Red Force out Super 50
The T&T Red Force team wretched season continued as it was knocked out of the Regional Super50 Tournament, after the Windwards Volcanoes hammered English County team Hampshire by 137 runs in their final Group A clash at the 3Ws Oval in Barbados yesterday.
Going into the final round of the round-robin phase, Red Force was in second place on 22 points from its eight matches. The Volcanoes were on 17 and needed a big win over Hampshire to advance ahead of the T&T franchise.
With Red Force no doubt supporting a Hampshire victory, Volcanoes batted first and scored 293 all out off 48.4 overs thanks in the main to the big hitting Andre Fletcher's 132 runs and Devon Smith, who continued his fine batting in the tournament so far with 84. They then hustled out Hampshire for 157 as Kaveem Hodge with four wickets and Shane Shillingford three proved too much for the opposition.
