Jimbo Cornwall List A averages:

voiceofreason 2018-02-05 08:35:10

Bat 44.25 after 27 matches with 3 centuries and 3 50's. Then his bowl average 26.25/ econ 3.25/ s/r 48.3.

What more must he do that he has not done already?

Come on Man!

FC I agree. LIST A you would be hard pressed to find anyone with better allround figures.

Cornwall has definitely earned some consideration from the selectors.

let him continue to work on his weight loss and fitness...he can put off another 50 this year and that will erase any doubts

he has made his case.

Larr Pullo 2018-02-05 09:24:32

In reply to voiceofreason

His hands are still on his knees when the batsman is playing a stroke when he's in the slips, and they only put him in slips because he really can't field anywhere else. You know in top level ODI's his fitness will be exposed, you sure you want to take that risk?

If you have to pick either he or Nurse who would you go with?

Pacy 2018-02-05 09:35:15

In reply to Larr Pullo

I do not think WI are losing matches due to their fielding deficiencies at the moment

Larr Pullo 2018-02-05 09:35:50

In reply to camos

I really think Cornwall is very talented and he seems to be a hell of a bowler, but right now I'd pick Chase. smile

Oh so you looking to add one more reason to the plethora of reasons that we're losing matches... lol lol lol

camos 2018-02-05 09:41:24

In reply to Larr Pullo

Chase stays ,he takes the spot that Nurse has.

Oilah 2018-02-05 09:43:37

If a 'fit looking' player was doing what Cornwall has been doing the past couple of years he would definitely be in the WI senior team mix. It is still OK to be prejudiced against overweight people in sports.

the game does not have weight restrictions, this is a non quantitative standard to protect your own!

voiceofreason 2018-02-05 10:23:41

In reply to Larr Pullo

I understand your concern and it is noteworthy. I too share the same concern but he is committed to losing weight and to lose 28 lbs is no easy feat. How long can we continue to ignore his performances though when our International team languishes at the bottom of the table and are in danger of not making the World cup for the first time in its History? I say play him now.

The same way there are no AGE restrictions as well.... but it's implied.

Now you guys know how the Shiv fan-base feels.... sad

lol lol lol I believe his contribution with bat and Ball will offset his fielding issues if at all he has any

... Who Gayle???

Dukes 2018-02-05 12:39:57

In reply to voiceofreason

Which ODI should he have been selected to play in and was not selected?

Dukes 2018-02-05 12:45:12

I think that Cornwall and Paul should be in the mix when it comes to ODI team selection. Paul has shown an astonishing level of maturity for someone still shy of his 20th birthday. He would bring to the team a winning attitude. Rutherford is not that far behind and it really is surprising that Guyana is producing so many fast bowlers these days.

I do not think there are better all-round List A figures of players presently playing for WI. Nothing, but unfounded bias keeps locking the door for this class young man.
