JAMAICA'S REGGAE GIRLZ KHADIJA SHAW WATCH FOR HER TONIGHT
Plenty licks for Jamaica today, America will beat that ass good
Man, show some love for Yard and cheer them on what may be best described as a momentous occasion
In reply to problemjay
No doubt, no doubt. Just need to make sure it doh travel too far past 7 nil to dampen the spirits too much, and then hope for the best against Panama.
In reply to XDFIX
What time s the match?
Just saw it's 7pm Ja time.
In reply to Headley
It's playing now. 34th minute.
USA 5 - JA 0
Girls yet to take a shot at USA goal. Yet to make a good pass.Game being played in one half of the field with JA girls clueless
In reply to hubert
Jamaica coach has no sense - USA have 3 defenders in their half all the time - Jamaica have no forward keeping the US defense honest - All JA players are on defense all the time -- what happens if the US defense makes a mistake - there is nobody there to take advantage
In reply to birdseye
Well I saw the coach and he looked confused more than the girls
In reply to hubert
Was unable to see this one but based on what I saw in the last match I am not at all surprised.

In reply to hubert
Sad, big stage fright!
In reply to Ewart
The last match you saw you mean. Dem beat Cuba 9 luv in dem last match.
Or maybe 9 wasn't enough.
In this region, it's USA...daylight...Canada... copious amounts of daylight...the rest.

In reply to XDFIX
Full time: 6-0
In reply to JahJah
It must hurt AF reporting that score with a straight face huh? Like open heart surgery and you awake...ent..
your knees buckled a bit and you got a lil cold sweat ent...
In reply to bravos
It's less than 7, which is more than one could ask for. How's TnT doing by the way? Already qualified?
In reply to JahJah
I only watched the 1st half. Was expecting about 15-0 so I guess there was great improvement in the 2bd half.
If the girls got this far, I would hate to see the teams they overcame to reach this far
In reply to hubert
I think there are only two good teams in CONCACAF. Canada and USA.
The rest are experts in the art of licks.
6 - 0 from USA (world ranked #1) is not a bad result for Jamaica (ranked #64). I kept wishing the coach would substitute out Jody Brown who at age 16 had nothing more to gain in a game beyond Jamaica's reach and with a more important match coming up on Wednesday. Alas, she was pushed to the ground, damaged her shoulder and left the game with 10 minutes to go.
Wednesday's opposition, Panama, basically (or was it smartly) conceded to Canada before kick-off when they sat out 6 of their starters. it will be an interesting battle for that 3rd place honor which brings with it automatic qualification to the World Cup.
In reply to JahJah
True
In reply to JahJah
That's pretty much it when it comes to the women's game. And even among the 'rest of us' there are huge disparities.
Congrats to Jamaica for winning the third place match and clinching a berth at the World Cup!
In reply to Tryangle
big step! there are a few girls in the US who have Yard connections, this may motivate them to look at the program.
In reply to camos
I think a lot of them already on the team. Do you mean the higher level ones?
In reply to JahJah
girls at the club level who can't make the US team.
So after all the Jamaica dissing we became the first caribbean team to qualify for a woman's world cup.
In reply to Jamstar
Yup. Reacting out of anger coz dem did get a lashing with no reward while Jamaica was going to get lash by the same team, but still have a chance to qualify. It did ah hot dem rass.
And this was the same Panama side dat did rinse dem in prelims too.
Hopefully Panama beats Argentina in the playoff.
And to top it off this team is a very young team, Shaw is 21 Jody Brown is 16, Synder the keeper is 19 and there a couple more teenagers on the team plus the core of the rest of the team is 23-25.
If they stay focused this team can make multiple world cups.
In reply to Jamstar
That's what I was saying on another thread. A lot of young, raw talent to work with.

