An interesting legal battle is on the cards between the lawyers of Sri Lanka Cricket and International Cricket Council after the former decided to contest the ICC sanctions issued on Thursday. Following the drawn second Test match between Sri Lanka and West Indies in St. Lucia, ICC Match Referee Javagal Srinath found Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal guilty of tampering with the ball. Minutes later, the ICC announced that CEO David Richardson had charged Chandimal, Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha and Team Manager Asanka Gurusinha of a more serious Level three offence which relates to conduct that is contrary to the Spirit of the game.

The Sri Lankans were charged for holding up play for two hours on the morning of day three after the umpires accused the Sri Lankan captain of ball tampering.

SLC officials were in discussion with the Sri Lankan side that is currently in Barbados and late Wednesday night made a decision to contest the charge. SLC sources said that the board will inform the decision to the ICC Thursday morning.

That means the ICC will have to appoint a Judicial Commissioner to hear the case and the trio of Chandimal, Hathurusingha and Gurusinha will not be suspended from the third and final day-night Test in Barbados.

What type cheater is this Sri Lankan board, rather than punishing a bad behavior they are encouraging. ICC should send strong message to this sri lankan board.

Stalling tactics to allow Chandimal to play the final test since a win will level the series. They will then withdraw from contesting the ban

This is ludicrous. He tampered with the ball, held up the game for 2 hours, and now they want to appeal?

But which charge are they contesting - the ball tamper8ng charge or the holding up the game charge?

Stupid to cheat, and now more stupid to try to escape punishment by faulting the system. This will just tick off the ICC more!

Did they get a good sample of saliva for DNA testing, etc?
If licking is allowed, is there a playbook as to who and what can be licked before you/who can go down to the balls?
Licking is now legal in most states.
Any direct relation between the licking and change in shape, or color, of balls?
Any damages can be demonstrated?
Lankans can counter sue for defamation of character with all the negative publicity and every Cunumunu calling them cheaters?
What is the reputation of that Indian guy and his relationship with Lanka? Actually state of Indo Lankan affairs.
Why so much inconsistencies and lying?

Just a few random thoughts.
