Do you know how many were saying for how long that the US greenback will be devalued? What happened?
I guess, we all are becoming like clocks...say it long enough, you will be right eventually.

Problem SOLVED! - *dust hands - buries head back into sand*
And we thought the Trump Tax Cuts would've prevented a situation like this for the Harley-Davidsons of America.
Harley-Davidson stock tanks amid plan to shut down plant
The Milwaukee company reported a 7.9 percent drop to 241,498 motorcycle shipments in 2017 and expects the figure to continue dropping. It forecast 231,000 to 236,000 motorcycle shipments in 2018.
The stock was down nearly 8 percent in early trading.
In reply to SnoopDog
Why worry bro? It is not good for your health!
The deficit will be there long after we are gone...and so I will not carry the burden unncessarily, when in fact it can all be wiped away.
In reply to Drapsey
A tax cut for corporations will not fix operational inefficiencies. HD will have to take a good hard look at its operations and improve on efficiency and cost savings.
Also, the aging baby boomers are not into motorcycles as much.
In reply to Drapsey
Harley-Davidson stock tanks amid plan to shut down plant
Harley-Davidson will close its Kansas City, Mo., plant as part of a cost-cutting move as it continues to face dwindling shipments.
The Milwaukee company reported a 7.9 percent drop to 241,498 motorcycle shipments in 2017 and expects the figure to continue dropping. It forecast 231,000 to 236,000 motorcycle shipments in 2018.
The stock was down nearly 8 percent in early trading.
You think a tax cut can help ALL companies which are tanking....???
some keywords..
dwindling shipments
82 percent slide in fourth-quarter profit
Sounds to me like people are not buying Harleys as they once were.... giving money back to the company won't make people WANT Harley.... the prices of the bike cannot be dropped by much..... that's just how the cookie crumbles, sadly, for Harley-D.
In reply to runout
It's amazing how some people worry so much. Like if others worry as much as them, things will get fixed.
And if some don't worry... then they don't care even after realizing that certain things won't change even if they worry.
WHY WORRY? hahahah.....
In reply to SnoopDog
An Wall street say everything fine....
Meanwhile .....mainstreet business closing....Malls are losing their cornerstone stores.....
But fug it man...we gats resources.
In reply to johndom90
Is this a new phenomena? Business will close, business will open. Does that make it a bad economy?
Malls are losing out because of online shopping. This is a paradigm change. A game changer. Why do you think Amazon is running away wit the football!!! Touchdown.
You all must keep it real bro.
In reply to runout
Middle america has suffered massive mall shutdownd..unemployment...and u call this normal bro....
In reply to johndom90
Are you aware that unemployment has been reduced?
and the malls are losing business because generation x are not like their parents...they buy, eat, and sleep online.
Things are changing...this is not the horse carriage business operations, but the lightening speed of internet transactions. Money, merchandise, people...every thing moves with the stroke of a keyboard.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
And if some don't worry... then they don't care even after realizing that certain things won't change even if they worry.
WHY WORRY? hahahah.....
Shot!
Some people love to worry, and so i will not deprive them of their joy.
In reply to runout
Lawd....i hope the electricity never goes where you are with this lightning speed. direcet and spinoff jobs are impacted higely ...bigly....since Obama days....the economies of these rural economies r taking a hit. Where is the income to do all this online shopping.
From credit cards?
In reply to johndom90
Bro...I can tell you that the income for te online shopping is coming at the expense of the mall/shops. look at Sears? K-mart? they are all struggling. The companies that were quick to embrace online shopping are thriving. Amazon is eating up the competition...and they are way ahead of the game.
You need to expand on these "rural" communities that are taking a hit. I am not sure I follow you. The crash was in 2008...and as of now we are past recovery. The stock market is booming, not that I am stating the obvious, but as a reference to the true scope of the recovery. Real Estate has rebounded. More people are working. And household debt has gone down. So I am not sure where I should start to be worried about the economy. In fact, those who are waiting on a market correction has missed out on a tremendous rally.
In reply to johndom90
Murica, where the average median income per citizen is $31,590 and average debt per citizen is $63,040.
Murica, where income tax revenue from main street is $1,624,003,540,890 and income tax revenue from wall street is $314,667,020,985.
But every thing is rosy and loosy and goosy something trickle trickle bad trade deals something trickle trickle job-creators something something Clinton and Obama sdministrations something something deep state...

