In India, there were many alleged instances where the police shot and killed first, then staged an "encounter" with the bandits.
Jail is costly, plus the legal charges.
I am not saying or suggesting anything!
In reply to goofballs
you are correct here ... dem time now
In reply to Runs
They terrorized family members a few years back too
In reply to DirtyDan
How apt. Looks like they took this 'Location, Location, Location' thing too literally.
A 57-year-old bandit? You would think that someone at that age would have given up that lifestyle.
In reply to Priapus
That age thing was a surprise to me too
Hey my Muddie peeps i'm planning a trip to GT next month. Any particular safety precautions i should take?
In reply to Priapus
where you staying?
In reply to DirtyDan
Haven't confirmed yet. It's a work-related trip. Still ironing out the details.
In reply to Priapus
1.Don't go!
2.Get a bodyguard.
3.Get a gun and be prepared to fire first.
4.Stay with a government man like Dukes.
5.Walk with mosquito coil and get netting.
6. Drink boiled or reliable bottled water.
I am repeating advice given to me which made me choose option #1.
In reply to goofballs
#7. Don't tell them where you staying.

Most personality pathology mellow with age (so don't kill her yet. Old age might get better, unless they get dementia then everything is much, much worse).
Antisocials improve their behaviors around age 50.
In any case if man has only one lucrative career, how can he change especially if there is no other work available in society and he did not have 401K plan?
In reply to goofballs
Dayumnnnnnnnn!!!!!. It's that bad over there? Unfortunately # 1 is not an option.
In reply to goofballs
Guyanese need to realise that crime is the major impediment to that country's rapid development. Many know this but the will of the people, and whichever gov't is in place, has to be there to eradicate the violent crimes.
There's always a backlash as killing folks without due process is not the desired way but the murdered and traumatized victims are on the other side of that ledger.
In reply to Priapus
Nah I would like to think not totally as crazy as Goofie suggests but exercise due caution for sure. Trinidad travel like.
If the bandits don't get you the mosquitoes will
In reply to DirtyDan
The universal solution: Create jobs!
In reply to DirtyDan
I've heard some stories about the big-assed mosquitoes over there. I once read about a story from one of the English players on their tour to WI in the early 1980s. It was the Robin Jackman saga tour i believe. The player told how they were bitten to death by mosquitoes in Mudland.
In reply to goofballs
I get what you are saying but i'd like to think that as one gets up in age and starts to think about going to meet his maker, he would reflect on all the pain and hurt he has caused to others in his younger days and make a concerted effort to change his ways. Sort of like atoning for past indiscretions.
In reply to Priapus
Not making excuse, but man must put food in mouth and have place to sleep.
No jobs, rehabilitation or negligible welfare or pension system do not help.
In developed countries, they slow down, if not shot down, by 50.
Actually, if the mosquitoes don't get you, their buzzing would disturb you all night long.
There used to be serious attempts to get rid of mosquitoes back in the day to help eradicate malaria.
I hear that malaria is coming back.
Mosquitoes so huge that when they fly off you can see their nuts hanging down
In reply to goofballs
Yeah. The English player said that because they were up all night swatting away mosquitoes they had no energy during the day to face the WI battery of fast bowlers.
In reply to DirtyDan
Yuh killing me bredren.
