Indian Top order individually and collectively were way better than any other team in the tournament. I would agree with Rahul Dravid's assessment that some of them can step into International Cricket right away.

Among the West Indians, from the 2 matches that were televised, Alick Athnaze was the most fluent (For some inexplicable reason was batting at 6). Kalicharan was fluent too but did not score a lot.

Simmons, the opener was not fluent but was steady and solid at the top. He can develop with time. Melius the other opener scored quick runs with big hits but his defense was questionable. Yadram had reputation but did not live up to it with the bat but did produce with the ball. Stewart was the worst of the batting line up.

Our bowling though, was wayyyy weak. I did not see anyone who looked like getting into a FC team anytime soon.

In reply to Pacy... so would you say these were the best lads selected?

I am not sure about the ones who were not selected Natty... But among the ones who I could see in the WC that was my assessment.

Based on the record I expected Pembearton to be a key bowler but he did not play the first 2 matches and I could not see him live. He did not light up the tourney either when he was selected. Unless I see them live in action not sure if I could rate anyone sad

WI has two prospects in Athanaze and Simmonds.. Much was expected of Kallicharran and Yadram but they basically flopped.

India was by some margin the best team in the competition.

In reply to Bigzinc WI bwoys will mature...it was an international beginning.

Yadram will in time be a good all rounder and so will Kallicharan he is 17.
