Samuels denies Crawley a century...

yardman83 2018-02-08 12:55:02

Did anyone see this? I never watched the match yesterday. Bowling wides and letting a ball go for four to stop Crawley from getting to his century? He was left not out on 99. Link Text

Seems as if it is the in thing now. The article mentions the incident with Pollard and Lewis.

It was Sheno Berridge bowling and why would you give a player an opportunity to score a hundred?

In any case the batsman took a single and his partner hit a four to finish the game

Logic 2018-02-08 14:32:37

You for real. Is this what our cricket has come too, orchestrating to accelerate loss of a match so as to deny an individual a century? Appealing for obstruction /handle ball when batsman trying to help out fielding team. Unadulterated pelting?

SAD!

You don't give a player the opportunity; he works for it. But to lose quickly so he does not achieve a century is beyond poor sportsmanship.

They were saying it was instigated by Samuels. The report also said that that ball was left to go for four to deny the batsman the hundred. It could have been fielded. I am not sure I like this trend at all. I hope there is no complaints when the shoes is on the other foot.

Agreed.

Maispwi 2018-02-08 14:53:31

What is wrong with bowling wide of the off stump to try and get a batsman on 98 to play a false shot?

There were 4 runs to make in 5 overs. Shud de bowler bowl half volleys or long hops?

ray 2018-02-08 15:06:47

bad sportsmanship
Seems West Indians are doing this quite frequently

Ian Botham once bowled a loopy ball to
Greg Chapel on 94* and 1 run to win
so he could hit a six and win.
Unfortunately Chapel hit the ball for 4 and won, ending on 98*

It's call integrity.
It's supposed to be a gentleman's game.

Wondies loosing the plot.

Why not try to out him with a proper delivery.

I find it hard to care about this incident one way or another. As usual Robert key picks on Samuels. He wasn't even the captain of the Leewards!

Whinging Poms. ...still can't get over the beating that England and their beloved Stokes got in the world t20s final.

Typical that this story gets more coverage on cricinfo than the actual cricket in the tournament.

integrity is about honesty, best effort not arrangements, that is what distinguish live sport from other entertainment. Why not watch WWE instead of cricket.

That's one of the reasons Waste Indies
will not get better. Poor sportsmanship
by a veteran and trouble maker.

What in the video footage provided shows Samuels being involved? Berridge was the one bowling.

Key alleged Samuels was involved before wisely deleting his tweet.

"99 not out for Zak crawley and then nice bloke marlon samuels got his bowlers to bowl wides so he couldn't get 100," Key wrote in a tweet that was subsequently deleted.

TanteMerle 2018-02-09 16:48:28

To be fair,

I did not see the end of the game.

It was boring me and watched tv instead.

My point stands abut Wondies performances

Everything poor.

Out best batsmen, bat too slow for ODI.
Out so called stars fighting with Bored,

People calling the so-called PD's names.
I do not foresee any improvement soon.

This 50 overs tournament show how poor
the Wondies cricket is.

No team made 300 even though bowling poor.
No batsmen, scoring above 100 strike rate consistently.
(I don't rate Jimbo (Jumbo) as a batsmanbig grin)

Too many bad balls not getting put away.
Batsman not showing urgency
By urgency I mean
** placing good balls in gaps softly for 1
** Running first one quick
** Moving around crease to put off bowlers
** rotating strike

This bowling is too poor for the type of bating scores.

I'm actually getting bored watching the games.

Now we looking at unsportsman conduct
and peeps here excusing it.

WTF.
twisted evil
