boy these Steelers
In reply to methodic
They flatter to deceive.
Big Ben is in that Brett Favre mould, throwing stupid ints at inopportune times.
Say goodbye to Bye week talk
In reply to methodic
Didn't get it done for the 2nd straight week. Couldn't capitalize on the Ravens loss. If they don't make the playoffs Tomlin might be gone when Black Monday comes around early next month.
In reply to Priapus
Good one!
Did you come up with that all by yourself?
In reply to imusic
Yes sir, i did.
On a different note, the Bears are showing that if you can get in the face of their QB, the Rams high-flying offense can be slowed. Still enough time for a comeback though.
Back-to-back interceptions on consecutive plays. The Bears are doing their best to keep the Rams in the game.
well, the Steelers finally beat the Patriots!!! Well done.
In reply to DirtyDan
at last, they are still dangerous
In reply to DirtyDan
I feel that Pittsburgh needs to find a way to get to the 3 or 2 seed; if they're a 4 or 6 it's going to be very tough sledding come playoff time.
In reply to Priapus
Black Monday indeed. Seems the few black coaches are going to lose jobs this time round. One has already gone.
In reply to archangel
Marvin Lewis had a good run, he is the only other one that will probably be fired. The youth in Denver should get a next year.
In reply to methodic
Have the Jets fired Bowles yet? That seemed to be a certainty.
Meanwhile Anthony Lynn may sneak into the Coach of the Year voting, the way the Chargers have been on a roll.
In reply to Tryangle
yep, that's right, Bowles will probably be fired too.
In reply to methodic
Vance Joseph going as well.
The list
Joseph
Bowles
Lewis
Jackson
If Steelers dont make the play off, Tomlin will also go. He might also go if one and done.
Riverboat Ron is also a minority head coach.
Let us see how the Rooney Rule works out from here.
That will leave Lyn as the only black head coach.
In reply to archangel
if Joseph win his last two he has a decent chance of returning. I doubt very much that Steelers will fire Tomlin. Rodriguez might be under fire given that he is working for a new owner.
In reply to methodic
No way Tomlin gets fired. If anything, the DC might get the axe. All is forgiven if Steelers win Super Bowl
In reply to Curtis
now they are out the playoffs
In reply to methodic
Its looking very bleak for the Steelers. Pittsburg love continuity so the Coach might survive.
In reply to NYCGURU
they played well, the coach did well, but the refs made the customary bad calls
Steelers need Browns to beat Ravens, and for them to beat Bengals, to win the division
In reply to DirtyDan
That Week 1 tie looks like it really could haunt the Steelers
In reply to DirtyDan
My gosh that 4th down pass interference call on Pittsburgh that would have halted New Orleans scoring drive in its track was a disgrace.
In reply to archangel
OUT:
Lewis (CIN)
Joseph (DEN)
Bowles (NYJ)
Gase (MIA)
Wilks (ARI)
Koetter (TB)
My knucklehead Jags are keeping Mr. Baloney, however. Sigh.
In reply to Tryangle
The Jags made a BIG mistake in giving Bortles that extension after last season. With such a good defense, a serviceable QB is what they need. Bortles suck big time. The coaching staff's lack of faith in him is why they went ultra-conservative against the Pats in the playoffs last year which they ended up losing after leading by 10 points in the 4th quarter.
In reply to Tryangle
Gase might end up in Cleveland or Green Bay.
In reply to Tryangle
Yeah, Jags mistake was trusting in Bortles.
The decision seemed pig headed because while it was clear that Bortles was not good enough, the coaching staff and players, when asked, made excuses for him.
As a Falcons fan I can support them cleaning house in the coordinators dept.
In reply to archangel
I don't even mind the extension as much as not having a viable Plan B. Cody Kessler was clearly not it. Could have drafted Lamar Jackson instead of a DE to ride bench, or gotten a more serviceable backup in FA (Bridgewater? RG3?). That falls on the front office. Now we're back to being the laughingstock after one year where we were so close to a dream season. It's a total mess in Jax now. Injuries plus indiscipline plus poor play.
Vance Joseph, Adam Gase, Marvin Lewis all gone today.
Read today Tomlin could be out... considering the Steelers history, would be unprecedented
In reply to Tryangle
Tomlin is an excellent, proven, successful, NFL head coach.
But this season he had 2 major man management problems.....Antonio Brown and Bell....neither of which were resolved. Dont know how much of Bells situation is down to Tomlin, but he certainly owns what happened with Antonio Briown.
If a head coach is unable to effectively resolve man management issues in any sport, theyre good bets to be fired
In reply to imusic
Or just get rid of the Cancers...the Steelers have in the past gotten rid of mouthy receivers, divas.
Brown must be next. As soon as he got thst extension he actin like he answers to no one.
Teams are deluding themselves thinking they need diva WRs to be competitive...go see who's in the playoffs.
In reply to Ayenmol
I would be surprised to see both gone
In reply to Ayenmol
The cracks with Brown were exposed some time ago, no doubt. Great player but definitely a diva.
But if this reported blow up with Big Ben that led to his deactivation for last Sunday is valid then it sets the Steelers up in an odd way. Big Ben probably has at most 3 years left in the tank, on the other hand (like you said) Pittsburgh has let WRs walk for ages (Plaxico, Sanders, Bryant...)