China says "we don't want to buy your debt anymore"
The report also notes that Chinese officials think U.S. debt is becoming less attractive compared to other assets, adding that trade tensions between the two countries could provide a reason to slow down or halt the purchases.
In reply to SnoopDog
The national average wage index for 2016 is 48,642.15. The index is 1.13 percent higher than the index for 2015.
So my fren, here are the facts from the Social Security Administration. In 2016 the average was 48,642.15...in 2017, I will posit that is is much higher. I understand your need to disparage US living standards, however let's be fair.
In reply to runout
Recevery post 2008 is soley dut to massive rounds of quantitative easing....printing money out of thin air. I never bougjt in to there being a recovery after 2008. If so..why does national debt keep going up to the level it is. Why these budget deficit crisis. The cycle is getting shortrr now..next three weeks its back again.
If you swear by Mainstream economic indices for the economy's performance, u r being deceived bigly.
In reply to runout
Quick, cut more taxes and increase the debt. You know what class of people are really struggling right now?
Poor millionaires. Make sure most of the cuts go to them. Remember, if billionaires taxes are low enough they will give you all great jobs...right?
In reply to SnoopDog
Snoopy, you do realize that China depends on the US debt to stabilize its currency, right? And that all helps in keeping the yuan relatively cheaper, just the way China likes it.
In reply to SnoopDog
Man, I am getting pinged, but guess what? Do we have an alternative?
Look at the other European countries tax rates, what do you say?
The US is still the best bargain I see.

In reply to runout
Have no fear. Russia will buy your debt. They bought your President after all.
In reply to SnoopDog
Eg..unemployment statistic. Good example.
That figure is so twisted and shaped..it can reflect whatever you want it to.
If a person works one hour a day...helps the family business...home taking care of family. ...at home but say they have a job
Most likely they will be counted as employed and cause unemployment numbers to drop...twisting of the sample.
Lies...damn lies and statistics.....sure u heard that before
In reply to SnoopDog
It's not always about 'how much you mek'.... sometimes it's about 'how much you spend.'
In reply to johndom90
Will the Orange Clown take credit for this just as he take credit for the days when it's good?
In reply to johndom90
Agreed, stats can be manipulated.
However, they say, a man with an argument is no match for a man with experience. I live in the US, and I can tell you that the recovery, at least based on stats, is complete.
You may have pockets of depressed areas, but for the most part, the economy is doing fine.

Dude...the lending standards were tightened...and I agree with you that the tax break for the rich is BS, however the economy is in good shape.

Obamzee doubled the debt by the end of his presidency.
In 8 whole years... he added $10 Trillion more to the measly $10 Trillion in total of what ALL 43 previous presidents before him in 233 years racked up.
Nothing new. So in that regard... If Trump add about $10 Trill in 4 years... that's par for the course.
Don't worry, be happy.
Money to be made from an individual stand point... like runout said.
You can complain constantly about dis wan and dah wan... or fatten your pockets while you can....
Just remember... we're not on this Earth forever. Live and let live.
For the world of me, I cannot understand why folks living in, and depending on the West, are so negative on America. These people conveniently forget that when America goes, so too goes all of their chips.
Kinda wishing bad on oneself, literally.
In the mean time, I will sit back and watch market fundmentals drive a whole lotta folks batty.

Look Trump is not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean that i will ignore the gains, that his policies are effecting, to my benefit. I can dismiss him as silly etc., but I will be silly if I ignore the other part where the economy is righting itself.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Obambi had to bail out those poor Wall Street crooks and save all your pension plans after Bush left the Murican economy on par with a dumpster fire.
And at least Obambi spent the money on you ungrateful 9-5 wretches instead of on poor billionaires.

Obama had little to do with the debt doubling over the 8 years he was in. Congress, The House and Senate masterminded most of the debt, many even before Obama took office. Obama signed the bills but they were projected in and controlled by the Big 3. And oh, BTW, Trump's tax cuts will also help DOUBLE the national debt by 2024. So, all this jumping up and down by Trump is just theatrics but do your homework and due diligence before braying on here.

