ST JOHN’S, ANTIGUA - Digicel has reached an agreement to end to its sponsorship relationship with Cricket West Indies one year early following a successful 13-year partnership.
Dominic Warne, Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communications for Cricket West Indies, commented; “On behalf of everyone at Cricket West Indies, I would like to thank Digicel for their fantastic support over the past 13 years. It has been a great and successful partnership for both Cricket West Indies and Digicel. We are now primed to take on a number of new initiatives as part of our recently announced strategic plan to make cricket the heartbeat of the Caribbean. We hope to make an announcement on our new long-term Principal Partner soon.”
Digicel Group CFO, Raymond Leclercq, comments; “Over the years, we have been very successful in forging sponsorship partnerships with the things we know our customers love most. This approach has helped us to grow the Digicel brand to be the number one brand in the region and to make a lasting impression on our customers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cricket West Indies for 13 years of amazing partnership and for the opportunity and privilege of helping to bring the fun, thrill and excitement of the game of cricket to a wider audience and in new and engaging ways. We wish Cricket West Indies all the best for the future and will be cheering the teams on from the stands as passionate fans of the game of cricket in the Caribbean.”

Digicel is stating that it had signaled its decision to reduce the companys global headcount, by around 25% over an 18 month period, since February of last year.
In a statement released this morning, Digicel reminded persons that a key element of its 2030 global transformation programme was a complete re-design of its organisational structure to provide customers with a more complete experience.

Digicel is trying to sell the CPL also, over the last 12 months, no buyer interested. It shows they have lost over
60 million dollars on the CPL investment.

No that Digital has jumped the sinking ship, I can just imagine the number of potential sponsors who will be lining up to take their place.
Maybe Pointless and Chrissy can recommend a few.

You do realise sponsorship on a kit for WI has more to do with getting views than dealing with the home market.
Plenty Indians and sub continent eyes look at West Indies play.
I just called the name of a company y. It could be Hero motor or any other sub continent company.
I just feel like it may be a sponsor from outside.
And if CWI smart they try to get a sleeve deal to.

Well, when they got married, this is what happened:
Seven leading players, including captain Brian Lara, look likely to miss the Test series against South Africa because of a sponsorship wrangle.

The Real Question is this :
SUCCESSFUL FOR WHO ???????????
TO LATE , TO LATE IS THE FREAKING
CRY.
MANY BELIEVED THAT OPERATION IS
SUCCESSFUL , NEVER THE FACT THAT
MIND THAT THE PATIENT HAS BEEN ON
LIFE SUPPORT FOR MANY YEARS .
I have always stated in this Forum that the alliance between the WICBC &
Digicel was unhealthy for West Indies
Cricket .
SIGNING ANY LONG TERM CONTRACT WITH
ANY SPONSOR MEANS THAT YOU ARE NOT
INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THE
COMPETITIVENESS OF CRICKET IN THE
REGION .
