Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema on Saturday once again hit out at Indians and Coloureds.

Speaking at a Youth Day event at Matlosana Stadium in Klerksdorp in the North West, the firebrand politician said not all South Africans of colour suffered the same during Apartheid.

“We were not all oppressed the same. Indians had all sorts of resources Africans didn’t have, Coloureds as well. The majority of Indians are racist. I’m not saying all, I’m saying majority,” Malema told the gathering.

Indians were allowed to own businesses etc during apartheid.

They had alot of other privileges blacks did not.

The Europeans basically placed them in higher social/economic positions. It was a systematic attempt to use the Indians as a buffer between themselves and the Africans.

His mistake is to use the word "majority ". If he had said "a lot " he would be on much safer ground.

As a jamaican of Asian origin I can say a lot of my Indian friends are racially prejudiced against black people. They confide in me thinking I will agree with their views. But what they don't know is that I have children who are half black and I take offence at the racist things they say to me about black people.

I cannot disagree with your statement. Over the years, many Jamaicans of South Asian origin have sought my counsel, asking why "Indo" Guyanese and some Trinidadians of South Asian origin feel that way.

I have lectured against this all my life.

Now the irony is this: "Hindu" Indians from the sub continent and not an insignificant percentage of "Muslims" (India & Pakistan)m, dish out the same racism towards "Indo" Guyanese and Trinis.

In South Africa, when we finally destroyed apartheid, the mainly Hindu Indians were in a state of confusion, Gujratis in origin, the apartheid system was similar to their caste system, it gave them a sense of organization, however twisted that was.

With the caste system, which is indeed apartheid, the Indians were satisfied to see themselves as inferior to white skin people- a fundamental truism among Hindus, and superior to the native and Black South Africans.

I dont see why anyone would expect less of people who have a caste system.

Prejudice and segregation is part of their core belief.

Most Whites in the US were racist during slavery.

These behaviors are cultivated from education, environment and upbringing.

Am not sure the history of this individual, but to say that the majority of people who use a caste system are prejudiced racially is hardly a stretch!

Prejudice is a major component of segregation and apartheid!

All Cultures have a level of prejudice!

There are various versions of prejudice and most are common in all Cultures!

Race, Class, Education, appearance, financial all innately learned and applied subtly.

When you grow up in any Culture where overt prejudice is the norm and strictly applied in every aspect of the Culture?
It shapes your view of everyone outside that sphere.

You do not need to be a racist or attempting to vilify any specific race or culture to realize this dynamic!

This is a totally no good thread. As they say in my village "no good nah deh hay/yahso."

Ok, the sleaze bag politrickians like Burnham, Trump and this joker hope to gain a distinct popularity/support from their own kind (who have the primitive mind set) by declaring war on, abusing and derogating people with other distinct differences in color, religion/culture (or lack of, thereof).

Hence, Guyana is screwed for life.

When Trump started his campaign, I wrote that I dreaded if my car broke down in the red country somewhere. It has come to pass.
It is a dangerous game, mostly for power at the expense of people.
Problem is people get brainwashed easily especially if you are talking about their own mother(culture, people of origin, etc) One or two here might not have had a mother or is ashamed of his culture and live life of severe anger, resentment and ready to project that onto others rather than looking at self.
The primitive mind set (that we all have deep down there but outgrown by most (not all) after childhood) starts to light up in fires of fury and stay burning like coals in the mind, ready to erupt in massive explosions.
Somebody say anything bad about my mother, father or people by extension and I could quickly forget all that civilization taught us in terms of controlling that primitive reaction.

The little kid says he has, I don't have. You like him, not me, etc. and start throwing punches and bites (burn down houses and shoot down people are adult equivalents).

Some kids get spoilt with more attention by using that tactics rather than a balanced parent saying, ok it happened, or didn't but cut the crap and take care of yourself, have responsibility for your own actions and things will fall in place (eventually), at the same time don't let anybody tek their eyes and eye pass (bully) you.
Some "parents" just feed that fire of Shaitan/Satan.

We all have difference. It depends how powerful a magnifying glass you use.
People tend to associate, want to please, have deference to people in power (even to Caucasians) for material gains or whatever, very evident even in post independence Caribbean, Jamaica, etc. It happens. Look at WICB. Leadership in many Carib countries.
I like the logic of some here who say the Indians in SA were racists (I don't know) because they were allowed to run business, etc. I guess people would never be happy even if in their dreams they expect the greed of mankind to disappear and all the businessmen give up their businesses and beg to be slaves or blacks for the heck of it. The guy who is apparently very ashamed made one point. Back in the day, anyone who leaves home and eats outside was considered not pure from a religious standpoint, probably eating food tinged with meat, etc. So they were all (including Gandhi who was not even a Brahmin) considered not pure (orthodox) Hindus.
Many Muslims also were and are particular about halalness of food.

With time, evolution/adaptation and darkness of ignorance being illuminated by knowledge, those antiquated mind set have pretty much disappeared.

We should look at self deeply first.

Just an FYI this is not the esteemed Mr Malema's first tangle with the Indian community.

ANC Youth League president Malema was forced to apologise to the Indian community after he told residents of a township in Lenasia, an Indian suburb south of Johannesburg: “Your children must be allowed to go to school with amakula (‘coolie’) children.”

“It is rather unfortunate that Malema speaks without thinking. He says anything to please an audience. The word he has used is most offensive and I am glad that the ANCYL has apologised and promised that it will not happen again.”

Why dont the black South African get off their arse and work like others instead of making racists comments about them.The Indians work just as hard as the everybody and even more,that is why they will take control.They educate themselves first and the rest comes easier,they don't steal,rob and murder you for what you have.

What a surprise you didn't call me a racist like your cousin Malema,maybe you agree with his racist comments.Indians in SA make up 2.5 % of the population which works out to be about 1.3 million.They make up the smallest ethnic population,how effective could their racism be to a population of 56 million of which 46 million are black Africans.Coloreds 4.5% and Whites 4.5%.
I have to assume that Indians running things in South Africa,tell me more.

It's a fact that Indians work harder than most other races,there's no doubt about that,they work many hours,they save and push their children to study and study eventually finding jobs that the ordinary person would not get.The input by the Asian community in the British economy is the biggest of all the other ethnicities as a ratio.Doesn't that make them harder working than others.I believe it is the same in South Africa.
As a politician Mr.Malema could be a little different with his words,I'm sure he,as well as many others are aware that there were many Indians behind the scenes with the ANC,and Mr.Mandela.
