Antigua Government Rolls Out The Red Carpet For SIR VIV

According to the Antigua Newsroom, The Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda has agreed to provide national hero Sir Vivian Richards with a package of benefits.

He will receive a monthly pension equal to the amount now paid to Ministers of State within the Antigua and Barbuda Government.

Sir Viv will also receive an exemption of duties and other charges on the importation of personal items.

In addition, he will be exempt from paying property taxes on the home he owns and where he resides and will be allowed one duty-free car every 7 years.


The promise to treat living National Heroes with a high degree of respect is fulfilled. Sir Vivian Richards will also remain an Ambassador for Antigua and Barbuda” said Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst

Well lets see if he changes. lol

I wasn't aware the perks for governments were so exclusive, I wonder how their people feel about custom duties and tax exemption for government ministers.

Well-deserved Sir Viv, considering that all these youngsters making so much money and most of them are not even 25% of the master-blaster.

Just last week I was speaking with One of his coaches who watched over him during his formative years but now lives up north, he said Viv had one flaw which could only be exploited just as he entered the crease, of course most bowlers failed to recognize or exploit that flaw. Once he gets going it's all over for he loves to bat long, long innings. His former coach said when he was in school, he would bat for entire evenings as they had difficulties getting him out.

My only hope for the young WI batsmen that they will value their wickets like that of Sir Vivian.
