Windies Women vs England Women

Windies Women opt to bowl

Narper 2018-11-18 14:50:01

Taylor: We will bowl first. There will be some moisture in the pitch and we would like to use it. Our fielding was not good in the last match, we would want to improve in that department. England are a great team and they are in good form. We really want to carry forward this momentum

Kay 2018-11-18 15:02:28

Me tekkin a seat on dis wagon …. go girls!

Kay 2018-11-18 15:04:14

Brits did well to get to 115/8

Game on

sgtdjones 2018-11-18 16:55:48

HK Matthews b Shrubsole 1

Shrubsole to Matthews, OUT, bowled her, top of leg stump! Shrubsole's famed inswing finds the mark first ball! Something of a yahoo across the line from Matthews, but still... Wasn't a ball short enough to pull, the Windies opener missed and England's talisman hit
HK Matthews b Shrubsole 1 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.00

SR Taylor (c)b Shrubsole 0

Shrubsole to Taylor, OUT, and again! Shrubsole rattles Taylor's timbers! The old one-two and West Indies are reeling... Another in-ducker on a length, Taylor was backing away and missed with a loose prod

Shrubsole to Campbelle, no run, maybe not... Big inswinger, and there's an appeal for a stumping! Campbelle was backing away, having narrowly avoided being castled, she lifted her foot for a moment... but just had her toe grounded when Jones flicked off the bail. Close!

END OF OVER:4 | (maiden) | WI-W: 16/2

sgtdjones 2018-11-18 16:59:17

Ecclestone to Campbelle, FOUR runs, dropped! A tough chance, Kirstie Gordon diving at short fine leg, I think, she got a hand on it but there was enough power for it to burst through and run away to the rope

END OF OVER:5 | 7 Runs | WI-W: 23/2

"Shrubsole is so good tonight that the best of batsmen in the world would dread facing her," whoops Azhar. "Brilliant!"

Shrubsole to Dottin, 1 run, comes across and works this down with the angle to midwicket... there's a direct hit on the underarm, but I think Campbelle was home

Sophie Ecclestone replaces Hazell, who's offspin was vulnerable against Dottin

"Anya Shrubsole. 80 wickets at 13 apiece. Ridiculously good." Not to mention a six-for in a World Cup final, Rob. She'll be a Dame one day

Ecclestone to Dottin, SIX runs,
Ecclestone to Dottin, SIX runs, tuk-tuk BOOM! Dottin finds her range again and smokes a big hit over the ropes at deep square leg!'

Dani Hazell back on

Delicately poised, this. Dottin the kingpin as far as Windies are concerned, and only one over of Shrubsole for England to call on... But the rate is above a run a ball

Hazell to Dottin, SIX runs,

Hazell to Dottin, SIX runs, she goes again, smoked into the boards at deep midwicket! That's her shot, tossed up and she just mullers it with the spin, to the delight of the crowd

"Both teams trying their best to save a face-off against Australia in the semis!" hoots Bush. I dunno, I think West Indies might know what they're doing

Ecclestone to Campbelle, FOUR runs, gets a tad leg side and she's picked off, this will run away for four through backward square leg... second boundary for Campbelle, and a timely one

Umpire has gone upstairs for stumping review. Jones looks confident. Her feet was outside the crease but Campbelle did really well to get it back. Not-Out is the decision.

sgtdjones 2018-11-18 17:30:06

Gordon to Dottin, OUT, slog-sweep from Dottin, but she's picked out deep square leg this time! Gordon throws her head back and bellows at the skies in celebration, she knows that's the key wicket for England! Dottin falls short going for another big hit, and remarkably walks off with a strike rate under 100 despite hitting four sixes

Kirstie Gordon to Campbelle, SIX, clean strike by Campbelle! She uses her feet to come close to the ball and takes the aerial route over the bowler's head. The connection was clean and it clears the ropes easily

Hazell to McLean, FOUR runs, down the leg side to start with and McLean only needs to get a tickle on a pull for to to run away

Deandra Dottin, Player of the Match: Right now bowling is giving me more pleasure.Though, I am enjoying my batting as well. I am sticking to the basics by bowling good lines and lengths. After having lost to two-three sticks, I needed to hang in there. I just knocked it around to start off.

No sense that these sides were going through the motions, both having already qualified. West Indies were brilliant in the field, England less so, and that was probably the difference between the sides. Anya Shrubsole was brilliant with the new ball, but in the end a pair of 40s from Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbelle were enough to see West Indies home.

Look at the ambassadors they have around them.

Just to have them in the dressing room without speaking
it would motivate these women.

Could one imagine a Viv, Shiv showing you a few tips on batting? Or telling you signs to look for when they are bowling at you. These ladies will never forget such moments.

cool cool
