Shane Dowrich..
In reply to Ray123
Larr Puta gone country!!!
In reply to che
He is 90 not out at close
He send a ton of people to country.
Good recovery by WI... hope Dowrich gets his ton tomorrow... in recent times he has looked dire to be frank ... lets hope that this has been a bad patch ( really bad ) that he has now come through.
In reply to Ray123
Good knock indeed. I was pleasantly surprised when I tuned back in and he was in the 50s. It took him 23 balls to trouble the scorers.
In reply to robbo
Dowrich can bat...it is his keeping that needs a revolution
Wait, wait, no love for Warrican? Just last week people on this MB were saying: he should not be in the A team. What gives?
A 100+ partnership and counting...
Dowrich batting in the one days is what Barbados is missing this year....I am talking iro last year when he was in form. Him , Hope and Kraigg were the top three bats that propelled Barbados to 300 scores
Dowridge has proven on quite a few occasions that he is a decent batsman. The major criticism of him, is his abysmal performance while keeping.
In reply to mikelegend
Wait, this is a big change from last test series.
All de peeps were talking about how he can't bat.
Bring in Ramdum.
Bring In Hamilton.
Bring in Ambris.
Now, it's his keeping, he can bat!!
Hawk Spit!!!!!!
This MB is nuttin but consistent.
I never said Dowrich couldn't bat though...I knew he was woefully out of form.
In reply to Oilah
Give up the gloves ?
In reply to robbo
I think he is good enough to fight for a position as a batsman only but it would be hard. I can't see him continuing as the keeper without significant improvement.
In reply to Oilah
Can he improve as a keeper, I remember one year we won the first and only Wes Hall cup(centuries ago) and Wes told us the Derrick Murray set the record for the most catches in the 63 tour to England, but he also set the record for the most drop catches.
I hope his keeping improve, he is a beauty to watch when in form.
In reply to openning
Lets get real here and put things in perspective. Our number one Test keeper comes good against an A team squad, and we are all supposed to be doing cartwheels and sucking each others dciks. Really, our standards have really sunk this low. Its like Devon Smith scoring tons in local cricket and folks doing back flips. DWL
In reply to tc1
I hope so too I am a big Dowrich fan and when he is batting well only Hope is as pleasing to the eyes
Dowrich was well supported by Warrican, it might be Warrican's highest F/C score.
That inning sofar reminds me of the Tino Best and Darren Sammy show in England.
See below
In reply to NYCGURU
Yuh got to go easy on dem baje...de most insular set of people by far on this message board.
The fact they they vigorously celebrate dowrichs centuries against Zimbabwe and an England A team, shows exactly what kind of standard dowrich is at.
And on top of that, they not just celebrating, but boasting bout it too.
As dem does say....wuhloss
In reply to imusic
I understand your pain, coming from T&T and then living in Toronto.
This Calgarian when thru it, in the 70's & 80's, when the Eskimoes and Oilers, made us look like second class, sports city.
We finally won a Stanley Cup, and a number of Grey Cups.
BTW, when you enter the city of Edmonton, the sign says,"City of Champions", The Island of Barbados, can say the same, when it come to regional cricket.
In reply to imusic
as usual, Musicman and the bajans, it like throwing coils in the fountain. A bajan must have made you cry rivers.
In reply to NYCGURU
This youngster was in the dog house, a few weeks ago, had he failed today, this mb would have had, numerous threads.
He has silent a number of people, making people like you, come after his supporters.
We are all supporters of cricketers and teams we like, so Shane Dowrich batting today, should be recognized
I was one who touted Dowich as potentially the
best batman on the team. Fact is his performance with both the bat and glove has been patchy.
No one could have have complained of he were dropped and someone else given a deserved chance,
Its not that Dowrich just made runs, his effort made a difference and saved WI A with three test batsmen failing from shame and embarrassment. A Jamaica B team actually looked far better.
That is what a test batsman should be doing. Nothing to brag about but something to make ALL West Indians proud.
In reply to Ray123 Well done and they have made the match even.
In reply to imusic
You can just Fack Of.
Who mo insular than the likes of
You, Narper, Wally, Point, Devin etc.
You peeps support your country men
to death even when wrong, dem is shite.
Everyone here was on Dowrich band wagon
I guess you forgot his debut.
Was that against minnows?
Was that with a strong lineup?
