I had a Suzuki Vitara back in 1990 in Guyana imported directly from Japan. Nice vehicle that.Far better than a Ford Focus.

FORD.....Found On Road Dead.

Happened twice to me (totally dead) in two years. Unfortunately, was the only dealership that would give a FOB any credit without any history.

Honda all the way since. Once Civic.....got good pep. They are more spacious now compared to the 80s.
Otherwise, poor man's Benz Honda Accord. Sweet, sweet ride and they don't done. Great re sale value.
(The girls loved the BMWs and Lexuses).

Can't advise on some of them personally, but the Vitara would be superior in that list..drove a rental one around 2010 and it was ok,not as good as a CRV though.

Here are some similar discussion threads with people seeking advice on each of them but with vehicles in their class on trinituner, advice from Trinis using those cars on in Trini and dealer/maintenance experiences etc..Hope it helps.

Cerato vs Mada3 ,Jetta vs Elantra vs Focus..

Vitara vs Sportage vs Sante Fe

Oh and regarding trusting a Kia,wifey had a new rental sportage for about a month as her car awaited some diagnostics,it drove like a european small car in my opinion and the fit and finish rivalled or exceeded many Japanese and European offerings in it's class,Kias are no joke anymore,in their early days Toyota were the laughing stock of the USA and Europe..

There are many more comparison threads there, make sure it's the same model/year..dunno if you going showroom,roro/foreign used or local used,so make sure it's the right car ..

Brother on a more serious note the Nissan Qashqai (value for money) is the way to go if you live in TNT.

However, nothing beats a Toyota as long as you are prepared to fork out more cash.

The Vitara scores very low on crash tests.
