Pakistan were unbeaten in UAE for seven years since the gulf region became their adopted home in 2010. Best of teams had come and struggled in the scorching heat of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. With meticulous planning, the Sri Lankan side became the first team to win in UAE beating Pakistan 2-0 in a two-match series. It was Dinesh Chandimal's first tour as captain and he has only gone from strength to strength since.

 Although the Sri Lankans lost a three-match series in India 1-0, they did show remarkable fight against the world's number one ranked team. More experienced Sri Lankan sides had gone to India and suffered humiliating defeats.Early this year, Sri Lanka took on a resurgent Bangladesh, who had beaten Australia and England in Test matches at home. Chandimal's side did well to win both Tests. And now, the Sri Lankan skipper wants to taste more success in the Caribbean - where Sri Lanka have never won a Test series.

"You know, we have heard great stories about how West Indies dominated world cricket for decades and most Sri Lankans looked up to the great West Indies sides in our formative years. It is a good opportunity for us to go there, compete and win a series. We have not played a Test series there in ten years," Chandimal, who will be playing his first Test series in the Caribbean told Cricbuzz prior to the team's departure on a month long tour.