Okay Kids, today's lesson is Right Wing Economics 101:
Government gives Paul $10 dollars in the left pocket.
Government takes $20 dollars from Paul's right pocket and gives and additional $10 to his rich neighbour named Peter.
Paul is pleased as punch about the $10 bucks in the left pocket. Take that Liburls!
In reply to DukeStreet
You guys are quick to claim this and that happened on "his watch" but when it's for Obamzeee.... ya'll don't want to hear. Run along...
In reply to DukeStreet
Isn't it strange to you that Obama was never responsible for any of the deficit in all of his 8 years in office, and Trump, in his one year in ofice, is responsible for doubling it? How so? Please explain.
Your opinions are astute, but others, because they differ, are braying. What gives bro? Where is the love?

Remember the days when right wingers would froth at the mouth when talking about "the deficit"? Well now the deficit is in like flint!
Let's have more deficit! Crippling National Debt is good now too. Yummy as a paid off porn star's ass. And don't forget that government doesn't work and they will make sure of that by putting shit for brains paid off corporate shills in the most critical positions like...I don't know....Secretary of Education?
So don't worry about the debt.
They have savage cuts to government programs to make up for them. They're just trying to get the pill down first before they pull out the big knife. It would make people a little too concerned about the pill if they knew the knife was coming.
Muricans are just going to have to accept that hunger games future, it's the price of billionaires' freedom.
In reply to SnoopDog
Case in point
In reply to runout
You are accusing me of the same thing your good buddy, Mr RemainsUnknown is doing....claiming "Obamzee" did it. But, but, but, why blame Trumpster? Right? See the hypocrisy?
Next up cuts to social security and medicare to fill the gap from the tax cuts
In reply to DukeStreet
Really?
Darn bro...you crucial.
No hard feelings.
In reply to runout
Murica is a parody of itself Bro.
In reply to SnoopDog
Ahhh, Trump can do no wrong. He claims Obama did this and that but yet he is doing the same thing. Either these repugs can't or won't see it or they just ignorant.
In reply to DukeStreet
Forget aout Repugs and Dems...just look at the upside. You can make money in this economy. We worry too much about distractions and don't focus enough on the prize.
In reply to Runs
The really dangerous part about this is what happens in 2 years if the Liburls don't retake one branch of congress. They'll announce that your current spending levels are "unsustainable" and become deficit-hawks again, ignoring the fact that they ballooned the deficit with this billionaire's tax bill.
And as you noted they'll then use this as an excuse to gut the safety net. Food stamps? Gone. Medicare, Medicaid, social security? Gone. Funding is removed entirely, destroying these programs. Head start? We can't afford it. Gone.
Those fools will destroy whatever is left of Murica. And I'll watch it all from the sidelines.
In reply to SnoopDog

Bro, are you doing your best Chicken-little impersonation to humor us today? If so I am impressed.
In reply to Runs
Already happening. Some of my employees' parents are feeling it. Even with Medicare and Medicade, their hospital stay is short. Comparing it now to say, 10-15 years ago when elder folks got longer hospital stays or rehab center stints. This is no longer happening and/or they are getting booted out or sent to different hospitals that may pick up the tab. Sad.
In reply to runout
What are you doing wasting time reading our posts about this imaginary deficit crisis? Go out and make your money Bro.

You are just a flame thrower.
In reply to runout
It must really sting you to know, and for me to continually remind you, that your country of adoption is going to the shitter faster than the Russian piss trickling down on Trump's head.
But that's okay because you have $10 bucks in the left pocket after all.
In reply to SnoopDog
What you say is important to you, otherwise you wont be saying it. However I am just reminding you that your version of truth is unique to you. I am not pissed that you think America is sinking, that the economy is collapsing, that the deficit is doubling. I am happy that I know different, and that I am pretty comfortable in what I do. You have been singing this song for the longest while. Just concerned that you havent developed a better argument to bolster your position. How long can you be so wrong????
In reply to runout
The numbers Bro. The numbers don't lie. And the numbers don't care what you think or how you feel. Sad!

