Let me say this before he gets in and out.
I don't see what he can offer to Guyana.
If he ants to motivate,be a consultant
Be a coach, hang around the team
Stop taking a Yute's place.
His batting nowadays cannot inspire.
Shiv is not the Shiv of old.
Just a selfish prick poker.

Why is Shiv Still Playing
In reply to TanteMerle
To give guys like you something to
bitch about
In reply to TanteMerle
Shiv is a man who you just have to shut the door in his face, he ain't gonna open it himself and walk though it softly, softly.
In reply to Ridge
In reply to TanteMerle
that's none of your biz
that door slammed on your back when gibson pushed it
now gweh perly
In reply to TanteMerle
You also NEVER saw what he could offer the WI team...more than a decade ago....because of some slight you experienced...even tho he was ranked in the ICC top 5 in tests and ODIs at the time
In reply to TanteMerle
Be a coach, hang around the team
That's a big job that requires a salary, would you pay him?
In reply to Kay
I like SHiv...but it's time to hang it up
In reply to TanteMerle
Who is this 'yute' whose place he is taking? I did not see any complaints when Barnwell was brought back and he has not done anything for years.
Shiv is there for a purpose and it is one of the contributing factors to why Guyana has won the 4 day tournament for the past 3 years. You need to be at their net sessions or around the team to understand the intangibles. Then you would understand what he brings to this young team.
In reply to bobby
The dumb skunts don't see Guyana has the youngest team in the tournament...and winning..
Yet de dumskunts want to pick on the ONE man with the most experience who is sharing this experience out in the middle in real time...batting and fielding
In reply to Narper
panty merle is jess another loud mouth bajan
In reply to doosra
Empty vessel he is
In reply to Narper... that can be useful on some occasions ... Merle on none!
I think what we're seeing is age catch up with the man.
Guyana can't expect him to stick around to help others while at the wicket.
Shiv's technique is one of a kind but he would be a good addition to the Windies setup as batting consultant.
In reply to TanteMerle He wants to reinforce to a fraction of windians & fans that he still had it to surpass BCL's aggregate! It was probably a decision that was, racially/culturally tinged!? I'm on the fence - Mih done & who vex, vex.
In reply to doosra
panty deserves better
Now that all the zeitgeist had their turn to answer.
I will respond to those who deserve it.
In reply to Bobby
I was referring to the 50 overs games only.
However, you are correct,
I am not at their net sessions or
around the team to understand the intangibles.
It is possible that he is motivating the yutes.
Great response, but does he need to be in the 11.
Ricky Pointing dropped himself while cappo
in the IPL, but remained around to motivate.
In reply to Narper
For the record,
I'm referring to the post about the
young team winning.
I'm not sure that Shiv is contributing
to the team winning.
However, see my response to Bobby above.
In reply to Raggs
I'm not sure if anyone have the right,
to slam the door shut in Shiv's face.
A man with his achievements deserves respect.
I believe that this was tried
when he was asked to retire first from ODI,
then later asked to retire from tests.
One each occasion, he took offence.
Now the approach may not have been the best.
Maybe Shiv is really selfish.
Maybe he felt betrayed.
Maybe he is a skunt.
I honestly don't know which,
if any of the above is applicable.
I hope that Shiv would call it quits
during a season,
have a benefit/farewell game,
the CWI could honor him someway,
The Guyana Cricket BORED could honour him.
At least he deserves to part ways gracefully.
To All
Contrary to the vitriol expressed here;
I opened this tread to stimulate positive comments.
I would not dignify those stupid comments with answers.
Although I believe that there is some merit
to Shiv being with the team,
I am suspicious about his motives.
After all, I don't see him lighting up the scores.
Maybe Shiv don't know when or how to quit
In reply to TanteMerle
Maybe Shiv don't know when or how to quit
Maybe people don't know when to quit stressing on the man.I mean there are so many failures/wannabes in the various teams, the subject of Shiv should not even come up. The man batting, beating bowlers and winning and we here arguing if he done.
In reply to TanteMerle
Why?
Shiv obviously wants to continue playing at the highest possible levels, and he is still good enough to earn a place - on ANY regional team in the Caribbean, if not in the West Indies team itself.
beating bowlers?
There must be a new definition of beating
Quit me ass...jus because some alyuh tired see his face?
The man is fit and seems injury free...why should he quit...when the coach repeatedly says he is invaluable member of the playing XI
What did Lancashire see?
Shivnarine Chanderpaul Signs New Lancashire Deal At 43
The Guyanese left-hander, struck 819 runs at an average of over 50 in last year's County Championship, including three centuries as Lancashire finished second in Division One, the club's highest position since the 2011 title triumph.
In reply to Narper
Now that's a positive post.
Yes and well deserved Shiv.
He deserves to go out on his own steam.
Lancashire deal will help pay bill for more years.
I'm just saying that I hope that he knows when to quit.
As long as he is injury free and contributing
I was concerned with the amount of time
he spent of the field in the 4dayers.
Quit while u still have gas in the tank.
I wish him all the best.
And maybe he is inspiring the Guyana 4day team.
If so, good for him to give back.
In reply to Norm
Fair enough.
Chanders is playing for the same reason Tom Brady is playing,
they can both do it, and there is none better.
More importantly, the teams they represent, WIN!
In reply to TanteMerle
Tune in...you will see his face...once again
In reply to Narper
you know waz ironic these days
the best thing outa bim nowadays idolizes Shiv tho he is barely 5% of what Shiv is
Cause he was selected to play in the team!
In reply to Narper
You sure this was for me?
I do not remember saying this.
In reply to TanteMerle

YOUR VERY FIRST POST ON THIS ...YOUR THREAD
IT IS STILL THERE
Shiv will soon be back playing for Lancashire and I hope his departure, and absence from the Caribbean, will cheer up those who seem unhappy now.
In reply to netgrouchy
They will still find a way to bad talk the man
In reply to Narper
Yeah, just saw it.
Apologies..
Not for the statement, but for not
remembering typing it.
I am getting old.
Yeah, I always considered him selfish
since a few years ago.
When he batted with tail and gave them most of the strike.
In reply to Windies2017
I'm watching him live now.
He look in great touch....
NNNOOOOOTTTTT!!
Honestly, I hate to see him struggle like this.
I watched the 69 ball century against Ozz.
I watch the 74 (I think) in no time
versus Oz,
On that occasion he gat a ripper from Warne
that hit n the rough
and came in from about 1 yard outside off.
That ball also kept low.
I watch the 150 against RSA
He was bowled by a no-ball by Pollard.
You really think that as West Indian
I enjoy watching Shiv struggle.
28 balls for 3* so far; and looking bad.
Anyhow enough about Shiv.
In reply to TanteMerle
You brought up Shiv and now its 'anyhow enough about Shiv!'
Do you think as a West Indian Shiv likes to know that you are uncomfortable watching 'Shiv struggle'? Shiv likes doing what he does despite all the negative comments. He is the most disciplined individual. He will read this thread after the match and will respond in due course! Watch this space!
In reply to TanteMerle
Not for the statement, but for not
remembering typing it.
I am getting old.
mih glad shiv torture yuh wid dat innings
In reply to Narper
And wunnuh does cuss paint. A 43 year old vs a 25 yr old
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Me cuss Paint???....I have defended paint endlessly on this board
Paint is not in form this year....but after last year's performance I called for Paint to be in the WI team for ODIs
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
QED. a 25 yr old playing like a 43 yr old .... and a 43 yr old playing like a 25 yr old. Who deserves cussing!!!
