You really think Onry could bat better than Kalli?
Have you ever seen Kalli bat?
Since you are good at reading stats, go read about Kalli's century in India in the first test in 1974. Read about what happened to the pitch after the first day's play, then get back to me.
HOLA
I understand the need to discuss cricket and get argumentative...however rating batsmen/bowlers as all time greats in my opinion is not justifiable...most were good in their time...note in their time...case in point as Dukes pointed out Kalli in India and I would say Sobie on that pitch in Sabina in the 60,S..
I have known to be wrong but that is my opinion ..

In reply to Dukes
I agree that Kalli is the better Test batsman, but in terms of overall all-round batsman, The Universe Boss excels across all formats and is incomparable in the shortest format. He is one of only four batsmen to score two Test triple centuries and only West Indian to score an ODI double century.
I have seen Kalli bat. He was class - undeniably one of our greatest stroke makers. It is a shame his career ended prematurely.
Onry is one our top 5 batting legends we have produced - I think he would just edge Kalli in this list due to his record across formats and ability to compile monstrous scores and obliterate bowling attacks.
All-time XI of left handers (l/h batsmen and l/h bowlers):
Hayden
Smith
Sangakkara
Lara
Chanderpaul
Sobers
Gilchrist
Akram
Johnson
Davidson
Herath

I wonder what the criteria is for best West Indian left handed batsmen?
I always liked Herbert Chang and Timur Mohammed
Neither got as many opportunities as maybe they should have due to the success of the WI team when they played.
Kalli was pleasing on the eye but much like Sobers his greatest claim to fame was beating up a washed up bowler Dennis Lilee in his case
Sobers scored that 365 against one of poorest test attack of all time.
Onry is a living b....claat Legend who beat up some of the fastest men of all time at their peak to boot.
It's not even a question if onry can bat better than Kalli he Gayle is streets ahead he has revolutionised the game
As an aside I rate Fredrick's 169 at Perth as one of the greatest test innings ever played
I love Kalli my favourite bat his wristy stroke play was a beauty but please get real
In reply to ponderiver
How he did against Vaas?
In reply to CITYBOY
Look dude, get real. I'm not trying to compare Gayle with Kalli - like you said, two different eras. I was simply explaining my rationale to Dukes as to why I ranked GayleForce above Kalli in the list of left handers.
So I ain't talking no MS nonsense. The list was for left handers overall, not just Tests, and Onry is one of the best overall.
Anyway, WI 5 all-time batting legends are:
1. Lara
2. Viv
3. Sobers
4. Shiv
5. Gayle
Quite striking is the number of world-class left handers we have produced (4 of the top 5 legends are lefties )
GRAEME POLLOCK ?
In reply to jaip
Oh yes, I had a feeling I was missing another Saffie. He might make the top 10.
In reply to ponderiver
RIGHT THERE you displayed a stunning superficiality that would make the spudster shake his head in disappointment.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Kallicharran's claim to fame is his legendary ability to play top class spin bowling.
When the WI went to India in 1974-5,the Dukester who had just arrived in Hingland was very close to the WI team even seeing them off for that tour to India.
In the very first test match at the end of day 1 the WI on a rain interrupted day made 212-2 with Kalli on 64not out and Lloyd on 20 odd I think. Overnight rain and poor covers caused some significant dampness of the wicket and the next day the Indian spinners were UNPLAYABLE. The WI were bowled out for 289 with Kalli last out for 124.He had added 60 out of 77 additional runs for the last 8 wickets. In both the 3rd and 4th test matches when the Indian spinners were running thru the WI batting like a hot knife thru butter Kalli made half centuries in losing causes.Towards the end of his test career Kalli dropped off significantly so that his test average which was marginally under 50 became a pedestrian 44.
Incidentally I was at the Oval when he did his thing against Lillee and I know that is not what he was most proud of.

add one of them to 10. nah
why u think i leff dat out
In reply to ponderiver
your ignorance about so many things is shocking
no wonder u had to curl up your hair jerry
In reply to Dukes
many who played with Kalli rates his as the best pure batsman the west indies ever produced...that's probably a stretch but he was that good to spin and pace
cook in an all time 11?
are u freaking kidding me?
In reply to doosra
Lol. Will replace.
In reply to Seechy
Sobers, Pollock etc never played anything but Test...you will rank Gayle ahead of them too?
In reply to Seechy
Hola...seeing yuh so SEECHY..you know what SEECHY means right???perhaps you should do something about that before talking about great batsmen..
but Mr Smart Seechy ..HOW DO YOU DEFINE BATSMANSHIP???
Change your handle take another 100 years and then come back with the answer.
meanwhile as I normally say..adios
Kalli aint no fluke ..he was a batsman..hard ball and bumper ball..and table tennis...and off field he was maestro in other games..gwaan another 100 years please.

Hola...and to trop it off Srecch Stop...batting became easy...gone was bodyline, backline,LBW pitch in line shit,1 bouncer per over ,wide call down de leg..all kind of nonsense that made batsman king,
Imagine what Sobie and the yesteryears boys would had amassed if these playing conditions and regulations existed...
naaah Sheeech Halt you got to take another 100 years to figure that out...
you must be from South Hall....too much garam flour does mess with the brains./

I think that 60s cherri juice has effected the brain cells , and therefore rendered your thinking process void
In reply to ponderiver
Onry....as tremendous a player as he is.....cannot bat with kalli bruh
Chalk and forkane cheese.
That is by no means meant to diminish the fantastic achievements Christopher Henry Gayle has accomplished during his long and prolific career...particularly in the LO game.
But batsman for batsman....kalli right up there with Lara bruh. Not better mind you....but up there.
In reply to ponderiver
Seriously?
Sobers clubbered Lillee when he was coming into his prime. Go and see the world X1 vs Australia.
Some of you guys are so short sighted.
Read up or listen to the chat Sobers and Ian Chappell had on Lillee.
As for Kalli . He was the class in the middle.
He got sidelined because of the stupid Board who wanted a certain type of players.
Kalli went to SA and played well for awhile.
Get your facts straight .
In reply to imusic
well said. He faced the best bowlers world over.
In reply to doosra
he needs to rate a yardie