Everyone has their right to support home.
Stop grouping all Bajans,
cause no one fights their own like bajans.
I first saw Dowrich in Carribean T20
He was openning for Barbados.
I said back then that he is a test prospect.
He has a pure technique,
the best that I have seen for a while,
only Shai look in a similar vein,
Hety is the next to impress me since.
I don't give a fack about anyone's opinion.
I support Shai, Dowrich, Hety, and Cockaroach.
Not too many people in Wondies worthy of my support.
As a team, I used to support Hindia.
I'm now a documented Ozzy supporter.
Wondies not worthy of my support.
I don't care who disagrees.
MAD DEM DOWRICH.
PACK OF SKUNTS.
In reply to jacksprat You & Runs have made the same observation...but, I just like the chap! Lil Shaney will save WI Ass!
In reply to TanteMerle... it was his keeping that brought attention to him, then add to that the fackery batting, what you really expect. Stop being so darn insular. And not because someone else on the MB is insular means you are not. you want to talk degrees start another thread. If Ramdin was going through such a patch I would be calling for him to get drop. Oh shyt guess that don't count I am not Trini.
What's the reason for all the euphoria,Dowrich is a test player and a top batsman in the Caribbean, making runs at this level shouldn't surprise anybody;Dowrich has been a phenominal failure so I understand the glee among supporters, lets not forget he must carry on in tests making runs, and taking catches, something he hasn't been doing in tests.
I am one of his supporters, not as a W/K but as a batsman.
In reply to granite
Dowrich, the Test Wicketkeeper, was inserted into this A team squad to (no pun intended) keep out other talented and performing Keepers from showcasing their talent.
Hamilton and Bramble come to mind. The selectors talk about rewarding performance, then they do the opposite.
Why else would a supposed proven Test Keeper, keep wicket in an A team game !!
Brown threw him a Lifeline
In reply to Elsie
This series also provides some of the incumbent Test players the opportunity to restate a claim for a position in the Test match squad for the what will be two important home series (vs Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in June and July).
In reply to TanteMerle
No one gives a fcuk about your opinion SKUNT.
You are just an empty vessel.
In reply to Walco
That man is talking out of both sides of his mouth
What about rewarding the top performers in the local First Class series
? Isnt that one of his stated Goals also ?
If so, play Dowrich as a Batsman and reward a performing keeper with the specialist job .
Playing Dow as a keeper is suspicious
It seems like homeboy preference ..
U guys mad because Dow made runs, period
In reply to TanteMerle Boi Tanty, u swinging hard! I gwine stay out of way...by the book - two arms' length away!!

rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes
Pull up the archives and see if youll EVER see me questioning Diwridges capability with the bat.
In reply to tc1 Z million dollar question, is, WHY?
In reply to tc1.. we not like you bro. trust me!
didn't the Jamaica number 3 keeper made a ton on this same attack?
In reply to TanteMerle
Who mo insular than the likes of
You, Narper, Wally, Point, Devin etc.
You can doubly fcuk off
You post a lot of shit here
Your postings here are never based on facts....but your puerile personal likes and dislikes with no cricketing basis
You are just a big stinking bully....who believes much empty loud noise will intimidate people...but it ent go work on this message board...try it some where else
In reply to TanteMerle
Wagner!!! In other words take a look at the last test series vs NZ, one innings on a slow wicket doesnt mean crap. He has to be more consistent. Lets see what happens as the series progresses?
In reply to TanteMerle
Why you have to refer to Ramdin as (Ramdum)? Dont tell me its a typo! It is very clear of how prejudice some of you all are on this mb.
In reply to camos Tell the skunts that, and me doh want no fcuking Ramdin in the team,as someone say,Brong throw Dowrich ah lifeline.
In reply to natty_forever
Like me, just look at unna postings, and come back nothing in this read could be view as insular by a fair person, the poster was affirming Dow ability to bat.
In reply to azadtnt
I guess you are new to this mb
I like Dowrich but he scared of good fast bowling ..
In reply to stone
Maybe you need o go Youtube his debut knock.
Dowrich has the same issue each Wondian has: -
1. A poor team, with no seniors to mentor.
2. No wicketkeeper can stay keepin for 2 days straight consistently,.
And be expected to make runs consistently.
I am wicket-keeping / opening batsman.
I know what I am talking about.
