Permaul dealt another “hard card” by CWI selectors

shivnotout 2018-02-06 04:13:20

It seems a spinner who has taken a total of 198 wickets across four consecutive seasons of Professional Cricket League (PCL) is not good enough to make these ‘powerful’ Windies senior nor ‘A’ team squads but one with 145 scalps to his name is good enough to do both.

hard card

shivnotout 2018-02-06 04:23:30

Permaul has top the charts twice, once in first season (2014-15) with 67 wickets and then in the just concluded season (2017-1cool with 50.

Nonsense indeed

Why?

Norm 2018-02-06 07:26:03

The argument that favors Permaul over Warrican, based on current performances, is certainly a very good one. Looks a Bajan needs to perform less than others to make the team. Then again, maybe Bajans get automatic handicap points ...

Permaul is still suffering the effects of that now infamous Chris Gayle mauling.

No amount of season topping wickets is going to erase that from the selectors' memory.

Sad.

So then we need to stop playing cricket in the Caribbean if the tournaments are not used to select players. Just pick as you like.

The shocking surprise is that of Barbadian left-arm spinner Warrican ahead of fellow left-armer Veerasammy Permaul.

Judgement 2018-02-06 11:03:38

Lol its simple:

Warrican = CWI Retainer = Board already invested in Warrican

Warrican is not a Barbadian, he is a Vincentian

Permaul > Warrican irrespective of where Warrican is from

granite 2018-02-06 15:36:01

Don't matter where he from,he shouldn't be on the team in front of Permaul or Miller. He plays for BIM,if people mistakenly thinks he is Bajan that don't make them fools.

The whole selection process is reticulated. Favoring Barbados and Jamaican players over merit.

High time get rid of Browne.

would Permaul be among the 90 players with lesser contracts?

Ray123 2018-02-06 17:47:49

Warrican hasn't played a Test in over 2 years so he's not the reason Permaul can't make the team. But I do agree that Permaul is my preferred choice because he seems to have a lil more variety.

But. I can also argue that Permaul has the opportunity to play more regional cricket each season than Warrican so he will always have more wickets. Even when I compare their stats.. Warrican is better 44 matches 173 wkts @ 20.61 while Permaul has 93 matches 394 wkts @ 21.78.

So advantage Warrican. Not much between them.

What's favoring Jcan players? You forgot that Yard only got one token player on many teams, including Under 19. Not that the batsmen have been impressive to selectors.

You must be living in a dreamland. Which Jamaican players are those?

And on another note - Do you remember when Miller was topping the FC charts and only got one test?

You people really have short memories.

Thank You for the stats.

The real issue has always been what is the selectors' stance on Permaul, Ramdin, Miller, Devon Smith whether as a group or as individuals since as experienced players they continue to perform very well each season.

As usual is has to be about bashing players who don't pick themselves and especially those who have any association with BIM since apparently Courtney Browne alone has destroyed our cricket.

Do people even care to know who the other selectors are and their input in the selections. They might be surprised to find out who "jukking" their favourite players.