In reply to birdseye
Khadija Shaw is a not a good football (stop saying soccer! lol) player?
In reply to birdseye
bro! you play your strengths , if you have good athletes you look for the counter. if people are not technical you can't play one touch.
In reply to camos
In reply to JahJah
Shaw is a very good player and so is Jody Brown.
They are both very young and talented.
This team will learn the technical aspects once they are given the opportunity to continue playing.
In reply to birdseye
the Jamaicans are much faster, so they can play deeper in their half... that is why the US had 3 defenders back at all times!
Once again, Jamaica's sporting ambassadors have done the spectacular.
This time, the country's women's team has created history by becoming the first from the Caribbean to qualify for a senior Fifa Women's World Cup.
Et tu, Jamaica?
In reply to XDFIX
Sorry I did not see this match. But I saw a photograph in today's Gleaner of some Panamanian defender hopelessly holding on to the jersey of the giant Kadijah who just brushed her away like a fly.
I will try to post it.

There are a few girl that if targeted for development they can be world beaters:
Shaw
Brown
Patterson
Plummer
Swaby
Asher
Schnider
Kudos to the coach for the goalkeeping change late in extra time .It was a calculated move to bring on McLure his shot stopper and she delivered with 2 penalty saves
In reply to JoeGrine
Not that Schnider couldn't do the job, but good move nevertheless!
In reply to Ewart
Giant Kadijah - 5' 11" and full of power!
In reply to XDFIX
...in whom we are well pleased.

You see all of that in ONE photograph Boss?
Hold up, you are correct, a picture is worth a thousand words.
In reply to JahJah
Never saw much -- how did the Shim girl do??
In reply to JoeGrine
And I only used 30 words.
Imagine what could be done with the other 970.

In reply to np
Was impressed with Shim. Good dribbler. Next to Shaw looked like the one player who can carry the ball. However, at times should be looking to pass; need to get a few moves to get around the defender. Was dribbling into the defender and falling down.
In reply to CWWeekes
Thanks sah. I know her family from JA, I think she is in school in FLA.
In reply to Ewart
Askording to my math at least 32 more pickha
In reply to CWWeekes
Would tend to agree about Shim.Wonder why she not starting. As you said, good mover of the ball.
Shaw is a good player. Looking to score and making plays for her team mates to score. Good leader.
In reply to RoyalDad
Shaw = questionable work rate, however, a danger facing or with back to goal.
Asher = (#7) the best distributor and the best first touch. Panama obviously did their homework on the team and kept her closely marked throughout the game.
In reply to JoeGrine
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this about Shaw. Her work rate should be questioned, but she makes up for her overall play and ball intelligence. Her size seems to be playing against her too.
Asher...will check replay on her.
In reply to JoeGrine
be careful you are not using men's fitness standards to judge these women, I remember we had the best girls teams playing boys 2-3 years younger and the boys would out run them every time. If you watch US women college games , you notice the high number of fouls, those occur mainly because of a lack of fitness.
In reply to camos
I have only seen her playing against other females.
In reply to RoyalDad
Asher was marked out of the Panama match. You can see deft passes and ball control in the previous games especially the Costa Rica match.
In reply to JoeGrine
Nice player.
Some time till France. Do you know of anymore talent in the pipeline? Did not know young Brown was named most talented youngster in competition. Likely some US college will come beating down her door.
In reply to RoyalDad
Brown is in school in USA
Shaw was suffering from a toe injury.
Additionally she started in all the qualifiers, that's 12 games and played for 90 minutes in most.
For her that was a huge ask given her size and the fact that at the college level she rarely plays 90 minutes.
I do think she could lose some weight and get her fitness up but she has from now until the world cup to work on that. There is however no doubt about her quality as a striker just look at the goal she scored against Panama where she was being marked by 2 defenders and instinctively drifted of the shoulder of the first defender but did not drift so far as to drift into the path of the second defender there by making room for herself and when the cross came instead of going for power she guided the header back towards the near near post thereby catching the keeper flat-footed.
She is a quality striker who does the right thing the majority of the time but she can become even better.
In reply to JoeGrine
All the same.
Girls soccer is a big time criteria to get a scholarship to college in US.She is on the right track.
In reply to Jamstar

Nuff said.