3. Wondies team is shite.
4. Very few proven international class players.
In reply to granite
Although I don't agree with this stance,
I believe that CWI against: -
Scammy
Randum
Bravo(s)
Gayle
Pollard
Get the picture.
Just an opinion and don't kill he messenger.
I am anti-CWI like most here.
I am anti-Brung since an issue with Matrix
Many Bajans here know what I am talking about.
Because of a personal issue,
he dropped Matrix from Bim years ago
Causing Matrix to loose his Wondies pace.
Never liked or supported Brung since.
In reply to natty_forever
Guess what,
Randum did go though many bad patches.
However, I believe that he was dropped for
non-performance issues.
I AM NOT A SELECTOR.
Re Dowrich
Did I say something false.
Wasn't most here calling for his head
saying he can't bat a few weeks ago?
Is the trend at the star of this tread
about he can bat not wicket-keep.
Prove me wrong!
In reply to Elsie
Yes Brown threw him a Lifeline
Yes Brown threw Powell a Lifeline
Yes Brown threw Jermaine Blackwood a Lifeline
Yes Brown threw Vishaul Singh a Lifeline
Yes Brown threw Jomel Warrican a Lifeline
In reply to Narper
Sticks and stones etc....
You're nuttin but consistent.
keep up the good works bro.
In reply to TanteMerle
u on a roll TM
In reply to TanteMerle
You could argue that Dowpoor could bat all you want. Just don't argue for him to continue wicket-keeping!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
I have never argues for him to be a keeper.
I have always mentioned his batting as being test standard.
AGAIN MY POINT IS THAT PEEPS HERE
WERE SAYING A FEW WEEKS AG HE CAN'T BAT;
NOW THEIR CHANGING THEIR TUNES.
I AM ON THE POINT OF BATTING.
NO world keepers in recent times
are/were successful on a bad team.
Zimbabwe keeper was an exception.
And even experts said he would have
been a lot better on a better team.
Keeping is a lot of work(concentrating each ball)
It's hard to keep for hours and then bat well.
Randum,
Hamilton
Ambris
Dowrich
Shai (hope they do give him the job)
I also want someone take over the ODI job
No matter who keeps on dis Wondies
He will fail consistently.
Until this team can bowl out teams
Keepers workload will ensure batting failure.
In reply to tc1
Ive been on this mb longer than u apparently. Im just not on it as often as before. Ive seen some have changed their username over time. Anyways, we are here mainly in the interest of WI cricket, however, some choose to take it personal .
In reply to stone
Yes, Dowrich is suspect against short-pitched bowling based upon what happened in NZ. So too are KB and Blackwood.
And KP, Hope and Hetmyer are happy hookers susceptible to the leg side trap.
In reply to TanteMerle
Because of a personal issue,
he dropped Matrix from Bim years ago
Causing Matrix to loose his Wondies pace.
Please enlighten the few Bajans and many non-Bajans who have no clue what you are talking about
In reply to azadtnt
Are you serious??? Why is he prejudiced for referring to Ramdin as Ramdum but not for referring to Sammy as Scammy?
In reply to Walco
one of the reasons Matrix retired....WI getting a percentage of his IPL and others earnings and he felt or knew Brown would never select him.
In reply to Walco
Bring and Matrix were fighting for the same woman.
In reply to camos
It would have to be the same side woman because I think Browne is married. Cant imagine Browne would carry feelings about something like that when it comes to team selection. He does not strike me as a vindictive person.
In reply to analyst-kid
Sounds like a major falling out, but I dont think Browne would be petty like that
In reply to Walco
I would think so too...but apparently Matrix doesn't think so!
As I said in my earlier comments Dowrich NEEDS to be consistent with his batting to even suggest that he is WI standards. I strongly believe he is good at the degraded regional level, however, has a long way to go to be what we expect from him like most of the players.
In reply to Ray123
Seriously, I am glad for Dow. But until I see him stand up to hostile fast bowling again I wont be convinced. He is very talented as a batsman, but I'm concerned about his mental approach since he got hit in the head.
In reply to camos
Why ya don't keep bajan bizness among bajans.
In reply to Walco
Sounds to me like you don't know Brung.
FYI, Brung was not married at the time.
I will not elaborate anymore
1. to protect the innocent.