There is NO middle-ground. Hence the name-calling.

I didn't care for either of the latter two, however. Can't also vote in the Primaries as I'm not affiliated with any parties.

The police who pulled me over for speeding the other day and sent me off without a ticket... he must've been a schupit white man... ah mean... I didn't fight up and was honest with him that I was indeed speeding... yet (with my looks) he let me go scot-free..... unheard of these days...... you only hear of stories where the cop is in the wrong.....

Stocks rocked in their worst day since October 2008
Seth Archer
Feb. 2, 2018, 02:30 PM
The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 666 points in its biggest point decline since October 2008, when the Troubled Asset Relief Program didn't pass, according to Bespoke Investment Group. Its 2.56% decline was the biggest percentage slide since Brexit.
The big drop came after some of the largest companies in the world reported disappointing earnings for the holiday quarter. Of the mega-cap tech stocks that reported this week, only Amazon had a solid quarter, as Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft all had blemishes in their reports.
In reply to Chrissy

volatility is back with a bang.

Commercial real estate seems to be overpriced and tax cuts are leading to inflation. Plus the new guy Powell is kind of a rookie at this. They will raise interest rates to cool things down.

All the best trying to catch that falling knife Bro.

How LONG have people been writing the eulogy of the GREAT USA, again? History is a good teacher and if you don't know anything about history... you live in the present and easily panic when shit rolls down the hill.
What people fail to realize is that whatever bad is happening today, 10 times WORSE has happened in the past.....
The GREAT USA will continue to get better and better and those who deny it... are only fooling themselves and those around them, sadly. They are just pessimistic. A blip here and there is just that.
If you as an individual is failing in life... that's your fault. Don't blame* ANYONE else.
If you had older folks' advise from Guyana, then the above resonates well with you.

Bro. First you plan, then you work the plan. I am not naive to believe that the market will continuously go up and up without a pull back. I am/was expecting this. The idea is to capitalize when the markets pull back.
I still dont understand the orgasm-laced posts on the Dow falling

I know you are not serious about the above comment, because it simply does not hold true. More than ever, people around the world as well as Americans have this foreboding sense that things are wrong in America.
There is growing hatred and disrespect for the US from all corners of the world and in America social polarization is threatening to tear the country apart along with a host of other serious issues.
America is on the decline on ever social indicator. Economic indicators are also starting to drop.
It is the beginning of the end of the empire.

You have to understand the immigrant mindset Bro. A lot of those that left Guyana, and the rest of the Caribbean, to go to the U.S. and A have this desperate need to assimilate and to be considered "Murican". A lot of them also immigrated to the US in the 80's when Murica was still consider "the greatest country in the world".
They have unsurprisingly conflated being Murican with Republican values and dogma - ie. blaming everything and anything in illegal immigration (after all they came here legally unlike those other scum), small government, lower taxes for rich people, no regulations for Wall street crooks etc.
It's a shock to their system when others who don't live in Murica mock and ridicule their country of adoption. They simply cannot fathom that Murica, the country of their adoption, is no longer "the greatest country in the wurl".

The majority of immigrants are registered Democrats.
The majority of Caribbean immigrants that I know do not blame illegals etc.
They do not see this country as the greatest. They come here for opportunities and a future for their kids. Not dissimilar to other immigrant groups.
Now you are saying....

Come on, dog-man. Go easy on the TrumpSteak failure.
The only known issue for potential customers was that they didn't want to be caught putting half a bottle of ketchup on their steak like the proprietor does. Other than that the steak was good enough to put OmahaSteaks out of business.

I've been telling those folks to get out of America while they still can. They are not considered 'Murican' by Americans because they emigrated from some s-hole country.

Listen Bro, Trump Steak has very sound fundamentals and hence why it's a solid investment for you, runout, and Remainsunknown. Ask yourself where else on planet earth can you get a toner cartridge, an air purifier, a bacon express toaster and a steak all at the same store? This venture will never fail nor go bust.

If anyone who trades do not plan for pitfalls like these... then they are in the WRONG business. When you're doing very well, you cash in. Adverse conditions like this should not break the bank if you're doing it the plausible way.
