For 59 overs on Day 1 in Chittagong, Bangladesh rarely put a foot wrong. They waltzed past the first couple of hours with a session strike rate of nearly four, recovered well from break in partnerships and most importantly, had a familiar centurion in this part of the country - Mominul Haque. The left-hander didn't just enhance his already exceptional numbers at the Zahur Ahmed Choudhary stadium in Chittagong [six centuries in nine Tests], but also put Bangladesh on course to go past the average first-innings score at the venue - 374.
A fourth spell for Shannon Gabriel however, turned the tables rather spectacularly. In the space of three overs in the post-Tea session, Gabriel brought an end to Mominul's 167-ball stay and then proceeded to destroy Bangladesh's middle-order, reducing them from 222 for 3 to 235 for 7.
Mominul enjoyed a bit of luck courtesy Windies' poor catching, but played a very confident, unwavering knock throughout the day. The early spells from the pacers in the morning session - exploiting the angle from around the stumps - was dealt with, with a lot of awareness [of where his off-stump is] and confidence. On a surface where Jomel Warrican, Roston Chase and Devendra Bishoo extracted a lot of turn and steep bounce - from as early as the 12th over - Mominul displayed some deft backfoot play to keep the trio at bay.

If only West indies had another seam bowler instead of that waste of time Bishoo, we probably would have bowled them out for under 300 and would be batting now. What they see in Bishoo only they can answer. We playing a match with two seam bowlers and out of the 8 wickets, our two seamers have taken five of them. Poor team selection is what continues to hurt us.

Old ball magic?
The horse has already bolted
Bangla is 300 + for 8 and counting
And we have to bat last
86.3
Warrican to Taijul Islam, 2 runs, short outside off, backs away and cuts past point. That's fifty for the 9th wicket.

There was Roach.....did he perform better than Bishoo?
Did you notice Gabriel got his first wicket after tea....and when the Bang batsman had already made a ton?

Did you notice he dismissed mahmudullah, centurion in his last test, mushfiqur, double centurion in his last test and shakib, the best test allrounder in the world for next to nothing?

@ Napper I can't get your point. Yes there was Roach but cricket is about phycological pressure and the world knows Bishoo is not going to apply any pressure on anyone. In fact you put out the team bowling figures but I hope you realized Bishoo was the most expensive bowler going @4 runs an over? Not only that my friend but Warrican who is junior spinner bowled 21 overs while our veteran Bishoo could only bowl 15 overs, only 4 more than Chase who is a specialized batsman and 7 more than Brathwaite who is a part time Spinner and opening batsman. Once again Bishoo does not command a pick on the west indies team.

In the first over Roach got his wicket and left Bangladesh 1/1 and they were under pressure. Gabriel was not at his best in his first spell but we didn't have a third or forth seamer to rotate around so to maintain pressure. Out of the 88 overs bowled our two seamers could only bowl 33 overs, while our spinners bowled 55. We were definitely short of another seamer if not two. I don't care how good our spinners are in our domestic competition, our history tells us is our fast bowlers that is our strength. With a number of young fast bowlers now, persisting with Bishoo will bring us nowhere

Easy to predict. Anything over 300 by an opposing team usually mean a WI loss!