2. None ah wunna darn bizness.
3. Get outta bajan yard.
Remember I said that he kpt Matrix outta Bim team,
which translated to Matrix not making Wondies team.
Matrix was at that time playing as a bowler
and late innings slugger for Wondies.
Matrix eventually bettered his bating in IPL
Eventually got back in Wondies team.
By then, he batted with Gayle
who facked up his riddim by:-
1. Refusin singles
2. Turning 2's into ones
3. Pressuring Matrix.
Any fool following Matrix in IPL etc
could see that he was a riddim player
smacking 4's and 6's
taking quick singles and
turning 1's into 2'.
But Shamacian won't see dat.
Young Gayle and old Gayle are like
Jeckyll an Hyde to use an allegory.
In reply to TanteMerle
You think camos is a bajan??
In reply to Walco
Fack no.
The story was pon dis MB
when it happened.
He gat a good memory.
In reply to TanteMerle
Yuh wrong deh boy. Man I know Brung yuh know. Even had a drink or two with him in the past ...
Why you trying to throw me outta me own yard? My navel string buried right deh in the Constitution River next to QEH
In reply to Walco
In reply to Oilah
Tantemerle like he is one ah dem transplanted bajans who needs to see a passport before being ale to identify a fellow bajan.
But Tantemerle strikes me as one ah dem fellas that believe dem stories about player X never got dropped because he was bulling Captain Y. Or a maid at hotel C ketch Player A and Player B bulling in a room. Or Player A tekking a stab for Player L

I drank wi Brung in Burmuuda in 2004
Just before the winning ICC Cup.
And pon Barbaos tours here.
Don't remember if he drank alkihol
Cause sum ah de men drank soft drinks onli.
Barbados had about three tours here,
Wondies had one tour here too.
Actually Barbados beat Wondies in a game.
He dragged Lara from a conversation wid
me and a few ah we boys.
Lara was demonstrating his vast
knowledge ah de game
And explained lots of reasons for failures.
At that point Lara told us about
Tino and Castro stress factures.
Lara and Brung were almost joined at de hip.
I respected Brung then.
Saw his leadership wid Bim Team
pon tour here as well.
Brung was good leader at that time.
He let noopsie change he.
Now I have no respect fa Brung.

St. Pharlip is my ancestral home man. Mother from Marley Vale/Bayfield and father from town. I have a good friend from Gemswick. She faadah was a certain DLP politician dat represented St Philip in Parliament.
Not saying your story is true because I don't know and I don't like scandalizing people name online. But Matrix would have to be a forking idiot to horn the captain of the Barbados team while playing on the same team with that captain. Wuh happen? No other women in Barbados dat he could get besides she???
Funny thing that Dowrich is afraid of fast bowling. Maybe the young man is in a bad patch but to say he has a fear of fast bowling is not true. Kid have played against faster bowlers and had no fear. The first time I saw Dowrich was as a 15 year old I think opening for Cawmere with KB playing in a second division final. Fast bowler was deposited time and time again to the boundary when they dropped short. Say the kid is in a slump and maybe his poor keeping is messing with his batting. Dowrich is one of the most aggressive batsmen in the WI and he have looked very tentative lately. Bad patch yes, fear I think not!
Bruh, Warrican, the number 10 or 11 made 70 odd not out and took wickets too.....that is enough to tell you how much of a shythound lions team that was.
Dowrich is afraid of fast bowling. How so??? Pleez expound & apprise me of his fear of fast bowling.
In reply to Andy99
You are not giving Warrican enough credit. I watched him bat during the partnership with Dowrich and he played some high quality shots. Also, I rate the English left arm spinner Leach. Saw him deceive Blackwood with an arm ball and dislodge Blackwood's off stump. And wasn't Roland-Jones taking wickets for England against South Africa last summer?
In reply to Walco
You are not giving Warrican enough credit. I watched him bat during the partnership with Dowrich and he played some high quality shots.
you can do that to "shythound" - supports andy's thesis
anyone can do that to Blackwood. Less be a less radical and say most bowlers - supports andy's thesis
My own qualitative view is that this England Lion attack is decent...Leach has bowling action issue
In reply to Walco
I was referring to a particular post, however, it does not matter whom. it is wrong!
In reply to Walco
Tino made a thrilling 96 or 97, how good a batsman was he?
And ok, I should've said shytehound Lions team away from home.
