HEADLINE: This isn't Test cricket

Indian cricket is in camouflage mode. After getting thoroughly exposed in the Test series in England, winning the Asia Cup in Dubai and now the first Test in Rajkot makes one wonder how such cricket can be watched.

Even for the die-hard Indian cricket fan, proceedings in Rajkot were much simply prosaic. Huge hype has been created, first over 18-year-old debutant Prithvi Shaw slamming a ton on debut and then Virat Kohli scoring his 24th Test ton.

These were indeed the highlights of the last three days which will go down in the annals of Test cricket as one of the most one-sided and boring wins for India. There is nothing wrong in winning matches by a huge margin at home, just that wins like these serve no purpose.

To bring the former greats of Test cricket to India and then canning them mercilessly makes for sad viewing. Indian cricket and planning are alien to each other, so if at all the men who run the sport are serious about preparing for the tough tour to Australia, something different should have been done.

In an age of cricket and commerce existing together, meaningless cricket got the right treatment from fans in Rajkot. Not more than a few hundred fans turned up each day. To think that the average fan will digest any rubbish cricket or you can take them for granted is not true.

In an age where watching sport has become so easy thanks to so many television channels beaming live images from across the world, this was not the type of Test cricket anyone wanted to see.

This was, in fact, not even a shade better than defeating Afghanistan in the one-off Test earlier this year in Bengaluru. For those who identify West Indies cricket with fast bowlers charging in to aim the red cherry at the rib cage of Indian batsmen or batsmen like Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards hammering the Indian bowling, viewing this West Indies side was painful.

these are not world class cricketers and Cameron and his board are not administrators

For The BIG IDIOT, Cameron, to get the message, he must be forced to pad up and go out to bat one of these days.

That'll teach him!

All Cameron thinks about is how to be re-elected president.

When will you guys wake up and understand that Crooked Dave and his gang do not care. The money is sweet right now. So who cares about tomorrow. And the many stupid fans here are unable to grasp that there is nothing called West Indies cricket. There is a private club named Cricket West Indies with a team named Windies which plays cricket.

Well true about "stupid fans" of which we have too many in here.

Also true about "CWI/WICBC" BUT WE CAN CHANGE THAT.

Must disband the "CWI" set up and reformed the territorial boards by legislation. Create a new governance structure to reform our cricket.

Will the lazy poster of this thread please provide the correct link for the article, rather than send the reader back to the same thread through "Full Story"?

But, I'll save you the trouble: Here is the REAL "Full Story".

How does WI cricket develop if WI does not play against much stronger opponents? If India refuse to play WI, will they be accused of prejudice, etc?

I see that you joined this Forum in
2014 , I joined in 2003 , and I have
stated most of what You have stated for 11 years .

The Crux of the matter is that :

IN ALL CRICKET BOARDS IN THE REGION

AND IN THE WICBC.CWI ; THERE HAS

BEEN, AND CONTINUES TO BE A VERY

CONTEMPTUOUS ATTITUDE BY ALL THESE

BOARDS TOWARDS THE PLAYERS .

It is this Attitude that is at the Heart of the matter regarding Cricket in the Region . Until and
unless this attitude is seriously
addressed , Cricket in the Region aint going to improve .

What is truly sad is the fact that
the Sycophants of the WICBC/CWI & its Satellites , the Regional Boards
are deathly afraid to tell the Emperors that they aint wearing any Clothes .

In my opinion it is this Unholy alliance that has destroyed West Indies Cricket . Obviously once the
WICBC/CWI realized that many of the
Pseudo Sports Journalists in the Region were in bed with them , Cricket in the Region started going on a downward trend .

This is precisely why the WICBC/CWI
can Commission Reports and then bury the findings of those Reports . You will never ever hear a Murmur from
its Sycophants in the Media .

Those who believe that ALL the Ills
in West Indies Cricket belong only to the Players have been brainwashed
by the Pseudo Sports Journalists in the Region .

In the Realm of Test Cricket WE in the West Indies live in quite different Eras , I have been at pains to point out this Freaking Fact that has seemingly escaped the attention of my Critics .

It was and is truly astounding that
my reasons for the decline of West Indies Cricket especially in the longer versions of the game have been totally ignored by those in this Forum who claim to be very knowledgeable regarding Cricket .

IT WAS & IS ASTOUNDING THAT OUR

PLAYERS BECAME THE VERY BEST IN THE

WORLD , DESPITE NOT HAVING A

REGIONAL CRICKET LEAGUE IN THOSE

ERAS.

As I have stated often in this Forum
there were 3 very Important factors.

THE FIRST IS THAT OUR PLAYERS PLAYED

CRICKET IN ENGLAND ; SO THEY GOT

ACCLIMATIZED TO THE WEATHER & THE

PITCHES IN ENGLAND .

SECONDLY , BY PLAYING CRICKET MAINLY

IN ENGLAND ; WHEN THEY REPRESENTED

THE REGION ; THEY WERE SUPREMELY FIT

AND THEIR SKILLS FINELY HONED .

THE 3RD FACTOR IS THAT IN THOSE ERAS

THE TOUR SCHEDULE DEMANDED THAT

VISITORS PLAYED MATCHES BETWEEN THE

TEST MATCHES. THIS ALLOWED TOURING

TEAMS PLAYERS TOURING FOR THE FIRST

TIME OPPORTUNITIES TO GET

ACCLIMATIZED TO BOTH THE WEATHER &

THE PITCHES .

I relish citing these things to tangibly demonstrate that the WICBC /CWI has been a MESS for many many years .

IT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO MAINTAIN

OR ENHANCE THE PROWESS OF OUR PLAYERS

IN THE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET ARENA,

WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE ENGLAND DECIDED

TO LIMIT OVERSEAS PLAYERS FROM

PLAYING CRICKET IN ENGLAND .

THEN THE ICC DECIDED TO CURTAIL THE

NUMBER OF MATCHES VISITING TOURING

TEAMS PLAY .

So when the above happened , the
Members of the WICBC/CWI sat on their Individual & Collective Asses
and did absolutely nothing .

THEY COULD HAVE FORMED A REGIONAL

CRICKET LEAGUE & SOLICIT FINANCIAL

SPONSORS . HISTORY INFORMS US THAT

THEY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING .

I love to state the following freaking Fact :

IN THE HALLS OF THE ICC MORE CRICKET

IS PLAYED THAN ON THE CRICKET FIELD.

EXHIBIT A :

RECENTLY 4 COUNTRIES DECIDED THAT

THEY SHOULD GET THE LION'S SHARE OF

THE ICC PROFITS . IT WAS PUBLIC

OUTRAGE THAT TERMINATED THAT

DECISION ; HOWEVER I HAVE ABSOLUTELY

NO DOUBT THAT THIS ISSUE WILL

RESURFACE AGAIN .
