Stop what you are doing this afternoon: Falcon Heavy

pelon 2018-02-06 12:59:19

Peps, perhaps the single most significant SPACE event of the century (21st)...

The test launch of Falcon Heavy rocket.

Key notes:

1. Private sector, private capital
2. Largest REUSABLE rockets ever built
3. The Launch rockets return to land vertical on platforms at sea and land... an engineering marvel .
4. Tolduso IS ONBOARD to sit in the Tesla (space junk).
5. Ultimate destination after these test: Mars

So much of this mission is revolutionary and if you have an ounce of geek in you, watch. I have cleared my schedule for this, should be exciting even if it ends up as a fireworks display, as Elon Musk stated.

LIVE FEED [pending]

So I'll get to watch 2 things get blown to smithereens all in one week: (1) the U.S. Stock Casino and (2) a space rocket.

Coooooollllll. lol

Hope you watched and are watching... the re-entry of the boosters is equally marvelous the sight of the two booster rockets landing verticle is a marvel of physics & engineering.

WOW

pelon 2018-02-06 15:56:29

The unbelievable landings of the two falcons without issue was spectacular. 100 years from now - this day in space transportation will be talked about...

Not to diminish NASA accomplishments, but private enterprise have now surpassed Govt bureaucrats what would take them decades to reach.

Rubbish -none of this could happen without NASA's investments, inputs and infrastructure.

Kay 2018-02-06 19:47:53

This is all amazing stuff but yet they cyan find an aircraft that disappeared with 227 people 4 years ago and counting.... most likely lying at the bottom of the sea.

Is space technology simpler than subaquatic? smile

Very impressive...have followed the progress, but too much smoke and fire man..

Kinda like an advanced steam train with autopilot etc...still a steam train Lol.

But I guess we're stuck with smoke and fire rockets for a while..they could look at a glide loop to save on fuel..could use military targeting software with extendable and retractable winglets, most modern missiles glide into their targets .

Great work Mr Musk..

Saw the video. Launch was an A. The re-entry and vertical landing of the two boosters was an A plus plus. Some years ago Musk tried a similar re-entry on the deck of a ship. It did not go well. They are not there yet but they are getting better by leaps and bounds.

Any word on the main booster?

Impressive. Where we going with this? Colonize space?

Looking forward to advancement in rocket technology where the power base is more nuclear.
