The short answer is NO. There is no interest in cricket, especially the losing kind. These days people are attracted to a spectacle - to entertainment. So 95% of West Indians will not come for the cricket but they will come for the hype, the music, the dancing, the half-naked girls, the atmosphere and the drinking. The cricket will be the backdrop
CWI has no marketing strategy. They are lazy and stupid. They don't even have to re-invent the wheel. Just copy what the CPL is doing or ask Guyana's President Alli for help. I will paraphrase an English journalists many moons ago, writing about a test match in Antigua.... I came to the ARG for a party and a cricket match broke out.

I am shocked that you are surprised by the level of interest. Judging from those that I know, and from what I see, interest in Barbados seems very low. Probably the same across the region.
The CPL has revived some interest, and I agree with poster Bobby's observations above.
Poor, deteriorating teams have played a significant part. How it got to this needs to be properly assessed.
In today's world, fans have the internet, cell phones and plenty other distractions. Coincidentally with the 5 picks on test team to Oz, I think the economic growth in Guyana could play a part in boosting cricket there and regionally. Guyanese love their cricket.

It is the result of years of cultural decay and ably assisted by the dearth of leadership in cricket and society in general.
Why is it CPL can get out full stadiums, a drunken looking President marketing it as if it is his own country playing and his fans going nationalistic in the worse of ways.
No where else you see this gap. I remain worried.

honestly the crowd makeup in barbados didn't surprise me much. its a very popular tourist destination among britons and they've been outnumbering the locals at the game since the late 90s. not really a result of WI performances but a result of the popularity of the island among tourists. but i agree. interests on the islands are very low. almost nonexistent in TT. yuh doh realize de few WI fans yuh saw in tarouba was a few small children and baby boomers hoping to see the side rise to the heights they reached during their 20s and 30s. i know with trinis, we like teams that win. its why when the soca warriors were playing between 2010 and 2015, there used to be virtually no one in the stadioum, while when the red force was playing t20s, a 3 hour game, the oval used to be sold out. and ppl used to openly say trinidad t20 side wins matches, the soca warriors don't

Tbh there was a radio host who was advocating for a boycott of the games because if the bravo issue. idk if that played a part.
